Enchanted (2007)

A lovely Disney film, a classic in its method and really enchanting...

It begins with the classic opening of the story book, a decorative book entitled "Enchanted". The opening plot is revealed by narration and the animation begins. You have Gisele, an innocent, fragile Princess who is lovely in almost every way. Sweet singing and helpful animals ensue. But the Queen of the land, who is the Prince's mother, does not want him to marry for fear her crown will be taken from her. To prevent this, on the day of Gisele and her son's wedding, the wicked Queen throws her down a wishing well. And so begins Gisele's transaction from her home land to a strange, strange and scary world - ours. There is a bit of a "Wizard Of Oz" feel to the film in many ways. Gisele, now a turned in a human form (the lovely Amy Adams) finds friendship and kindness in the city of New York. Now, the Prince (Edward) and Gisele's friendly chipmunk friend - Pip, venture down the wishing well also, intent on looking for his bride-to-be. Hilarity ensues as he, like Gisele, is confused about this place and who the people are, referring to many people as noble peasants etc! And all through the film until she decides to finish off Gisele herself, the Queen watches through any liquid form - her face appears in water bottles, pans of water, a glass of martini and a fish tank etc. It is the way her magic can see in to this "realm" etc. And eventually, the Queen does come to our world, flashing with the green energy of her magic and dark power. The film collides the good and evil at a ball. How could it not - this is Disney after all. Their are lots of Snow White similarities in this film, but those who know the classics, and I mean the classics - Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella etc, will see the little touches that make this film a joy to behold. After true love's kiss causes the Queen to fail, in the centre of the ballroom, she casts a spell and in a fiery boom of magic, transforms herself in to a dragon...

I won't give away all of the fun, but a few things about the film though. Amy Adams's energy for the character of Gisele is absolutely captivating and lovely to watch. The dancing, singing and the way she acts as the innocent, poor Princess is lovely. She really looks the part too. James Marsden is classic comedy as the slightly dull, slightly ego-centered Prince Edward. Susan Sarandon makes for a really good Queen, but her role is diminished a bit too much I felt, when watching this. But this film is really lovely and there are some really funny bits in it that really make you stand-up and laugh. Disney have made a great comeback to the film world with this film - it has been a while since such a good film from them has approached us. And the idea and plot of the story is absolutely genius in its design. This must be seen on the big screen! I cannot emphasize that enough - like seeing the very first Star Wars - it had to be on the big screen. So what are you waiting for? If you have just read this review and have not seen then go, hurry! Before the clock strikes midnight :)

Enchanted, enchanting and adorable, you will want to take your loved ones to see this, no matter how old you are...

Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue: The Queen's Wrath (2001 Video)

Queen Bansheera, mother of Olympius, has returned to her once true and dark powerful form...

One of the best of the Power Rangers generations, Power Rangers Lightspeed ends with a cracker. After 36 episodes, it has finally happened. Queen Bansheera's bodily form finally returns to her, and what a form it is! Long claws for fingers, a demonic face of nightmares and a voice to make the hearts of mere mortals tremble and quake. Unfortunately for poor Vipra, the Queen steals and absorbs her life energy - the final boost that returns her to full strength and power. Loki, with the Queen returned, requests to take on the Rangers by himself. "You have always been my favourite, Loki. Therefore, I grant your request" is the Queen's response but the second she fully returned, she had everything planned and her minions are simple pawns to her chessboard (in a matter of speaking). Loki attacks but Diabolico, at the last minutes of Loki's fate, tries to convince him of the Queen's betrayal to him and everyone. But Loki is faithful to the Queen until the very end. The Queen dominates the Rangers and is close to destroying them, if not for Carter - who stands a face-off against the Queen. But a past helpful hint from Diabolico, saves them all. The first part of this video ends with the Queen growing to large size and standing-off against the Lightspeed Megazord briefly before disappearing.

