2012 (2009)
One of my favorites
I have to say, I love this disaster movie. For the people who give this a bad rating, I wonder how much they appreciate disaster movies. You see, a disaster movie is about a character you root for and the special effects. This had all of that! I loved root for John Cusack and his family. I love the religious elements in the movie that were subtly (and not so subtly) hinted at. The special effects were amazing! I am so impressed when movie makers can make it look as real as this does. So, yes, there is a lot of this movie you can criticize but just watch it for the entertainment and fun. You'll be glad you did it!
Miami 7 (1999)
Cute show for what it was
I recall watching this in the afternoons after school growing up. Haven't seen it in years but recall this being a charming show with a pop group obviously generated by music moguls. Groups like this were really popular at the time. Cute humor and I was always a fan of their music. The kind of show you shouldn't watch if you are looking for award winning entertainment. Just watch it for fun.
St. Elsewhere (1982)
Good show but complicated ending
So, I had to put this somewhere. But this ending was so strange compared to everything else going on in the show. What I felt it said was this man who lost his friend because of a stroke laid his head back and imagined for a moment another, simpler life for himself where he had his friend back and support for his son. It's kind of like what we, the viewer, do when we watch this show. We imagine for a second a new life for ourselves. Anyways, I thought the acting was great, and I love David Morse.
Where Hope Grows (2014)
Touching movie!
This is a VERY good movie worth watching regularly, not just once. It's a charming, good-feeling movie with excellent acting all around. The ending absolutely captured my heart!!!
Margin Call (2011)
Excellent office thriller
I watched this movie about three months after getting let go from my job. The movie Margin Call is a glimpse into the disaster of what became the 2008 financial crisis. It's about an investment firm who catches a glimpse of the looming abyss before it stares back at the rest of us. I saw this movie beyond the market crisis. I saw it immediately when the guy who starts it all gets let go. After being at my own job 6 years, you get a false sense of importance. Then one day, you are let go. You leave with your box of stuff and never go back to that job that seemed to define you so much for so long. Except for the people at this firm, they are left with pieces of a crisis. Then they realize they are at risk too. Their lives and security. Sure, everyone else in the country is at risk of losing too, but really, it's about the individual. The people left behind. This movie was a fantastic representation of the market crisis the eve before it hits while also representing the life of a cubical worker the eve before things fall apart in their own lives. You won't be disappointed by watching this movie.
The Back Pages (2017)
Worth watching
I'd say this is probably the first review I have put up on IMDB! So, Backpages is an anthology series where each episode is a standalone show and it has a sci-fi. I am a huge fan of the classics like Twilight Zone and Outer Limits (the 90s version), so these kinds of shows always appeal to me. The first episode in this didn't make sense, although I desperately wanted it to (I re-watched the ending several times). And the second episode had a creepy mysterious feel of a young woman in a coma and parents tormented with the idea of pulling the plug. I enjoy the creepy atmosphere of the two episodes I've seen so far, even it takes me a bit to piece together what's going on. It's really well produced I thought, and I love the music too. I think it's a series with a lot of potential.
