This movie is definitely worth calling the Indian Bond. While the visual effects, action sequences, casting all hit the sweet spot..there's also the Bollywood factor which is like a double edged sword.
When Bollywood tries to ape a Hollywood movie (Players anyone?), more often than not it comes out quite obnoxious. While Agent Vinod is not exactly copying Bond or Bourne, the movie comes on it's own; Defining it's own style. This is good news. Some Bollywood movies go crazy with the gizmos and cars which come out rather hilarious. Agent Vinod keeps everything subtle without once making you thing "Oh that's over the top". Well maybe just once.
Bollywood being bollywood, Agent Vinod has a sequence in the end which is heavily influenced from a Tom Hanks movie. This was the only moment in the movie that made me say "You idiots, you had it!".
In spite of that, I would still recommend this movie to action buffs. Agent Vinod is definitely more than decent and there is plenty of room left for a sequel and I would watch that 1st day 1st show. Just as long as they don't copy any other movie and keep the song sequences and typical Bollywood emotional ride to a bare minimum. (Kareena's character went a bit overboard).