The 2nd part sees Olympius and Diabolico's on-going feud coming to an end. A fight to the death ends with Olympius's capture of his rival, to Queen Bansheera's pleasure. She turns the previous keeper of the star power in to a mindless zombie. Both the demons attack the Rangers but being heroes, they make Diabolico come to his previous senses and he goes off against Diabolico again. The end of the battle has both demons down for the count. But the Queen has other plans, making them grow with even more power than before. Their forms change as well, more monstrous and demonic. The Rangers attack with all they have got but Megazord after Megazord is destroyed by the two super-charged demons. With the sky darkened and Mariner Bay close to ending as ruins, the only hope is the recently tested Lifeforce Megazord which finally ends Diabolco and Olympius's reign of terror. But the terror is not over. Jinxer surprises the Queen by placing a batling card on the Lifeforce Megazord's leg. The last 2 parts see the Aquabase stormed by a tornado of batlings that over-run everything and use the Megazord to assist in their destruction! Whilst Queen Bansheera puts her Palace back in its rightful place, Carter and Ryan race against time to stop the Omega Megazord (controlled by batlings and Jinxer) from placing the stones of the Palace. Queen Bansheera is close to releasing the tomb of demons on the city. But all the Rangers attack in a final desperate battle. Diabolico appears a final time, with his hatred of the Queen not yet ended, he pulls the Queen down in to the tomb as the Rangers seal it before the spell is completed. The demons are no more, as is the Aquabase for the time being. And the amusing thing about the very end is that Joel finally gets his date with the lovely Miss Fairweather - lucky man lol. But after all he and his Ranger friends went through, he deserves it.

Beast Wars: Transformers: Nemesis: Part 1 (1999) Season 3, Episode 12

Nemesis - true to the title as the Beast Wars are about to end...

The Beast Wars may soon be coming to a peaceful end, the Maximals think and hope. But unknown to them, Megatron discovers one of Tarantulas's "little projects". Deep in the sea is the crashed Nemesis, the flagship of the Deception fleet, a starship of incredible power (that originally shot down The Arc in the beginning of the Beast Wars). Megatron and the Deceptions raise the ship from the depths, intent on using its power to finish of the Maximals once and for all. Still intact after all this time, Megatron takes command and the first part of the two-part ending finishes with the Nemesis in all its glory ready to fire upon the seemingly defenceless Maximals.

This episode sees the end of Depth Charge and Rampage. The two bitter rivals finally end in a band - literally. All that is left is pieces of their bodies that float to the water's surface. All hope seems lost at the end of this episode.

Beast Wars: Transformers: Nemesis: Part 2 (1999) Season 3, Episode 13

Nemesis Part 2 - the grande finale that ends one war and links with the beginning of another...

Concluding where part 1 left us at the edge of our seats, the Decepticon's powerful flagship has been risen from its watery grave and begins firing is devastating weapons upon the Maximals base. After part 1 seeing the destruction of Depth Charge and Rampage, Tigertron sacrifices himself during an attack on the Nemesis. Optimus and Megatron, the two Transmetal 2 Titans, have a final battle but help comes from a familiar undecided being. Transmetal 2 Dinobot, the helmsman of the Nemesis, sees no honour in Megatron's actions against the Maximals who have no chance against the power he now commands. He attacks Megatron but is destroyed when the console behind him explodes. The Nemesis is eventually finished once again for good and the Maximals escape just in time when they discover (thanks to another bit of help by Dinobot) a hidden shuttle aboard The Arc none of them knew of. The Maximals escape in to space, heading for Cybertron - with Megatron dragged along for the ride on the shuttle's hull.

This sees the end of the Beast Wars and there has been a lot of losses, more than gains. The end sees the link between the beginning of the "Beast Machines" series, where the entire reason behind the Beast Wars and the destiny of Cybertron is revealed...

