The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018)
One of the weirdest movies that i've seen... (in a good way)
Positives:
- The characters have very good acting, clearly seen when they are expressing they're personalities on the screen.
- Jonathan (played by Jack Black) is GREAT for being the lead protagonist in THIS type of movie!
- The dialogue in the movie is good.
- The movie is QUITE good at mixing horror, family and fantasy all into one!
- The movie has a good length.
- The pace of the movie is good.
- The movie makes you root for the characters.
- The movie has some good CGI (from what I remembered).
- The movie is creative, has a unique story to it with some unique and creative parts in the movie.
Negatives:
- This movie doesn't really know it's target audience so well.
- The story of the movie falls a bit flat.
- If this was a kids movie, I would recommend it for at least 9+ audiences. The villains/monsters in this movie have actually quite a disturbing appearance, still 3 years later, i rewatch this movie and the villain's appearances still look a bit disturbing.
- The characters in the movie make pretty bad decisions that work to stop very fast. Especially Lewis.. sorry Lewis...
- I don't know if this movie was supposed to be comedy or not.. but the comedy doesn't really work for me.. like I said.. what is this movie's target audience?
- I appreciate the creativity, but this movie just didn't really know that much what it wanted to be. Still a story that fits quite good in the movie though! I'll give you that.
Overall a fun watch. If you want to see some originality in a movie then i'll recommend this one.
Curse of Chucky (2013)
Wasted potential and some more... (KIND OF spoilers)
I was very excited to jump into this movie after watching the 5th Chucky movie. Because the 5th one in my opinion was quite bad i had A BIT higher expectations for this movie. And that's what I got! But not REALLY much higher...
Now honestly i don't really have that much to say about this movie.
The acting is good, the kills are good, the dialogue is good (i guess, for being a chucky movie), shortly said, this movie has a lot of basic stuff that a ordinary movie or horror movie should have.
Now obviously this isn't the BEST chucky movie and not even CLOSE to being the BEST horror movie of all time!
This movie just has a few negatives from me that for others might just feel like tiny details, but for me they are important:
Negatives:
- The movie takes like FOREVER to start. Even though this movie was just 1 hour and 37 minutes long which is basically only 7 minutes longer than a 90 minute movie, the movie still felt like it took FOREVER to finish. We don't get our first kill until like 30 or 40 minutes into the movie!
It was some time ago that I watched this movie, but what I DO remember is that there were maybe 8 or 9 characters that got at least more than 5 minutes on the screen.
- The movie had a lot of missed opportunities with characters with very dumb choices, Chucky has every chance to k!ll "that" person but just keeps wasting time for the movie to be feature length and it's just SOO annoying to watch!
When he has a PERFECT chance to k*ll someone it takes him like 10 or 20 minutes for him to ACTUALLY k*ll someone!
He also gives some characters like MULTIPLE chances to escape!
Overall this movie is fine, it's a little bit over ok.
I had SOME fun with this movie. This movie had some good gore, good chucky look, Nina Pierce as a good new introduction for a new lead character in the Chucky movies. The movie has some good average horror movie acting, good dialogue and stuff like that.
I also thought that the movie was a bit too long while the movie also had quite a lot of wasted potential.
It's a GOOD movie though. Not great, not VERY good, but GOOD. Solid movie, sadly not re-watchable for me though.
Overall, if you are a Chucky fan then I think that this movie is worth checking out. In my opinion i sadly don't think that it's better than the first four. But it is DEFINITELY better than Seed of Chucky!
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
Probably a very VERY controversial opinion but.. oh well, whatever...
This movie has some of the most GORGEOUS animation and style that i've seen in a LONG time!
The fact that someone DREW this is just INSANE?!!
This movie is great and so. Has great characters, great story, FANTASTIC animations, and very good for being a super hero movie i guess.
The ONLY negatives with this movie that i have is...
1. I think that the ending of the movie (the cliffhanger) was one of the most DISAPPOINTING things that i've EVER seen in a movie in a cinema. There was about to be an INSANE action scene! But of course.. there was a cliffhanger...
2. This movie DEFINITELY, in fact the 2 movies that we've got so far in the Miles Morales Spider-Man universe are CLEARLY aimed for a MUCH younger audience.
Now this is ok. But the Tobey Maguire Era of Spider-Man was still VERY family friendly. Had maybe a few mild sad scenes and A BIT of blood, but otherwise the Tobey Maguire movies were GREAT, addicting and fun enough for the whole family.
The Andrew Garfield Spider-Man Era, The (two, so far) Amazing Spider-Man movies aimed for a more OLDER audience. Maybe 11 and up with A LOT more blood and intense action scenes (thankfully not EVEN CLOSE to horror movie violence level), but still these movies had A LOT more violence and blood than the Tobey Maguire movies.
The Tom Holland Era was also great. Probably one of my favourites with the most likeable characters and best storytelling (in my opinion).
Spider-Man: No Way Home was one of the BEST cinema experiences that i've HAD!
