The 1975: I'm in Love with You (2022)
fantastic music video
A fabulous continuation of their video 'a change of heart', a song off of their second album 'I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet so Unaware of it'. The video has two main leads, two clowns, the male (Matty Healy) is in love with the female, but she doesn't entirely reciprocate those feelings.
The video also features the other band members, Ross MacDonald, George Daniel and Adam Hann, and their touring member John Waugh and Jamie Squire AND also features the fantastic Phoebe Bridgers.
The song I'm in Love With you is a phenomenal track off their 5th consecutive number one album that also won a Brit award at the 2023 Brits.
Great video, even better song, well worth a watch!
The Book of Life (2014)
The only word for this film is MAGNIFICENT!!
This story tells the tale of Maria, a girl, who has two men competing for her love. Joaquin and Manolo are the two men. The trio have been friends for their entire lives and two dead entities have betting on who will be the one to marry Maria. This film has one of the best (or maybe the best) soundtrack of the 21st century with bangers such as 'I love you too much', 'I will wait', 'No matter where you are' and many many more.
I watch this film with my sister and we both know so many lines from this film purely from watching it repeatedly, I love this film so so much and I really think it is one of the most underrated films of the decade. The film really gives off coco (the Disney film) vibes, but it was released prior to coco. Therefore it is the original and it is such a good film for children to watch.
The Book of Life has many famous voice actors including Zoe Saldana, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube. It is one of the best animated films I have ever seen and it is hard to believe how underrated this film actually is.
Definitely would recommend watching it!!
The Lorax (2012)
A highlight of the century
The Lorax is a comedy that helps us realise how important trees are to the environment and the world around us. It doesn't discuss this topic directly, but it helps hint to younger children that we need trees to keep a safe and healthy lifestyle. With the lorax himself being a small, vibrant, orange and fluffy creature, this helps attract the younger generations' attention, which is very useful in this act towards climate change. As in one scene, it's shown that without trees, one kid starts glowing just because he went for a swim. With a star studded cast it is easily one of the best films of the century and with it becoming a tiktok sensation, this film could be around for generations to come.
My younger sister loves this film, and we've watched this film together at least fifty times and yet we can't find ourselves getting bored at it. The music is catchy, and the songs are so good (especially how bad can I be and let it grow). The song 'How Bad Can I Be' helps tell kids that they shouldn't do wrong in life as it will come back and could destroy them in their future, just like it did for the Onceler. He lives alone, outside the city, an outcast just because he wanted fame, which he did get but not for long. This film really shows the brilliance of trees and how we should protect them through good and bad and we need them to keep breathing. Fantastic film, fantastic cast, fantastic songs. 10 stars.
Good Omens (2019)
A masterpiece
This review is being written just before season twos release. I love the casting of this show, David Tennant and Michael Sheen were the perfect choice for the two main characters and Jon Hamm is fantastic as Archangel Gabriel too. This show is funny, dramatic, slightly suspenseful and extremely entertaining. I love Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimans work and I have read the book multiple times already, its a fantastic read too. It's nice to see how many lines are in the book and the series, as some adaptions use hardly any of the lines from the original book. I cannot wait for Good Omens Season two and I can't wait to sit in my house and binge watch the series for the rest of the summer. Good show, definitely worth a watch. 10 stars.
Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir (2015)
Weirdly Entertaining
This show is quite repetitive with a lot of the storyline being very similar every episode, but yet I still find myself watching it and enjoying every second. The relationships of the characters on screen - and how much you ship them, is so brilliantly written for the younger side of viewers and teens will love this show too. I know many people who have watched this show, and I have not heard a bad word about Miraculous. Now when I watch this show its weirdly nostalgic and it brings back many happy memories of simply waiting for Adrien and marinette to finally get together, or chat noir and ladybug. Fantastic series, fantastic voice actors, fantastic script and fantastic theme tune. My only criticism would be that they changed the theme tune, to a slightly worse but slightly more dramatic new one, but it is still A brilliant 10 stars.