I must admit, out of the EROS MOVIE COLLECTION, this has to be the one that I love the most as well as one other that I have also reviewed. The story is something that really keeps you watching. A lot of the EROS films have a plot that looks like a hammer broke it in pieces before production when you watch it. All centering around sex, and who can get with how many different people come the end of the film. And oh dear god, never watch one of these films when someone pulls out a gun. It does not work that it is almost laughable, but you do not want to waste the energy to do so.

"Losing Control" is exactly as its name comes on. The protagonist, the leading character (the wonderfully talented and beautiful Kira Reed). The control is the control a person has over their senses, their body and feelings. And one man changes everything for her, makes her a different woman almost. But the mirror is shattered at the same time. This makes for a great film that I wish I had come up with first!!

Species: The Awakening (2007 TV Movie)

1, 2 and 3 made sense but 4... no no NO!

Being a fan of the "Species" films, especially loving Species II, I watched this with open arms. I did not think it worked. Partly because the storyline seemed so short-lived. The trailer did look a tad on the positive side though but that, is how trailers are designed. But this is nothing at all like the previous ones, except for the Alien DNA etc etc.

This has awful acting, one hell of a bad bad accent and an OK blond playing the Alien femme fatal, but not worth the 90 or so minutes that it ended up as. If the species films are ever going to work and be believable they need to be serious, with serious (good, well-known) actors. That alone would help the publicity! But no, they go for the opposite.

I even wished afterwards that I had been a director doing this film. Oh my god would I have made some CHANGES! Should have mixed the DNA with sense instead of aliens LOL

big no no no no no, cannot emphasize that enough.

Bleeders (1997)

Family blood lines taken to the dark realms...

This film first appeared to me via the television and yes, I watched it. Even found a copy of the DVD too. I think one of the reasons was that it really creep ed me out. I mean...REALLY. And it is not like me to be creep ed out but I was eating a sandwich about half-way through the film. That sandwich did not get finished LOL.

The plot and idea is a shocker (not unheard of) but if it had been taken to even more nasty levels my god, it would have been one hell of a...*shivers*. But it does have its good points and its bad points, as any film.

X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

This was one hell of a movie. It packed in so much in shorter time than it deserved. Fans of all eras of the X men history can relate here. I know I can. It is a pity that I heard a rumour upon its release that this was going to be the last!! Hell, the X men could go on for another three! There are so many mutants out there! So much history. Yes I know that Xavier was obliterated by Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix etc, but they always come back somehow. You cannot keep a good mutant down. What I would like to see is this: X Men Rise of Apocalypse. Now THERE is a movie for you! You could introduce plenty of villains and evils in that one! I love the thought of it coming to pass, if possible. It would be one hell of a roller coaster ride! As many of you know, there is such a game out there - X Men Legends II Rise of Apocalypse. And as you also know, Apocalypse looks like one nasty villain. Cast your minds back to those brief cinematic included in the game. Beast getting thrown through the window, the destruction of the X - mansion, the coming of archangel! I mean come on! Why has that not been produced? The good thing about X Men The Last Stand is that it introduces the first real mutant against mutant "war" so to speak. And also introduces the Phoenix (not as powerful or omnipotent as fans know it to be) but still, Phoenix, or "dark" phoenix was there. Callisto, Juggernaut, Angel etc, this film has those mutants that we know and that we were looking forward to finally being graced on the big screen. But there should be more. Harry Potter is still churning out the films based on the books. X men has much much more than Potter magic and the rest of the Hogwort garbage. X men is timeless and spans so much history that there is PLENTY for directors, writers and producers to sink there teeth into. I want to see an X Men IV V and VI sooner rather than later. Star Wars did it, X Men can too. Even the Spider-man films I am sure can churn out another two possibly.

Bring on more of the X men! 10/10 for X Men The Last Stand. This is one powerful film! Strikes you at your roots, your hearts and everywhere else...