The Miles Morales Era is still GREAT, but I wish that they just aimed the movies on at least A LITTLE more to the older audience side, about to the Andrew Garfield era OR in the middle of the Tobey Maguire era and the Andrew Garfield Era.
Otherwise this movie is GREAT!
High hopes for the next movie!
Family Guy (1999)
GREAT series until...
Family Guy for me has always been one of the FUNNIEST adult animation dark humour comedy series out there (in my opinion), but sometimes it just loses the positivity in my opinion.
The series is damn funny and stuff but can sometimes take the jokes a bit too far and sometimes just feel like they are not putting any effort into the jokes. Well yeah, sometimes the jokes are creative but not ALL the time. Many jokes in this series are very offensive and many jokes in this series are also just random lazy cut away gags. For example (i don't think this is a joke in this series, it's just an example).
Stewie can be like sitting on a table and s33ually assaulting Brian or some s**t like that.
Then Stewie can say like:
"This is like that one time where I had s*x with John Lennon".
It's like the WEIRDEST and sometimes LAZIEST jokes that i've seen!
The series has still some very funny moments in it with some creative and fun episodes, but another problem that i have with this series is that i don't think that it introduces new characters into the series that much at all. I mean, it feels like you have to wait like 3 seasons for a new character that ACTUALLY IS IN a decent amount of episodes and actually has a PURPOSE of being a good well made character in Family Guy.
Overall this series is sometimes funny as h!ll, has some good character development in it, creative episodes, some funny and well made cutaway gags and.. well... that's about it...
Overall this is a GREAT dark humour adult animation series that I DEFINITELY recommend to someone who has watched maybe like Rick & Morty, American Dad, Bob's Burgers, South Park or anything like that but not watched Family Guy.
Rosemary's Baby (1968)
VERY good! (SOMEWHAT spoilers..?)
Positives:
- The movie is creepy and good for what it wants to be.
- The story of the movie is good and interesting.
- The characters in the movie are good for being villains and heroes or the offer, when I say that they are likeable i mostly mean that i don't think that they are annoying characters. I think that the villains are good for being villains and Rosemary is good for being the lead protagonist.
- The acting in the movie is good.
- The dialogue in the movie is good.
- The movie is good for being psychological horror.
- The movie is creative and unique.
- The movie has a GOOD runtime. But not a PERFECT one.
- The movie has a SOMEWHAT good pace.
Negatives:
- The movie can get a bit confusing sometimes and quite rushed by especially the end of the movie (in my opinion).
- The movie has a bit too long of a runtime.
- I don't know if it's just like quite old movies up to the 60's or 70's, but the soundtrack in (i'm going to call this movie very old) very old horror movies is the most goofiest thing that i've seen lol.
- Sometimes the movie doesn't really feel like what TYPE of psychological horror it wants to be. Am I just dumb, but that part when Rosemary is having that disturbing dream (if you know you know), then what's the point of that dream if it doesn't really have to do with the rest of the movie.
- The lead protagonist is GOOD, but can sometimes be a bit annoying.
Final Destination (2000)
Actually pretty good!
Positives:
- The movie is GREAT for being teen horror.
- The movie is quite creative.
- The kills in the movie are good.
- The (I will say 2) main characters are great. Alex is great and Clear is great.
- The movie has a good runtime.
- The acting in the movie is good.
- The dialogue in the movie is good.
- The movie is fun to watch and has a lot of scenes that make you root for characters that you don't even know much about.
- The movie has an interesting premise and story.
- The movie has a few creative kills.
- The characters in the movie are good and likeable.
- The movie is somewhat rewatch able.
- The movie isn't over the top with the gore and even though a lot of scenes have quite a lot of blood. Scream amount of blood in a few scenes, the movie is still not over the top with the gore and they do it in a very well way.
Negatives:
- The movie has a lot of overwhelming moments where you think like you've seen "this" in a lot of other movies. Especially Hollywood action movies. This feels like more like an action movie than horror, it still has it's gross horror bits in though.
- They take the movie very serious with the dialogue in a few scenes not being great.
- The movie felt a bit rushed between Alex and Clear. Like.. if this movie was somewhat supposed to have at least A BIT of romance parts in, we didn't really see any of that. It was like when Clear called Alex "babe" out of nowhere.
- The movie had a few creative scenes like the first kill in the beginning of the movie where Tod/Todd got killed, but otherwise this movie just has more like action parts than horror. The movie doesn't really have a lot of horror in it, except that there is a lot of blood and sad moments like the vision of the plane crash and that decapitation after the train scene.
- The movie didn't really focus that much on the name of the characters. The beginning of the movie felt like it just was "Hello friend!", "Oh, hello!".
- Wish we could see more of William Bludworth in this movie, but I think we'll know more about him in the other movies.
Otherwise this movie is a fun watch and has some creative moments to it, as well as a good runtime, good characters, good pace and more.
I very much recommend this movie!
Ghostbusters (2016)
BIG DISAPPOINTMENT for Ghostbusters fans!
Positives:
- The ghosts in the movie look pretty good.
- The movie has some creative and unique parts.
- The acting in the movie is good (I guess?).
