Go West (2023)
Funniest movie since The Hangover
I wasn't sure what to expect when I received advance screening tickets to this movie, but I was delightfully surprised at how many laughs were packed into just 90 minutes of screen time. I was laughing so hard in several places I was crying!
I was especially impressed with the way they focused on being historically accurate. I actually felt at times like I had been transported into the old west!
You could tell there was a tremendous effort put into the lighting and sound mixing. It was very impressive.
On a final note, the narration by Frodo himself was outstanding! Highly recommend this movie!
Lady Chatterley's Lover (2022)
Amazing Performances
I am somewhat surprised at some of the negative comments about this movie. Sure, it doesn't carry the same amount of emotional gravitas as a Schindlers List or Home Alone, but it delivers a knockout punch with the pure intensity of its leads. I am sure this movie will stand the test of time.
I do have one criticism however. While I love the performances of the leads, I think they should have been played by British actors and not Americans. Since the film is set in Wales, it only makes sense for the actors to be locals.
Overall it is a solid production and I wouldn't be surprised to see it be in awards contention next year.
ABJECT (2022)
Amazing Symbolism & Imagery
A story about a husband and wife trying to save their marriage is nothing new, but portraying it through symbolism and imagery adds a whole new dimension to it. I especially enjoyed the meaning behind the wife wrestling with the snake. The parallel with Eve trying to resist the snake in the Garden of Eden and failing meant to me she was going to fail in saving her marriage.
The movie also does a good job of warning about the dangers of drug use in a non-controlled setting. A doctor that prescribes drugs without going over the possible side effects is malpractice to me.
Overall the movie is solid and I highly recommend.