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

firstly, I agree with a few comments I have read saying the silver surfer deserves better. The surfer was not given as much credit as he should have. Of course, fans of the Fantastic Four will know what it means when the Silver Surfer comes along (hint hint) but not enough respect to such a character was made. So far, I have not been impressed at all with any of the two films, neither the first or the sequel. As comics to films go, so far Fantastic Four has to be one of the worst for holding the attention. Of course, we are always rewarded at some point at the end of the film, but I was nearly ready to fall asleep at a few points! I sat wide awake through all the relationship and talk dribble of Spider-man 3 for Christ's sake. And this film is worse than worse. You would do better to read the good comics (or even the cartoon series!) Of course, it is nice seeing these comic characters being brought to the big screen and seeing them in action, but this film did not deliver on what I was expecting, or what I thought it was going to be.

I give it 5/10 very average. But I would not purchase it on DVD. If I was you, do not even pay to go and see it at the cinema. Maybe rent it someday for a quiet weekend. You'll sleep quickly - trust me

Are You Afraid of the Dark?: The Tale of the Dollmaker (1994) Season 3, Episode 5

"Most people think dolls are just toys. But when you think about it, they are really like perfect little people..."

Who out of all of us never watched this series as a kid. As kids we loved to be scared. We needed it to spawn and expand are imaginations. I still watch this series now, and now that I have the chance, I would like to share my thoughts on some of the episodes to those who come looking here for answers.

The Tale of the Dollmaker was a good story and when you think about it and go really deep in to the story (as I did), it really is quite creepy. The idea was brilliant. But when I started to watch and the story was being introduced, I thought it was going to revolve around someone who collects people as dolls or some sort of strange demon that absorbs children in to doll figures.

The basic plot of this story is that a little kids (Melissa) goes to her Aunt and Uncle for summer holiday. And she became good friends with the little girl who lived in the house next door (Susan). But when Melissa arrives for her latest visit, her Aunt and Uncle inform their Melissa that the Susan and her family (the Hendersons) moved. What they are not telling her is that the little girl actually disappeared.

Of course, Melissa is not going to give up since she finds the house the Hendersons used to live in to be somewhat strange. I give this kid credit really, she is tiny but pretty smart I'll have to admit. What she finds in the attic upstairs is a doll house. Upon looking inside one of the small windows of the doll house, she briefly sees Susan, walking around inside. Susan disappears as quickly as she appears. But Melissa makes a big mistake when she finds a way in to the doll house in hopes of finding her friend...

The creepy thing about this story is the idea, the problem that the protagonist faces when trapped inside the doll house. What I was expecting was like I mentioned earlier - something or someone turning kids in to small dolls at will and capturing them.

But the idea for this story was good, but as always, the acting of the young actors does gnaw on your mind after a while. But you learn to put up with it.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?: The Tale of the Dream Girl (1994) Season 3, Episode 10

"True Love"

From the opening, this is one of Samantha's stories. "I've got a story about something incredibly horrifying. But it's not monsters or demons, or any of the usual scary stuff," she says while she walks around the campfire to her seat. "It's about something that can strike any one of us at any time, and it's always when you least expect it". "What is it?" Gary asks "True love," answers Samantha. Of course, no one believes her. But what really got me intrigued was what she said next to their smirks. "Come on. Who says love isn't scary? It can really hurt sometimes. But love is what people live for. And in my story...it's sort of what they die for".

The Tale Of The Dream Girl: revolves around Johnny and Erica who are really close as brother and sister. And it all revolves around a ring that Johnny finds in his locker. Upon putting it on his finger, he cannot remove it and a mysterious girl begins to appear to him and her voice calls out to him. But even Johnny cannot work it out, until a little investigative work points them towards a graveyard where a shocking truth is revealed.

I loved this story just for the way it was written and how well the young actors at the time, played their parts. The ending (I won't ruin it for those who have not seen it) was both tragic and happy. Honestly, it brought a tear to my eye. This episode includes some very nice tunes as well which I love.

Enjoy "The Tale of the Dream Girl" for it is a great story.

Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991)

monsters and mutations

I first saw Godzilla vs King Ghidorah on a "monster-movie" night on TV. I loved it, however with all Godzilla movies, it takes some time for the action to start up. There is a whole story plot about having to go back in time to save Tokyo from... (guess who) Aliens from the future. But they actually want to destroy the city and re-shape and build it how they see fit. And while in the past, they release three cuddly-looking creatures referred to as "Dorats". The Dorats are exposed to the same nuclear radiation as the Godzilla dinosaur. Enter - King Ghidorah.

King Ghidorah has always been referred to as one of the space monsters. Another example would be the creature "Gigan". But this story brings forth King Ghidorah in a new way and the aliens have full control over the creature. Of course, Godzilla arrives and there are some really good fight scenes that really credit this film to glory.

However, the real fun comes at the turning point whilst Godzilla rampages through the city, one of the aliens (not a bad one), goes to the future to the same spot in the sea where King Ghidorah fell in his battle with Godzilla, and users future technology to upgrade, power-up and revive King Ghidorah. My heart jumped when the new King Ghidorah appeared in the sky in a flash of lightening and surging power.

In the first fight with Godzilla, the centre head of King Ghidorah was literally blown off. But he comes back with a powerful metallic head that really takes your breath away. It is like a powerful Tri-headed dragon robot. The thing even has spikes added the ends of its two tails! It is brilliant and the film makers have done a remarkable job at futuristic possibilities, fantasy and imagination.

I have revealed quite a bit in this rather short comment, but I will not ruin things for you by telling you what happens and who wins in the end. Enjoy this film because as Godzilla movies go, this is probably one of the better ones. The designs of the monsters have been greatly improved and look much more real that just a person wearing a dinosaur suit.

You can really believe that these are real, even in reality and in your mind. Look closely at the details of King Ghidorah's heads. Much better than when King Ghidorah first appeared and continued to re-appear against Godzilla. He looked really old and shaggy in the original Godzilla's, but now - "it" looks much better.

I give this film a high score in its own right.

'Species III': Set Invasion (2004 Video)

the next generation of alien is here...

Like so many successful films out there, a sequel soon follows. And then another sequel after that. The process continues, but normally one finds that the one that started them off is the best one of them all and the best of any trilogy.

Species 3 is the third instalment of "Species". The third film follows straight after the ending of Species 2. Eve (Natasha Henstridge) , is pregnant and has a baby. A scientist who is driving the vehicle with the alien in the back, goes against his orders and saves the alien baby after it's birth. The baby soon grows in to a fully mature women (played by Sunny Mabrey). Sarah (the alien) is the only pure alien out there now.

However, there are others...

The offspring of Patrick (from Species 2) and his mating with human women has created a race of "half breeds" - aliens that are quickly dying because of their DNA and low immune system. They need Sarah to survive. However, because Sarah is a pure form of alien, she can detect diseases and dangers in both aliens and humans that she knows to avoid, in her attempt to find the perfect mate and reproduce. Now the half breeds are after Sarah and it is up to the scientist and a younger student to help protect the alien species or die trying as it could be the end of the alien species and humanity as we know it...

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987)

The quest for peace has begun

I know it is an old film, and as Superman films go, not many people like it. But I would just like to say that I think all you idiots out there should have more respect. Superman IV is just as good as the others. I know you all seem to think that is bad because of this and that and what other reasons you may have, but you should all have more respect and just enjoy the film, regardless of its flaws.

There are films coming out and being produced at this moment that are much more worse than Superman IV The Quest For Peace.

No matter what you idiots out there think, I know this film is great in its own right. But all of you "other" Superman fans out there, just go back to your little chairs and read your comics, and leave legends alone if you cannot accept them!

Millennium (I) (1996–1999)

Wait...Worry...The The Time Is Now...

If someone were to come up to me and ask me: "What can you tell me about the TV series Millennium?" I could go on forever.

One of the nice effects about the series is that the overall dark plot of the series revolved around the end of the world coming in the year 2000. And it was produced before the year 2000. So the affect of making people wonder and turning heads worked well.