- The movie has some good cinematography (I guess).
- The movie's opening scene is actually quite scary and thrilling for being a ghostbusters movie. I don't know, maybe they focused this movie on older audiences than the other movies?
Negatives:
- The movies comedy doesn't AT ALL work and is only funny like 1 time in the whole movie.
- I don't know, I think the movie was maybe just A BIT too long.
- Chris Hemsworth DEFINITELY DOESN'T work as a comedian in this movie! In fact (in my opinion), NONE of this movie's comedy works!
- The dialogue in the movie is pretty bad.
- Why have Bill Murray in just ONE SCENE of the movie and then "kill him off?" With that flying dragon thingy?! He's literally like the star of the ghostbusters movies! And no. I'm not saying that I don't think this movie is good just because the main characters are females. Females or not, doesn't matter for me, for ghostbusters movies being COMEDY, this movie just didn't know one bit how to handle that in my opinion.
Kalle Anka och hans vänner önskar God Jul (1958)
Christmas in Sweden!
If you didn't know, this is a MASSIVE transition when it comes to christmas in Sweden! We call it "Kalle Anka". This is a heartwarming series of small little stories made by Walt Disney with each story featuring different popular characters from different stories, series, fairy tales and more.
Kalle Anka is something that is very fun to watch. Even though you know what each story will be because of the Swedes that see these collections of small short story's every year it's still something fun to watch with you're family and is a clear and straight to the point way of knowing all the characters by Walt Disney's names. Even though watching this each year might not be everyone's favourite thing it still has some iconic, old and classic lines that you can remember from all of these tales, also in which order the lines are from in all of the tales.
The only negative that I have with this (movie, short movie, episode?, I don't really know what it's called) is that sometimes in the story's, listen. I know that this is for kids, but still. Sometimes these stories have some unrealistic moments which would just make them more funnier if you could actually relate to them a bit more and if they were a bit more realistic. Otherwise an INSTANT CLASSIC!
Alien (1979)
SCI-FI horror at it's NEAR BEST!
Positives:
- The movie is very good for being a sci-fi horror.
- The acting is good.
- The dialogue is good.
- The characters are likeable.
- The movie definitely manages to capture that unnerving body horror coming from a sci-fi horror movie.
- The monster/xenomorph looks great, the design is great.
- The movie is creative and unique.
- The movie has a creative premise.
- The movie is A BIT slow, but otherwise it's a movie that is running on a very good pace with an ALMOST perfect runtime.
- The movie makes you root for the characters.
- The cinematography/atmosphere of the movie is great.
- The movie is quite fun and enjoyable.
- The movie is creepy and gross which makes the movie good because it knows how to deal with sci-fi horror and sci-fi body horror (or just body horror).
- Sigourney Weaver is a GREAT actress that DEFINITELY fits into this movie!
- The movie has a SOMEWHAT good runtime.
- The movie has a good pace.
Negatives:
- The movie has A BIT of a too long ending and runtime of the movie.
- The movie doesn't really manage to be that "scary" and has pretty weak kills. The movie is more unnerving and gross than scary.
- The movie has a bit of a slow pace.
- The xenomorph in the movie (the main villain in the movie, the monster) is quite weak and a pretty weak villain, especially since the monsters bigger and even the Gremlins from the Gremlins movies are ten times as small but also much stronger.
Overall a ALMOST PERFECT sci-fi horror movie with some VERY creative and unique ideas and a movie that manages to know what sci-fi horror/body horror ACTUALLY is!
The Walking Dead: The Game - Season 1 (2012)
FANTASTIC!
GREAT horror game for a GREAT price with GREAT sales, GREAT story, GREAT characters, GREAT dialogue, GREAT acting, GREAT art style, yeah.. you get it.. i think that this game is good lol.
No but seriously. This is a MAGNIFICENT horror game which has (like I said before, MANY great things). The most important thing is that this game is for a good price, GREAT price when the game is on sale and the game also has a very reasonable playtime of about 8 hours.
This is a BIG recommendation coming from me, and if you like zombie games or just want a MILD horror, adventure and story (or story-rich game) which is obviously a story game where there is a question and you can answer the question with picking multiple answers that you want to say.
The game is also REALLY simple and also REALLY easy to understand for being a story game! The controls in the game are also great too! This game has very VERY many GOOD stuff for being a video game (in my opinion). Now-a days (2023, when I am writing this review) I think that games overcomplicate such simple ideas and such a simple story for a game. But this game manages to be FUN, SIMPLE, CHEAP (for a story game) and just MUCH MUCH more!
GREAT video game! ESPECIALLY for what it wants to be!
Oh.. and did I forget to say.. the game also has some great plot twists with also great characters which you can nearly all root for.
Wonka (2023)
MUCH better than I expected!
When I heard that there was going to be a prequel to the first two Willy Wonka movies I got very excited! It was also quite exciting to see a new actor that i've heard a lot about that plays Wonka in this movie. Timothée Chalamet.
