Solace (2015)
Oddly, And Personally Relatable, And Should Not Be Underestimated
In the illustrious State of Illinois, I solved a crime around two weeks before the police did. THEY don't know I did, but I did solve it because I SAW what the police did not.
I run a volunteer investigative agency, which assists our local law enforcement whenever needed. No psychic abilities, just common sense, and pinpoint observations... and Occam's Razor when it fits. Okay, enough of that.
"Solace," to me, is a masterpiece of the intrigues, mysteries, and the desperate struggles of good people fighting to stop despicable evils. The ensemble that made this movie cannot be underrated. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been rated almost like an "extra" in "Solace," when, in fact, he's the tragic hero, whose spark starts the fire which is the role of the great Sir Anthony Hopkins.
The ensemble is perfection, and "Solace" was twisted perfection. I loved it!
Disappearance in Yellowstone (2022)
Predictable But Watchable
The movie was predictable in the action, the character interactions, etc. With a couple of minor exceptions, and one major surprise at the end. Yes, Smokey The Bear is real.
I always enjoy watching the bad guys get it at the end, especially in the volunteer work that I do.
Is "Disappearances in Yellowstone" an Academy Award winner? No, it is not. It is a fun movie to watch, with villainous overacting (the villain was horrible), but the haunting truth of familial serial killer reality gives us food for thought.
For serious students of criminology, this movie may not be for you, but it is fun.