Firstly, I loved the dark atmostphere that is employed in the series. You had your conspiracy episodes revolving around the Millennium Group, who and what they are. There was so many questions going around and so many strange and painful events. The discovery of the Crucifixion cross, The Marbug Virus and the Prions, the death of Catherine Black, children being killed and going missing, the strange and undying evil of Lucy Butler. Oh my god....

Chris Carter started a legend with The X Files which I used to watch religiously, but then he went a step up and did something even better than X Files. Millennium.

I watch all three of the series's all the time, and always put it on when I am writing or just in general. I never get bored of "Owls" and "Roosters" - the two part myth arc where the Millennium Group was split right down the middle when the cross of the Crucifixion was discovered and a battle for its possession soon began. Part of the reason is that the same dark music used from the two episodes "Patient X" and "The Red and the Black" from The X Files (5th season) were used as well. And that was the other nice thing. The same creator - two different series and you can find the same music in and around parts.

Another huge aspect I love about Millennium is the Family story within it as well. Frank and his daughter, Jordan. I love that despite everything that had happened to him, Frank was still there for his little girl. And in the third series episode "Borrowed Time", I nearly cried at all the emotions displayed and felt so sorry for Frank - a single father going through the possibility that he was close to losing his daughter (and he had already lost his wife). The family aspect is amazing and heart-warming to see. Lance Henriksen and Brittany Tiplady did some fantastic acting and performances.

Millennium is an experience that NO fiction, horror and thriller fan should EVER go without. It is a pity that no films have been made based on the series...

Thunderbirds (1965–1966)

Thunderbirds are go!

How can you not give Thunderbirds 10/10? For it's time, it was an amazing creation. And to this day, it still is incredible to watch. Did you know that Gerry Anderson did not think that Thunderbirds would be great at all when he started it? Nearly everyone knows or at least has heard of Thunderbirds. I still love the music, absolutely incredible and breath-taking scores I have ever heard. And the machines - the creation of a very good mind. And the nice thing about Thunderbirds is that, despite its flaws (and we can all see them) , you look past the puppets, the strings and accept it for what it is - a masterpiece. And we ALL have our favourite episodes. The silly ones and the more incredible ones. If you are reading these comments right now and have not seen at least one episode of Thunderbrids, then shame on you! Go ahead - rent it or buy it. There are only 5 numbers and we all that count down...

As a child, it was a show I watched all the time, so much that I know all the episodes by heart. And I still watch it now.

American Psycho II: All American Girl (2002 Video)

American Psycho - angry, sexy and deadly. American Psycho 2 - angrier, sexier, deadlier....

I LOVE this film. It labours in as a comedy/horror. I would hardly call it a horror though. There is not much gore to speak of...

I like this film because it contains some well known and favoured actors. I love Mila Kunis (of That 70's Show fame) who plays the psycho this time around. And she is brilliant at the part she plays. And William Shatner (of Star Trek fame) - an actor I always love and admire, is great in the film too.

If the film's soundtrack did not sound like a walking clown parade, I think the film may have been more darker than it tended to let on. I wonder how long it will be until we see an American Psycho 3? I would recommend giving this one a look.

Omen IV: The Awakening (1991 TV Movie)

Damien Thorn is dead, but the prophecy continues

The terror continues in a new descendant of hell...

Most people say that Omen IV The Awakening should not really be included in the Omen Trilogy. We had one, two and three and that was good enough. Then we had this film and then a bad attempt at doing another Omen film in 2006, which was basically a copycat of what had already been done. Just shows that all the good ideas have been used.

What I liked about Omen IV The Awakening, is that the Omen story had spawned in to a new type of evil. I am not disputing that this film was better than the others. On the contrary, i found the first Omen to be a classic. In Omen IV The Awakening, the evil is now in the form of a young girl named Delia, and her connection with Damien and her part in the Omen story is quite a chilling and a creepy revelation. I love this film, but have seen and know many people who do not. Basically for the one reason that they say it ruins the Omen legend and the horror that was created years and years ago. But it is people's own damn fault if they cannot look beyond that.