I didn't know a lot about this actor except that he was quite famous and had been in a lot of famous movies like Dune, Little Women, Bones and All, Don't Look Up and more popular movies. Matter of fact, this was my first movie that I saw with Timothée Chalamet being a big actor in it, also the first movie I saw that had him in it. No offence, but i didn't think that he would have the right personality to success like for example the Johnny Depp Wonka. But oh boy. This movie was actually REALLY good!
Positives:
- The acting is good.
- The dialogue is good.
- The musical is good.
- The cinematography is good.
- The CGI is quite good.
- The characters are likeable.
- The villains are actually VERY good, same with the heroes.
- The movie has some cool scenes and themes.
- The jokes/comedy in the movie is MOST of the time a bit funny even for an older audience, and DEFINITELY very good for a younger audience!
- Timothée Chalamet as Wonka is actually a pretty good choice, he also has some nice musical skills. It would be nice to see a sequel of this movie with Timothée playing Wonka once again and Noodle being in the story of the movie too, once again, they are a good team for the movie and are pretty likeable characters that make you root for them.
- The movie has a good runtime.
- The movie has a good pace.
- The movie has some good and SURPRISING actors in the movie like Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Hugh Grant, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Tom Davis, Simon Farnaby and more!
If you pay a lot of attention in the movie, and if you've seen both Paddington movies, then theres a high chance that you'll recognise 4 actors, more or less, that different actors have been in one Paddington movie, or both!
- The fantasy in the movie is very good.
- The movie is very wholesome and definitely keeps you focused with the charming tone and theme to the movie that matches with the movie being a musical.
- Most of the movies surprising actors are actually VERY good for not only being in Mr. Bean or the Johnny English movies (like Rowan Atkinson), but also for the Paddington actors that surprisingly ALSO fit good into this movie!
- The movie still manages to keep that Willy Wonka style to it and doesn't only do it in a, "Welcome to my chocolate factory!" Way and then some troubling moments happen to some people in the movie.
However, THIS movie manages to keep a creative and DIFFERENT idea to it as well as a much more different plot compared to the other Willy Wonka movies. And it works VERY well!
- The movie is creative and unique.
Negatives:
- The comedy in this movie sometimes isn't that funny and falls flat if you're watching this as an older audience.
- It feels like some of the actors in the movie don't try to have their absolute BEST charm to them.
- Timothée Chalamet sometimes in this movie doesn't really have that "I am Willy Wonka!" Feeling to him and more has that "I am a person who can make magical chocolate!". I mean. It's creative and all, but he doesn't really match that well for especially that Johnny Depp Willy Wonka style. That weird, funny and confused person which is the personality that Johnny Depp's try in being Willy Wonka had.
- The movie sometimes doesn't have singing in like very PERFECT opportunities which is quite sad and ruins a bit of the moment.
- Sometimes the CGI in the movie is quite obvious, but otherwise it's very good.
Overall this movie is VERY good and MUCH better than I expected! Even if you aren't that big of a fan when it comes to Musicals you'll still have a big chance to like this movie, especially if you like Willy Wonka and want to have some originality which is a quite different story to the other Willy Wonka movies. I DEFINITELY recommend this movie!
A Quiet Place (2018)
SOO well made!
Positives:
- The acting is great.
- The story is great.
- The characters in the movie are likeable.
- The characters in the movie are ACTUALLY smart.
- A few death scenes in the movie definitely caught me by surprise.
- The dialogue is great.
- The movie is smart.
- The movie has some cool and unique scenes.
- The movie is creative and unique.
- The movie has a great cast that really fit into this movie.
- The movie's runtime is great.
- The movie makes you root for the characters.
- This movie knows what it wants to be.
- The movie definitely has that thriller/horror experience, which once again, more focuses on suspense or build up's more than jumpscares cause you actually know when the jumpscare is coming.
- The movie's creature/monster designs look great.
- The movie is fun to watch.
- For a movie having a bit of talking, but still not THAT much, it definitely manages to still make the movie entertaining and fun in every way.
- The camera work is good.
- The atmosphere and cinematography in the movie is AMAZING.
- The movie's pace is good.
- The movie DEFINITELY has a GREAT main lead character (Lee Abbott).
- The movie will probably work as a sequel because the movie has a good ending. I haven't seen the second movie though.
Too be honest, I don't think I actually have any negatives in this movie. And even if I do have just tiny details this movie will still be a 10/10 for me. It's one of the best horror movies that i've seen, and also just one of the best movies that i've seen. I DEFINITELY 100% RECOMMEND this movie! It's AMAZING!!!
The Conjuring (2013)
GREAT horror movie!
Positives:
- Ed and Lorraine Warren are REALLY good characters and actors for also having the lead role in The Conjuring movies with both of them being demonologists trying to solve the dangerous paranormal in mostly family's homes.
- The acting in this movie is very good.
- The characters in the movie are very likeable.
- The movie manages to have some good scares and good creature/monster designs.
- The movie has some unique and creative scenes. For example that one scene where the mother of the family is by the basement and then the hands come from behind her and clap as a little detail from when April was playing that weird version of hide and seek where you basically have to clap to give people hints and progressively making it easier for the seeker to get hints to where you are.
