Suddenly (1954)
Intense film, with a few interesting lines
I have seen this film a few times and liked it more after repeat viewings. Sinatra was as great an actor as he was as a singer. Menacing and believably dangerous as he controls the set. He was perfect as a psychopathic hired killer. No feelings or attachments to killing, just rewards. He explains how killing in battle can become an addiction and power trip, something world leaders should consider before engaging in pointless, open-ended wars. This is one of the results.
There was a moment when he said he didn't know who was paying him and didn't care. No reason given, no political theorems. Just a man and a job. It reminds me of the Joe Pesci line from the film "JFK".
"It's a mystery, wrapped up in a riddle inside an enigma! The shooters don't even know, don't you get it!?!" Great food for thought.
