Brilliant comedy
23 March 2024
This movie deserves all the love it can get. Fantastic characters, great story and direction and brilliant acting. Divyenndu steals the show with his unbelievable timing and conviction, and the rest of the cast fits around him beautifully. Kunal Kemmu, take a bow!

Quite obviously inspired by The Hangover, the story is really well put together to create many many moments of legit situational comedy, which we haven't seen in some time. Go watch with the same friends you watched Dil Chahta Hai with.

From the way they ended it, it felt like they will be tempted to do a sequel, and to that I say bring it on!

Air (I) (2023)

Don't get the high ratings
21 July 2023
This movie is just a plain dud. I loved the idea of watching a behind the scenes movie about Michael Jordan, or even the story behind Air Jordans, but a) they didn't focus on MJ at all, and b) there really wasn't that much of a story to tell about Air Jordans.

There was absolutely no drama, no high stakes, no aha moments, no big scenes. Everything just felt matter-of-factly, in fact I felt like I'm trapped in a 1980s corporate office. Matt Damon just went through the movie pretty much with the same look on his face. In fact they made it seem like the only real reason MJ signed the Nike contract was for the higher money, so what was the movie celebrating anyways?

But most of all, I'm just sad that wasted such a great cast. Jason Bateman was essentially a bystander through the film. Chris Tucker is back after years, and gets maybe 5 inconsequential minutes. And what was Ben Affleck doing in the movie? He just walked in, said 'no' and then said 'yes' 2 minutes later, and we dont even know why he suddenly changed his mind.

The Expanse (2015–2022)

One of the best sci-fi shows on TV
27 April 2023
I started watching only recently (2023). And i cannot stop watching, I don't know why I waited so long. I had started onve before but couldn't stay involved beyond an episode or 2. I guess it takes a couple of episodes to start getting into it, and then there's no looking back!

Everything is downright awesome. The characters are all very well defined and stay their course theough the seasons, the drama and politics is beautifully envisioned and never feels forced or silly. And the best part is the dialogue, even the 'bad guys' have some brilliant lines that show their deep conviction and motivations very well.

This is a must watch.

Not a player of the game. The show didn't deliver for me
2 March 2023
I wanted to love this show and eagerly await every new episode. And beyond the first 2 weeks, I've been more or less disappointed every time. It's clear that the show is trying to focus more on the human stories than on action, but given that, I'm surprised by their casting choices. Melanie Lynskey was downright bad for a key role through a major part of the season, and Bella Ramsey just doesn't seem to be working for the lead role. And everything about episode 8 was quite forgettable. Actually episode 8 felt a lot more like the videos inside games than a TV show, maybe that's what they were going for? In any case, the show isn't living up to the hype and while I'll still watch the remaining episodes, I'm no longer expecting anything cool.