- The movie has a good story.
- The dialogue in the movie is very good.
- The movie has some scary scenes done well, same with the movie having some creative scenes which are also done very well.
- The movie has a good runtime.
- The movie is very good for basically being Phasmophobia in real life lol (if Phasmophobia was a movie), because Ed and Lorraine Warren are obviously ghost hunters, a bit like the ghostbusters but more serious.
- The movie is fun and enjoyable.
- The movie knows how to build up tension in a good way.
- The movie isn't rushed and takes itself and the story of the movie very serious.
- The movie makes you root for the characters.
- The movie focuses quite a lot on jumpscares but not very much on gore and deaths.
Negatives:
- Even though most of the jumpscares are very well done, the movie still has some very obvious jumpscare scenes. All of the jumpscares in the movie aren't very obvious where some of them are quite sudden, but it's still a little detail that is overused in a lot of horror movies.
- The movie is a bit slow and has a bit of a slow start, but otherwise the rest of the movie is very good.
- The movie does get quite tiring on the quite constant use of jumpscares, but otherwise it's just a tiny detail that doesn't matter really much, for me at least.
Otherwise this is a GREAT and pretty scary horror movie to watch if you are looking for something to ACTUALLY FRIGHTEN you. In my opinion this is a VERY good horror movie and I DEFINITELY recommend it!
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (2012)
Simple, family friendly, easy to understand and HILARIOUS comedy!
This might be controversial, but I honestly think that this movie is BETTER than Rodrick Rules.
ALL of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies with Zachary Gordon are ALL GREAT, but this one was for me just the best one. Yes, Rodrick Rules was also really great, but I think that this one is just a LITTLE bit BETTER. Let me tell you why.
First of all, the comedy in this movie just like in all the other Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies is great. It's simple, family friendly, easy to understand, VERY funny and creative.
I also really like the summer vibe that this movie manages to catch. I like it that Greg and Holly get to know each other a little bit better and even now have a relationship with each other. I like it that even Rodrick fancy's a girl (Heather) and that we get to see that funny but still awkward moment in the end of the movie where Rodrick plays Justin Bieber's song "Baby" to Heather lol.
I also like Greg and Frank's relationship with each other in this movie (relationship as a family) and that we get to know a lot about what Greg and Frank have in common with each other in this movie.
I liked the scene with the scouts, the scene with Rowley and Greg on the roller coasters, the scene where Greg forgot his pants by the diving/jumping tower.
It was all just REALLY creative and a REALLY fun movie to watch!
The runtime was good, the comedy was good, the characters are good, the acting is good, it's just a great GREAT movie to watch either by yourself, with a friend, with you're family, or WHATEVER or WHOEVER you want to watch this movie with!
I HIGHLY recommend!
Monster (2022)
Evan Peters and his MAGNIFICENT acting in this MAGNIFICENT show!
This was my first Jeffrey Dahmer movie/series that I saw and i have to say. This series definitely feels real.
Evan Peter's EXTRAORDINARY acting skills in this disturbing crime/docudrama series is just done SO WELL!
This series definitely manages to capture the moment of the Jeffrey Dahmer cases and especially what Jeffrey Dahmer used to do.
The acting is great, the story is great, the characters are great, the crime/docudrama/thriller (or whatever you wanna say) is great, the runtime on each episode is great. There's just SO many things in this show that manage to make this feel so real! It's a VERY disturbing which is also VERY well made.
I don't know THAT MUCH about the history of Jeffrey Dahmer but what I DO know is that he is a cannibal, serial killer and s3x offender, and this show managed to recreate the story of Jeffrey Dahmer in a VERY well way. Evan Peters has VERY good acting in this series and this serious WANTS to take itself serious and it DOES. It definitely does.
Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
Never judge a book by it's cover...
Positives:
- The acting is pretty good.
- Not FANTASTIC, but still pretty great for being a teen slasher!
- The movie has some creative scenes.
- The characters in the movie are likeable.
- The movie has a creative concept, basically the mystery between Sam/Samantha and all the killers in this movie is actually done pretty well!
- The dialogue is good. Not GREAT but it's still done in a QUITE good way.
- The movie has some unexpected scenes like when Kate dies out of nowhere and you ACTUALLY think that she'll survive. Same with the last scene in the movie when Samantha is "possessed?" Or something like that. The evil is still inside her and it's very unexpected and quite well done.
- The movie has a slow build up with the romance which is done pretty well.
- In this movie we ACTUALLY get to know some information about the main character Diana and Sam/Samantha and their connection with each other.
- The movie has a QUITE slow build up the first like 1 hour or 40 minutes BUT after that we get some creative and tense action scenes which are very well done.
- The movie has some good gore. NOT OVER THE TOP like Terrifier 2 has lol.
- The romance in the movie is done pretty well.
- The movie has a good runtime.
- The dialogue in the movie is good. It's not GREAT, but it's still GOOD.
- The movie is very good for being a slasher.
- The movie is very good for being a teen horror movie/teen slasher movie.