I find it very refreshing seeing the female as the evil, even if she is a little girl. Delia (played Asia Viera), has a certain darkness behind her anyway. I think it is the actress's face that just makes her look powerful. As if her facial expression is saying to you: "I am unstoppable and superior to you all". And it is true, the evil is unstoppable.

In the first 3, we saw a young boy grow into a powerful man - the omen - the Antichrist. Now, we have his daughter who will reign in the new omen, the new king. "One man, and one religion".

Faye Grant plays the character of Karen York very well. Being a fan of the beautiful actress makes me like this film even more than i do. I love the arc of the story, how it surfaces the evil that is contained in Biblical references in to a new light. This film runs around the start and the beginning of Armageddon - the final confrontation between the forces of good and evil. The first film introduced Natasha Henstridge as the alien "Sil". Now she is back, recreated as a half human/half alien called "Eve".

But there is another trouble ahead. We have seen what the alien was like in "Species". Now it is the other gender as well...

NASA's recent mission to Mars brings back an unexpected surprise. For years many scientists have wondered whether there was life on Mars, but the astronauts that land on it bring back life with them. Alien life... The soil samples that the astronauts bring back from the planet contain alien DNA that infects the crew. Only one of the crew is fully infected with the alien DNA - Patrick Ross. Once back on Earth, Patrick goes about mating with human women and producing offspring on at an alarming rate, becoming more alien than human. But with two aliens on Earth, it is not long until the two are bound to cross paths. And then, it is the end of the world as we know it.

The film brings back Michael Madsen and Marg Helgenberger from the 1st film, back to fight the alien menace for a second time. But having a male alien and a female alien out there is bound to cause problems. And even though Eve is half human, anyone can see that the other alien half is going to get in the way. But as you will see in the film, the scientists get themselves into trouble by firstly creating an alien, and then re-awakening dormant alien genes in her to find Patrick. It just goes to show how powerful the sex drive is... alien or human.

Spider's Web (2002)

Once bitten by lust, you can't escape the trap

DVD synopsis:

A sexy executive (Kari Wuhrer, "Eight Legged Freaks", "Anaconda") is seduced by a younger man (Stephen Baldwin, "The Usual Suspects") into stealing $40 million from his politically ambitious father. As the elaborate swindle is set in motion and their erotically-charged affair reaches a boiling point, the two begin to question the intentions of one another. Is he pampered rich boy getting his kinky kicks with an experienced older woman or is she a shrewd black widow out to make a killing? As the bodies pile up and the double-crosses multiply, one will be left holding the fortune, while the other will be caught in a web of deadly deception.

Who is going to be the overall winner? Wuhrer or Baldwin? You cannot help but wonder but what happens to them in the film is their own stupid faults. It seems that no one is this world can get enough and it is true. Everyone wants what they cannot have and what is not theirs to be deserved or had. I have watched this film many times, and there is so many double crosses, over-laps, deceit and betrayal that when I think about it, it is almost as if that the film is a jigsaw puzzle, whose pieces have been scattered after completion.

All though good, I am sorry to say that the "money" thrillers have been done time and time again and now, it is hard to find or come up with new and unique ideas.

Poison Ivy (1992)

DVD synopsis:

One look and you can tell she's trouble. The bleached blonde hair, the pouting lips, the skirt just short enough to show off the tattoo on her thigh. But Cooper (Sara Gilbert), herself an outsider, like the newcomer's style. She befriends her and before long the loner she nicknames Ivy (Drew Barrymore) becomes part of Cooper's family. But for Ivy a handful of home comforts is not nearly enough. She becomes obsessed by desire for Cooper's father and vows that no-one, least of all Cooper's mother, is going to stop her from having him. And so the household is drawn into a web of deadly attractions where sex, lies, even murder are the weapons in a terrifying fight for survival.

