Dave Made a Maze (2017)
Why do so many people loves this?
Great visuals, terrible dialogue. The girlfriend character had to have been written by a man bc her level of tolerance and patience for her dumbass boyfriend and his mission to make something out of cardboard while whining about having to be an adult is either angelic or self-abusive, either way completely unrealistic. There are a couple of fun moments but I had to turn it off halfway through because the creativity isn't enough to overcome the annoyance factor. It is nice to see something other than the usual sequels, and I do hate to pan something that appears to be made with heart. Hopefully someone will do a more professional remake.
Margaret Cho: PsyCHO (2015)
Such a bummer
Margaret Cho used to be so funny and real. Now she's so desperate to be cool and relevant that her shows feel like lectures, or like being cornered by a know it all at a dull house party. Just dreadful.
Extinction (2018)
Will make you up your birth control dosage
Could have been great, or at least entertaining. But the kids are so annoying and problematic that I had to turn it off halfway through. I was starting to root for the aliens. You can get this kind of whining and error causing at your local grocery store.
The Starling (2021)
Total Waste of Great Actors
Hallmark channel dreck! I hope the three leads made a ton of money bc this was a complete waste of their talents otherwise. Unrealistic and corny, I watched close to the end hoping it would turn itself around but it never did.
La forêt (2017)
If you enjoy hysterical, incompetent gendarmes...
Then this is the show for you. I'm on the 4th episode and still watching because I'm in it this far and it's engaging enough to want to see the mystery solved. But the main character is nearly unbearable viewing. She's obnoxious, annoying and screws up every step of the way, pulling the viewer out of the story and ruining any possibility of realism. The first episode had a lot of promise, now we're just veering wildly downhill while this actress gnaws on all the good looking scenery. Probably best to fast forward through the tantrums and screw ups just to see who did it.
The Uninvited (2009)
So dumb
If you like teenage hotties in bikinis this is gonna be great for you. Not scary, like an Instagram influencer story with lip gloss. I'm going to find the original to watch since from all reports that seems to be the way to go.
Dirty Love (2005)
I disagree with everyone here
I think this movie is hilarious. It's cheesy, it's camp, it's over the top, it's a tad idiotic, but it's funny. And just for the record, I hated Dumb and Dumber and am usually a fan of more highbrow comedy, but I could watch this movie over and over again. It reminds me of my girlfriends in goofier moments. Maybe people find it difficult to watch attractive women acting silly and/or crass? Jenny McCarthy seems to garner more vitriol than warranted, and I can't help thinking that the way she looks might have something to do with the anger being spewed in some of these reviews. In any case, if you are female and not afraid of a few fart or period jokes, and are looking for something slightly mindless to watch on a Saturday night, give it a chance.