- They manage to make this movie like Scream except BETTER, more creative and more story to tell which they surprisingly do in a VERY good way. This movie proves that not all slasher movies are bad (and no, i'm not saying that Scream is bad).
- The movie has some good camera work.
- The movie manages to go in a slow but well done pace which makes the movie more interesting.
- The actors that are acting in the movie have good acting.
- The movie makes you root quite a lot for the characters once you progress through the movie.
- The movie has some well designed killers for the movie (I THINK!) for not having that high of a budget.
- The movie doesn't have that many jumpscares but more focuses on suspense and moments that keep you on the edge of your seat which are done pretty well.
Negatives:
- Some, just SOME actors in the movie don't have the best acting.
- The movie doesn't have the best dialogue. It's still well done, but it's not GREAT, same with some of the lines that the characters have in the movie.
- The movie has a SOMEWHAT slow beginning.
- Some killers in the movie don't have the best design and clearly look like a halloween costume. For example the skull mask killer.
- The movie doesn't really manage to have that 90's feeling except that they just put some 90's songs in the movie, but in reality it doesn't really change anything.
Overall a VERY good slasher/teen slasher movie that i DEFINITELY recommend if you like Scream!
The movie has a little bit of a slow beginning but TRUST ME. The more you progress through the movie, the more you'll enjoy it.
Talk to Me (2022)
VERY Scary and creepy!
I've heard that most YouTuber movies/horror movies (or whatever) AREN'T that good, but this one is actually AMAZING! (For a horror movie, AND a YouTuber horror movie).
Positives:
- The movie is VERY creepy and VERY scary which obviously horror movies are SUPPOSED to be, sadly not all horror movies success by doing that.
- The movie doesn't focus that much on jumpscares but more fear and suspense, which i like A LOT.
- The acting in the movie is very good. Especially for teen horror acting/acting for a teen horror movie, and just acting in general.
- The movie is creative and the story is good.
- The movie has a good and unexpected ending.
- The movie has a good length. Not too long of a movie, not too short of a movie.
- The movie has a good main character who you can root for.
- The movie has good characters.
- The movie has a very simple concept.
- The movie is VERY good for being a horror movie.
- The dialogue in the movie is good.
- The movie is fun and enjoyable to watch.
Negatives:
- This movie MIGHT work out as a sequel (yes, they are planning to do one) but a sequel might also NOT work out. I hope that you can understand why after you've watched this movie.
- The movie can be a bit slow sometimes but still good and enjoyable.
- Sometimes, but just SOMETIMES the acting can fall a bit flat.
Creep (2014)
Creepy, disturbing, unsettling, fun, weird and creative.
Positives:
- Josef (played by Mark Duplass) has a VERY good and creepy performance for this movies premise and being the head character of the movie.
- The movie definitely manages to be creepy, unsettling and disturbing.
- The movie is creative.
- The movie has A FEW good jumpscares.
- The dialogue is very good for what the movie wants to be.
- The acting is good.
- The movie has a ALMOST perfect runtime.
- The movie is pretty fun and enjoyable to watch.
Negatives:
- The movie has A LOT of obvious and overused jumpscares.
- The movie had a few good opportunities for the killer to be EVEN MORE creepy.
- The movie didn't have a PERFECT runtime, but it had an ALMOST perfect runtime.
- Wish that we could know a little bit more about Josef. What he has, etc...
- At the VERY END of the movie, the movie has a pointless and unfunny jumpscare for no reason.
- Aaron is a pretty dumb person who makes dumb and stupid choices to be the character to experience Josef's behaviour.
Overall I thought that this movie was VERY fun and good for being a found footage movie. It had only SOME little details to make the movie better, but if you want to see a creative, good, psychological horror (or maybe it's a thriller movie), then DEFINITELY check this movie out, ESPECIALLY with a very good lead actor for the premise of the movie!
Sune i fjällen (2014)
I now understand the bad reviews...
I used to LOVE this movie as a kid. In fact i used to love nearly ALL the Sune movies. But that was when i was a KID. Now these movies kind of suck when i go back to them.
If you are 6-11 years old or something you'll find this movie quite funny. It's an OK movie when it comes to comedy, but when you get older and want to re-watch this movie when you are about 12+ years old it's just REALLY boring.
Positives:
- The movie is good for younger kids.
- The movie has SOME unique and creative comedy scenes, but mostly only ones that a quite young audience will think are funny.
- The acting is OK and Rudolf (the dad) is quite funny sometimes when he is trying to not get annoyed over something.
Negatives:
- Sune just feels like a PERFECT example of a narcissistic person who also makes bad choices that could have been done WAY better.
- The movie has some OBVIOUS big lighting to make for example a romance scene look good, but mostly it just looks funny.
- The movie isn't very funny when you watch it when you are older, in fact, barely ANY of the jokes made me laugh except maybe 2 jokes in scenes.
- I think that the ending of the movie was pretty good and unexpected but still quite annoying because Sophie feels like the person to never give Sune chances and when Sune could of done this way better maybe we'll have a better solution to fix they're relationship or at least being "friends".
