Shrek 2 (2004)
Shrek The Fabulous become Shrek The Feeble
As the princess after Shrek's kiss converted into an sympathetic ogre, "Shrek-2", after public's and critic's kisses converted into the bore. "Shrek 2" is a dumb and mindless romantic musical with slight elements of comedy. What we loved in the first movie? It was unpredictable, fresh, totally opposed to Disney-like routine. "Shrek 2" is absolutely predictable, it's dated, it successfully copying Disney-like routine. This sequel is like the couple of worst romantic scenes taken from "Shrek 1" extended into the fulltime movie. Most jokes aren't work, some of them are the examples of ordinary closet humor. The movie itself is not total disaster. However it's completely confusing, that people accepted this patchy work with recording box-office profits. Even less-than-genius 'Finding Nemo' looks like masterpiece compared with 'Shrek' sequel. Sorry, folks, you've got your VERY BIG money not for fair work. I don't know, why creators of Shrek goin' to make a 'Shrek 3' based on King Arthur story. With their bleak comedy vision and diminishing skills it's going to be a complete failure in the world, where exists such masterpiece as 'Monty Python And The Holy Grail' yet.
School of Rock (2003)
Mediocre but funny movie... where are Spinal Tap now?
The prime source of mediocrity of this movie is an ordinary script talentlessly performed by Jack Black. However this movie brings very much fun to everyone, who wants to have a laugh with famous (and favourite too) rock bands' references... and reverences. The reason i enjoyed this movie - are freaky and charming placements of AC/DC, Ramones, Led Zep, White Stripes and many many more heavy/punky rockin' bands. It's a charming movie experience in these times, when most of the screens stuffed with hip-hop, r&b and other doubtful stars performances. It's very strangely and mysteriuos thing - to see the rock'n'roll movie with No sex and NO drugs... and with NO violence too. The most abusing thing in this movie - is a pint of beer, drunk by high school principal!
Along the Way (1992)
Most solid and entertaining punk rock video show ever
"Along The Way", named as catchiest Bad Religion' song, captures the band in 1989, shortly after their breakthrough with "Suffer" album. It recorded (i guess so) with one camera only at 14 European shows, and mixed in one 27 songs set. Every track is as great as you MUST to imagine. All song taken from BR earliest records, such as "How Could Hell Be Any Worse?", "Back To The Known EP" and "Suffer", and (almost) all of them are true melodic hardcore classic. This video contains no fillers, no silly gags (like sometimes pointless NOFX videos), and no reasons to call it attitude'less performance. And remember - this is one the rare relatively high quality video shots of American punk rock in 80's. Must own for every punk-head.
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
It's not a disappointment, it's a fabulous disaster
Matrix reloaded is a biggest fiasco since ATTACK OF THE CLONES. All the things we loved in Matrix-1 was devastated by the brothers in this incredibly poor sequel. There is no atmosphere, no real action (just an imitation of action), no acting, no sense at all, no meaning... just nothing, except for pompous monologues and stupid lifeless fx. When i saw it on the big screen , a half of the audience was laughing permanently, because Matrix Reloaded was funnier than the most stipid cinematographic sci-fi parodies... It's so incredibly silly and looking more like pointless TV-series, such as Star Trek or Babylon 5, than like a really cool cult movie. Matrix Reloaded is a disastrous pile of useless ideas and burnt money.
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
joyful and breathtaking experience of dumbness
I loved Episodes IV, V, VI. I loved 'The Phantom Menace' and watched it three times on big screen and countless on VHS and DVD. Yesterday I saw 'Attack Of The Clones' and have no wish to see it again. Why? This is not because Episode II worse than earlier Episodes. It's not truth. 'Attack' is the same breathtaking outstanding FX show as the early ones. This is just because the times are changing. And after the such startling epic movie as we got with 'Lord Of The Rings' there's no more chances for Star Wars to make the same enormous, fabulous impact. George Lucas, your time is gone. Sorry. Affected sci-fi dumbness is no funny anymore.

Spider-Man (2002)
One of the new century FX movies
Ten years ago it was impossible to make movie like that. Watch for Batman 1 and 2 and feel the difference. XXI century bring us the new movie breed. And i'm happy that fathers of this breed are greatly talented directors - such as Peter Jackson, George Lucas and... of course Sam Raimi. Not only computers made the great job, that we beholds at Spiderman. For example, Chris Columbus never achieves this high new-century-entertainment level in disastrously boring "Harry Potter"... however he used the same computers. Raimi exposed all the depth and width of his frenetic creativity. And now we got the second great comics movie since Tim Burton's Batmans. Thank you, Sam.
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Senseless movie, filmed by A.I.
The prime A.I. of this movie - is a director. This very sensitive story filmed with no any real human senses. I never felt really touched by its characters' actions and emotions. It looks like robots have made a movie about sophisticated human feelings. Steven Spielberg destroyed the greatly written fairy tale and turn it into extremely boring cavalcade of beautiful shots. There is no love in this movie. There is just talking about love.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Not the best Jackson's film, but the best fantasy one
All my hopes to see another great extreme-styled Jackson's movie were failed. But another side of my hopes - to see a great screening of THE Great Book - was reached at impossibly high level. And today I got an real shock to my nervous system. Three years ago it was absolutely impossible for me to dream to see as PJ nominated for 13(!!) Oscars. And he deserved it, deserved for each sequence in this 3-hrs movie - one of the most quick and most terse movies I ever saw.
