Fargo (1996)
Dumb Movie-Worst Best Actress Oscar Winner Ever
Waited years to see this movie with high anticipation and was grossly disappointed in both the dialog and just plain dumb acting. How MacDormand ever got an Oscar for best actress in a minimal role that all I saw was a incompetent police chief stuffing herself in almost every scene with minimal if not limited dialog ranks as the biggest ripoff of other more deserving actors that lost to this incompetent role. How this movies being ranked at 8.6 shows me there are a lot of people that have no idea what a good movie is. This wass a sham to see a real life event recreated in this way that even the Blur-ray went straight into the garbage because I would be embarrassed to have someone else be tortured in viewing this.
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)
A Total Waste of Time
Hmmm... 9 Oscar nominations and I wonder what the jury was drinking (hint: Tequila maybe?) while this film played? How can a movie that is basically made by an amateur director, bring forth a reaction like this while other films of greater quality scope are ignored? I get it, a new name from the tequila country just south of the border and an abstract film with no serious plot makes it so different for those that love being differente. Wow... and for that, they created a new curiosity of the masses to be fooled (including yours truly) to watch this piece of trash and waste 2 hours of a human being's life. OK, why am I so critical you might ask? Well, remember the play critic at the bar and why she hated the play? Hint? because it was filled with inept so- called actors, that couldn't act no matter how much they prayed? Well almost, unfortunately the movie plot proved to show how bad it can be to make those actors look absolutely ridiculous and the public wasting their time viewing it. This movie is really for .... the birds!! .. BTW, the film score drummer needs to seriously find another occupation, it drove me nuts hearing that wire on snare drum repeat over and over like a broken record.
There Will Be Blood (2007)
There Won't Be Blood
This film does not even deserve the 1 star it got...the only reason it got it was because IMDb does not offer no stars. If 1 star is "Awful" then 0 stars must mean it is downright a "Disgrace". For 2+ hours I watched this much anticipated film with only knowing that DDL won an Oscar for the performance of the year, Well if this is an indication of excellence in acting, then someone needs to revise the Method acting book and include a new chapter called "A sucker is born every minute". This film was absolutely pointless and like DDL's poor interpretation of a drunkard, I really needed, like him, a drink to try to put everything into sync. Too bad the liquor did not work for me. DDL's acting: Legend has it that DDL's acting techniques are legendary because he immerses himself into the role months before shooting begins and then takes months after shooting has stopped to get back to normal. Well I could swear if I closed my eyes and every time he opened his mouth to say something, I thought it was John Huston talking. Wow, this is great acting indeed, a ventriloquist interpreting John Huston....I will not go into details here like those folks that thought this movie was better than slice bread but I will say this, the movie was not a movie but really a bad dream and I'm glad I've awaken to find out it was only a bad dream....let's all hope there are no nightmares to come.
Indigènes (2006)
A War Film That Explifies Human Tragedy
This is a French film that "Explifies Human Tragedy". One, it shows the dark side of war and the reasons why good vs. bad is being defended and it also exemplifies clearly how those we consider the good guys, are actually in the same category as the enemy...Racists. It is a film that shows the unknown exploits of brave North African "French" WWII recruits fighting alongside French compatriots to expel the Germans from their homeland...France. We have all come accustomed to seeing so many movies of WWII, showing in detail why the Germans were so bad, yet we have never been exposed in great detail as this film as illustrated, the realities of a double standard that was practiced in those days by the victors of a repressive regime. This is a film that touches all of us and tells us what it means to be loyal and patriotic as well as exposing that thin veil that no matter where you come from, what color or creed you may be, Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is fought with that regard in mind. Unfortunately, as this film illustrates, those ideas are an exception to the need for victory and an exception to the rule of becoming a second class citizen again when those rules do not apply any longer. This film left me with such a deep understanding like no other WWII film I have seen in my 50+ years. It left me with deep respect to those men of little education but full of monumental pride and dignity. I highly recommend this film and personally think that it was one of the best films I have ever seen. The acting from mostly unknown actors is simply a miracle and the director certainly deserves more credit than he has received. How this film ever got released without the accolades it rightly deserves is certainly one of the greatest omissions in movie history.