- The story of the movie gets quite boring quite fast and just feels like a lazy unfunny way to make a good romance/comedy movie.
- The movie has some unfunny scenes, for example that one scene when Sabina and Karin were going like idk "really serious" mode or something like that where they had this overused western whistle or whatever it is.
- The movie has especially MULTIPLE OVERUSED jokes that they THINK get funnier over time but are just SOOO UNFUNNY that just makes you want to skip forward in the movie!
Otherwise this is an OK movie for younger kids to watch, i think they'll like it. But for a movie to watch again when you are older it's just the most unfunny and boring story EVER.
Zhou (2022)
Had a BIT higher expectations but STILL an OK movie.
Positives:
- The movie has a creative and unique story.
- Some of the scares are quite well done.
- Sometimes the movie is quite unsettling and scary. But i only got quite disturbed on maybe 2 parts.
- OK for being a found footage horror movie.
- The movie is good at more disgusting horror than scary.
Negatives:
- The movie is quite slow and doesn't have that much intensity or jumpscares in it and the movie gets quite boring about an hour in.
- The actors are OK but not great.
- The camera work isn't great.
- The movie has some moments where they kept the camera on to film a scene for a bit too long of a time.
- The movie feels like it kind of repeats the same story again and again, that's a little bit the point of this movie but they don't do it in such a great way.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
AMAZING!
When i was about to watch this movie i didn't know so much about it except that it was based on the books scary stories to tell in the dark. I jumped into it blind and OH BOY! This is MAGNIFICENT horror!
Positives:
- The monsters in the movie look REALLY GREAT and REALLY CREEPY!
- The movie is more creepy than scary. The movie feels like it focuses a lot on anxiety and situations that can leave you with anxiety. For me that worked in this movie.
- The movie has pretty good acting for being teenagers/teen horror movie acting.
- The movie is UNIQUE and has a very interesting story to it.
- The movie has a very simple story but they manage to make the story interesting and they manage to keep you invested in the story.
- I ACTUALLY LIKE Stella and Ramón's relationship in this movie!
- The movie isn't TOO scary and doesn't focus that much on jumpscares. What i remember about this movie is that i think it maybe has ONLY about 2 or 3 jumpscares which the movie proves to the audience that a movie just has to have a simple story and make that story connected to the movie in a WELL done way and a movie that focuses more on intensity and keeping you on edge more than just having jumpscares in the movie.
- The movie is VERY CREEPY and manages to make a simple plot on a horror movie into a MASTERPIECE of a horror movie!
Negatives:
- I wish the movie maybe showed a bit more scenes with new monsters. But i can't WAIT for the sequel!
- A LOT of people say that this is a MILD horror movie for people who see they're first horror movie for example. But i don't know if i agree about the "MILD" part. This horror movie has some VERY intense scenes, creepy scenes, EXTREMERLY creepy monsters and some scenes that could cause some people anxiety and fear of for example being alone or something like that. This movie is just a horror movie. I recommend watching it at AT LEAST for 12 year old's. Depends on if you think that suspense and monsters is scary. There is a pretty disturbing scene in the movie where Tommy (the person who bullied the scarecrow) TURNS INTO the scarecrow. This sounds more weird and maybe a bit funny than scary, but it is still quite disturbing to watch, his face gets all like f'd up and he gets tons of hay in his mouth while screaming in pain while being transformed. But overall this scene is REALLY well done, but DEFINITELY not a mild horror movie i'll say!
- Was the "who took my toe?" Scene supposed to be funny, or scary? I don't really know. The scene felt pretty disturbing and scary but still quite un-serious while the other monster scenes in the movie were mostly just very disturbing to watch.
- The ending scene felt a bit disappointing. The scene where Ramón and Stella were getting chased by the Jangly Man felt quite unrealistic when the monster for example chased them on the road. It's still quite scary but also a bit funny.
Overall this movie is a GREAT horror movie with only a few SMALL TINY WEENY ISSUES which you only care A LOT about if you are a harsh critic. Otherwise this movie is amazing! BIG recommendation for horror movie lovers and people who love originality!
Wednesday (2022)
Meh..
When i heard that they were making a "The Addams Family" live action SERIES that mostly focused on Wednesday i was quite excited. Especially when Jenna Ortega was the big star of this show.
I had watched the animated Addams Family movies but that's the only thing that i had watched BEFORE watching this series. And yes.. it led up pretty much to my expectations...
When this series first came out people were REALLY hyped and thought that the series was GREAT! So i watched it for myself.
Positives:
- I like the idea of Wednesday being in a boarding school and that each student have they're own "abilities?" Or that they are different "creatures?".
- Wednesday's (played by Jenna Ortega) acting skills are quite good. She's a pretty good actor at being the serious, unsure, dangerous but calm student.
- The series has a quite interesting and creative plot.
Sadly i don't have a lot to say about more positives in this series, i wish i could add a bit more but this series didn't really work for me. The series wasn't GREAT, it wasn't GOOD, it was just OK. A nice enough try at least.
Negatives:
- The dialogue in the series isn't great.
