A disappointment
14 April 2006
I didn't expect to be blown away by this film, but i expected a good time. I thought that the topic was somewhat original, and the trailers seemed promising. Alas, once you've seen the trailers, you've pretty much seen the funny parts already. While this film isn't bad it kind of get cheesy at times. Johnny plays Johnny and not Jean-Philippe, a character that should have been more developed, the story is ill conceived and the end is plain silly. Add that cheesiness to a very bad song that closes the film and you somehow regret you paid 8,50 euros to have seen it. I heard the Americans are already on it to buy the rights and have thought to make their movie revolving around Madonna or Springsteen. For once i think the American version has a good chance to be better than the original at least. I also enjoyed "true lies" better than "La totale" though.

Pretty good 2nd one

OK, i loved L'auberge Espagnole so my expectations were high. I didn't know what to expect even though after having read some of the reviews and opinions on here i knew i was in for some good 2 hours.

And it really was good. The good thing about it is that it's not a remake of the first one. While some will probably miss the whole mixing of nationalities, we can enjoy the fact that the characters are more developed, the story is in the continuity of the first one, and some references are made to L'auberge, but they seem natural.

The girls are beautiful,(Xavier is a really lucky guy), the English girl playing Wendy is even more beautiful than in the first one and the fact that we travel so much during this film is the cherry on the cake.

For a very good moment, go see this one.

I loved it

I don't understand why this film didn't get more exposure cause it sure is a UFO of a film. Knowing where it is going is impossible. Berléand as the media tycoon is incredible, Canet perfect in his ready-to-do-anything-to-succeed character, and Krugger is just stunning.

Cold sense of humor.

Original screenplay.

A good film to rent.

The end is pure poetry and a reflexion on what our society has become.

Recommended ? Of course.

Dreams are my reality
26 January 2005
A bit of my youth. Always feel a bit nostalgic watching this. 6 or 7 /10 for the film, 10/10 for the nostalgic part of me.

Sing with me people :

Met you by surprise, I didn't realize that my life would change forever Saw you standing there, I didn't know I cared there was something special in the air Dreams are my reality, the only kind of real fantasy Illusions are a common thing I try to live in dreams It seems as if it's meant to be Dreams are my reality, a different kind of reality I dream of loving in the night And loving seems alright Although it's only fantasy

If you do exist, honey don't resist show me a new way of loving Tell me that it's true, show me what to do I feel something special about you Dreams are my reality, the only kind of reality may be my foolishness has past And may be now at last I'll see how a real thing can be Dreams are my reality, a wonderous world where I like to be I dream of holding you all night and holding you seems right perhaps that's my reality

Met you by surprise, I didn't realize that my life would change forever Tell me that it's true, feelings that are cue I feel something special about you Dreams are my reality, a wonderous world where I like to be Illusions are a common thing I try to live in dreams although it's only fantasy Dreams are my reality, I like to dream of you close to me I dream of loving in the night and loving you seems right Perhaps that's my reality

Renegade (2004)
Zzzzzzz,Zzzzzz,Zzzzzzz Oh sorry, is it Over ???

I had great expectations with this film. It had Vincent Cassel, The cinematography looked great, my favorite Cinema magazine (studio) was exited by it.... How could it go wrong ??????? Well, it could. It's boring, boring, boring. Unless you have a university degree on shamanism, an indian relative or your family in law is shaman, well prepare to be in for the longest 2 hours of your life. And those special effects supposed to take us through what Cassel's character is going through, are just a pain for the eyes. The last sequence seem to last forever. My eyes are still soring from that secret experience ( as the tagline underlined ). I wish it had remained secret indeed.

oh no!

I went to see this a few days ago, and it's hard to forget that film...for the wrong reasons. This film is supposed to be funny, it's not, not a single laugh in the theatre( perhaps for josé garcia and gérard Depardieu ), and it's boring, boring, boring. It was even hard sometimes to understand what they were saying. They just talk to fast and don't open their enough for us to understand. I was with a friend and more than 4 or 5 times i caught myself saying after a line that was supposed to be funny " what, what did he say", and i'm french. I hate to say that, given the fact that i think good films are made here, but i apologise in advance for all foreigners who will go see the film ( if ever shown outside of France ).

We're deeply sorry for that cr@p. 2/10
