Madame Web (2024)
Ladies and Gentlemen... THE NEW MORBIUS!!!!
... I don't even know how to start this... that was TERRIBLE... when I first read the plot for this movie I thought "man, Spider-Women trying to protect Ben, Mary , and baby Peter Parker from getting killed by Spider-Man villians sounds cool" but when they changed the plot to this... I threw up... The camera angles and CGI were so bad I feel like Michael Bay would've shot this movie for free just to help. The acting and dialogue was so poor it almost seemed like a Kindergarten kid scribbled it with crayons somehow into a script. The action scenes were so boring I checked my phone to see who directed it just so I never watch a movie directed by them again. This movie made me want to give the 2010 Avatar: The Last Airbender movie another try... I'm just in utter shock... I don't even know why I gave this movie a 2/10 and I feel like that's generous. There was absolutely NOTHING LIKABLE about this movie and it's sad...
The Book of Clarence (2023)
If you love the Bible, go into this movie with an open mind lol
This was an interesting take on the New Testament story of Jesus and Clarence. Of course it was inaccurate to the Bible, but we could tell it was going to be based off the trailer. There were a lot of funny moments in this movie that left me and others trying to hold in our laughter, but the way things were going it was hard not to. The beginning and middle of the movie was boring a bit for me which made me tune out because it seemed obvious what was going to happen, but the story took an unexpected turn towards the end of the movie that actually got my attention. The music and soundtrack was very good to me, but honestly it wasn't a bad film, just don't expect anything to be just like the Bible.
The Menu (2022)
Very, very interesting to watch, but I wish for a different ending
I could tell that something was off when a bunch of people were going to a deserted island to eat food, but I did not expect what was going to take course for the rest of the movie. Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) scared me once again in another movie. This gave me Saw vibes, but not as extreme. I'm still confused on some points of the movie as to why the certain chefs were a part of his plan and what they may have done to be there, but it's a movie and what I saw was satisfactory. I wish there was more to show us after the ending we got, but I guess it might be something for us to interpret on our own. I did not feel that the ending was the best and maybe wayyy too short for my liking.
The Boys in the Boat (2023)
Boat scenes were nice, but nothing new
After watching "Inglorious B*******" for the first time a couple days ago (which I loved by the way) this was a nicer way of sticking it to Hitler in a non-violent, less Quentin Tarantino way which I missed while watching this. There were some nice scenes that somewhat connected the crew together along with nice scenes of them in the water rowing the boat, but if I am being real... it doesn't really do anything new or interesting compared to other Olympic feel good stories. It follows the same plan as other sports feel good movies which makes it a little boring to watch because you know EXACTLY what is going to happen next. It was shot pretty well, but it just didn't feel special or different. I'm glad we made Hitler angry though.
P. S. Lt. Aldo Raine would have made the funniest coach to "The Boys in the Boat" (think about it)
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023)
Honestly... not bad at all
I went in with low expectations, but if I'm being honest (speaking as an Aquaman hater besides the animated version on the Justice League Animated show) I liked this movie. Black Manta honestly was really, really cool in this sequel and the fight scenes that took place in this movie were what I expect superhero films to do more of when it comes to beings going toe-to-toe with super strength. The fight scenes that take place towards the end of the movie is what I was hoping for Ant-Man 3, The Flash, and The Marvels to show us so I appreciate James Wan and everyone else who worked on the editing and fight choreography. After seeing this movie, I wish this wasn't the end of the DCEU, or Jason Momoa's Aquaman. I don't know how Gunn is going to top it, but it will be interesting to see.
