Goodnight, Mister Tom (1998)
Awful Adaption.
I have been familiar with the fantastic book of 'Goodnight Mister Tom' for absolutely ages and it was only recently when I got the chance to watch this adaption of it. I have heard lots of positive remarks about this, so I had high hopes. Once this film had finished, I was horrified.
This film is not a good film at all. 'Goodnight Mister Tom' was an extremely poor adaption and practically 4.5/10 of the book was missed out. Particularly, I found that a lot of the characters and some great scenes in the book were not in this. There was not much dialogue, It was rushed and far too fast-moving, but I was mostly upset by the fact that you never got to see the bonding and love between William Beech and Tom in this film which was a true let down. The casting was not all that good, either. I thought this could have been really good, but it was so different to the book! Anextremely poor adaption, one of the worst I've seen. This deserves a decent remake that'd better be 1000 times better than this pile of garbage.
Premonition (2007)
Pointless rubbish.
The storyline to this film is actually quite clever - if you read what the plot is written down on paper. It sounded similar to 'The Sixth Sense', which is very good. So, I decided to watch 'Premonition' after watching the trailer on YouTube. This film definitely looked promising by all this feedback I'd had from it. So I went to the cinema with high hopes. When I came out of the cinema I was thinking very differently.
'Premonition' was a very cheap, boring psychological thriller which had no real flow to the story. The acting was awful, and whoever directed this rubbish must have been on cannabis. Sandra Bullock is in every scene, which is really annoying. The film was also much too fast-moving and had too much suspense. The story had a twist, but it was a twist too far. Too dramatic, the characters didn't even have any character in them, the plot was just messed up and there was SO many other things wrong with it. The ending was the worst part, though. Linda's husband died, but wasn't he already dead in the first place??? Seriously, this movie could have been really good, but it was so messed up it really sucked.
This movie should not be a PG-13 either. It is a scary film. If 10 year old or 13 year old saw this, they could easilly get frightened as it is extremely creepy and quite gory too. This should be rated R.
So, don't see 'Premonition.' What a waste of money!
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)
Simply a brilliant, action-packed, swashbuckling masterpiece!
I have become a massive fan of 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' lately. I was only about 9 or 10 when the 'Curse Of The Black Pearl' was released,so that is why it is my least favourite, which is strange because everyone thinks the first one is the best. I saw 'Dead Mans Chest' in the cinema 3 times because I thought it was totally awesome. Then, just 1 year later, the 3rd Pirates movie is made, and this is what I thought of that; I was HUGELY excited about seeing this film. I saw it on May 25th 2007. But I have to admit, when I first saw 'At Worlds End', I didn't exactly like it that much. It was only when I re-watched it on DVD today when I realised how amazing it really is. Captain Jack Sparrow is back and it seems he is here to stay, as this movie contains a HUGE battle at the end. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are back, which it a great exception. It was great to see Barbossa is no longer evil but is now on the good side. I am loving Davey Jones, just like I did in the previous movie. Bill Nighy is perfect for the role!!! The evil Lord Cutler Beckett had a much bigger role in this, which was great, as he is plays SOOOOO well. The new characters, like Captain Sao Feng were well done, too.
This movie really sucks you into it. The action is completely awesome and the humour, the fighting and everything else makes this movie a definete must-see!!!!