Well, the back of the DVD tells you enough, but let me tell you why i give this film 10/10.

Drew Barrymore plays one hell of sinister character here. The title of the film portrays what this film is all about, so perfectly that I have fallen in love with this film. It will always be one of the best of its kind, for all time. Drew Barrymore is like poison here, infecting and taken over everything in her path. But to every Antagonist, there must be a Protagonist.

All in all, this film has a certain passion to it and however deadly the "new friend" is, it is a beautifully told story that has a perfect beginning, middle and end. So much that I wish I had been the man to write this story for the film. 10/10 - absolutely!

Body Shots (1999)

DVD synopsis: When eight twenty-somethings, four guys and four girls, set off on a wild ride through L.A.'s nightlife, they get more-and-less-than they bargained for. Fuelled by the need for love and intimacy, the evening takes them on a crash course through the turbulent world of sex and dating.

OK, let's face it. Most young guys out there who fancy Tara Reid like there is no tomorrow, will watch this film just for that one reason and too see her have sex. Now please, let's get serious. Body Shots boast a very good cast, excellent directing and quite an incredible storyline. It really shows the conflict that could and can happen with one-night stands, and the battle of the genders. It is always someone's word against the other. But who would "you" believe? The film is funny in some places, with some naughty and raunchy attitude from some of the characters. And there are some great one-liners. But what amazed me most is how well Tara Reid pulls off her character's emotions. She really give it great credit and you really sympathise with her. But you are still left with the unending question: What is the truth? What really happened?

Cruel Intentions 3 (2004 Video)

Cruel Intentions soon became a trilogy. We had Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon in the beginning. That soon evolved in to a very bad copy cat - Cruel Intentions 2: Manchester Prep, with Sarah Thompson, Robin Dunne, Amy Adams, Keri Lynn Pratt and Mimi Rogers. And then we had - Cruel Intentions 3.

The third instalment of the "Cruel Intentions" stars Kerr Smith, Kristina Anapau and Nathan J. Wetherington. When i watched this film when it first came out, I found it a great teenager film. The film boasts a nice soundtrack and some pretty good acting as well. And a really evil story plot, worth of being called "Cruel Intention". Bets, money, games, sex, rape, secrets - you name it. Cruel Intentions 3 oozes it all.

Soon she becomes addicted to th allure of listening to other peoples most intimate conversations. Sharing her secret with her best friend Krista, the two women continue to surf the airwaves. Both frightened and excited about what they listen to, Sarah and Krista are drawn unwittingly into a sinister and deadly turn of events.

One of the things I like most about this film in particular is that it has a very clever way of showing to the audience that not all those you trust and love are who they say they are. And that some secrets should remain secret. I first saw this film on television one night when I was younger and being a lover of suspense thrillers such as this, I really liked it but did not quite understand it the first time. Now that I have in my film collection, i watch it often and love it to this day. This is a good film, despite that some may say that the acting is poor or the storyline is not good enough, i recommend that you watch it for yourself.

The Crush (1993)

Romantic obsession has harrowing consequences in "The Crush"

Jim Svejda of KNX-RADIO/LOS ANGELES, quoted this film as: "Scary, stylish and very sexy. A top-notch thriller". All he said is very true to the point.

"The Crush", revolves around a reporter, Nick (Cary Elwes) who quickly becomes an obsession for 14 year old Adrian (Alicia Silverstone). At first, it is just simple flirting from a young girl who obviously has a crush, but Adrain's flirting soon turns to deadly and frightening...

It is always the calm before the storm and the chills that the story builds up to explodes in such amazement, it is almost hard to believe someone who is nearly 15 years old could be capable of what Adrian does. This film just goes to show how dangerous a simple crush can be. Jealousy, rage and obsession are never too far behind. And the obsession of the character is played very well by Alicia Silverstone. Nothing is ever quite what it seems...