- Some of the acting in the series isn't great.
- The story/mystery about the school isn't very interesting and doesn't keep you invested in it for a long time.
- Only a few characters in this series are likeable. Even some of the main characters aren't great.
- The series focus on an "older audience" didn't really work so well. The "horror" in this show is more funny than scary.
- Tyler isn't a so great main character but it is still a surprise that HE is The Hyde.
- Even though Rowan was only in a few episodes he just felt like the most boring villain ever.
- The "horror" in the show didn't really work one bit.
- The movie has some very cringe and unfunny lines, for example the one that Enid said about her having like claws as a kitty (or something like that), and when some random person (don't know what the character is called) said "you're like a living instagram filter". It's somewhat funny but still poor and not really well done comedy.
I probably have a few more negatives to say about this series but those right there are probably my BIGGEST problems with this series.
This series isn't AWFUL, but it's not GOOD. It's just mediocre and a completely OK series to watch.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher (2023)
Pretty good! But not GREAT.
I don't know a lot about the Percy Jackson books at least (what this series wants to follow, this series wants to be similar to the books), but i read about 50 pages of the first book. I got into it, but the story just felt quite complex and weird with a lot of words that i haven't heard before so going into this series was like watching a series for the first time blind.
This first episode was pretty good, straight forward and straight to the point which was good! The actors are pretty good and the monsters/creatures (whatever you wanna say) look pretty good but they still have A BIT obvious CGI. Otherwise they made for example the minotaur in this first episode look quite good.
The episode had some good and straight forward but not TOO intense action scenes and they were fun to watch and made you pay attention to what was happening so that you can also know a little bit about the creatures.
I think that the idea of the books and just the whole Percy Jackson STORY is pretty creative and unique! It's well done, but it's not GREAT!
A few negatives i have about this episode is that the dialogue and lines (maybe some comedy too) doesn't fit so well with the story.
I think that the story of Percy seeing these creatures and that he is the chosen one. He is the half-blood is pretty interesting.
This episode felt kind of rushed and felt like it had a little bit of lack of potential but it was still a fun, good and an enjoyable episode for what this series wants to be!
It's a creative and fun series to watch by yourself OR with your family, even though theres just two episodes so far (when i'm writing this review) i still feel like this series (so far) has some good family fun, same with the first episode which was done quite well.
I'm looking forward to this series and it feels like a series that the later seasons will either be a success or a fail. I am quite excited to see what they have to offer with the story of this series!
Overall good episode and good start to a show!
Doki Doki Literature Club! (2017)
Probably the BEST Psychological horror game OUT THERE!
I didn't know a lot about Doki Doki Literature Club except that it was a creepy and bizarre bait and switch game.
I didn't know a lot about this game except that i had heard a lot about it and that it was a free psychological horror game on steam. But WOW.. it's REALLY well made!
You join a literature club with 4 anime girls who all (i think?) have interests in you.
What this game does good is that it gives you a slow but not TOO long build up on the characters so that you get to know them a little bit better and know a little bit of they're backstory.
In the end of the first act of the game you get to choose between two choices:
If you want to say "I love you" to Sayori. Or if you want to say something like "I'll always be you're friend " to Sayori.
This is a very heartwarming moment because the game has told a lot of story about Sayori and that SHE has feelings for you and that she is also shy and has depression.
When you come to this point of the game it really feels like a romance game done REALLY well.
In the end of act 1 Sayori h*ngs herself and takes suicide. This is a very bizarre and sad moment because when you feel like you and Sayori are alike and that you somehow have a connection with each other you can really feel sad when you've planned to help with the "party?" (I think it was?) for the literature club. You open the door and there she is h*nging. This part even made me cry lol.
After Act 1 the game starts to slowly get creepy and unnerving. You come out to the title screen of the game and then you see that everything is glitched out.
When you get back into the game you see that Sayori is gone and only Yuri, Monika and Natsuki is in the room. The characters begin sometime glitching and this is when you focus on Monika, Yuri and Natsuki. Each have they're different personal feelings.
I don't remember a lot from the game but what i do remember is that Yuri k!lls herself, Natsuki (i don't really remember) and that Monika is the evil character in this game and that she is the one that reprogram the games source code. This is a very creative and cool moment that you can do. You can delete Monika by taking her away from the games source code.
In the end of the game she traps you in a room and tells you why she did this. She sits there like forever and can ask you really weird questions. She even says you're real life name which is REALLY creepy.
If you exit out of the game and go back in again Monika is still there. This is a very creepy, un-expected and unnerving moment to end a psychological horror game.
But if you want a creative, FREE and unnerving horror game i DEFINITELY recommend it! This game makes you feel on edge, it makes you feel emotion and more. The game is just TOO well done to be true!
The only negative that i have about the game is maybe that the creepiness doesn't start until 1 hour or more in the game. Of course they have to introduce the characters and make you know them better. But i think they do that just a little too long. Otherwise this game is AMAZING! 10/10!
Thanksgiving (2023)
One of the BEST slashers that i've seen!
I had heard quite a lot about this movie. A lot of people said that it was really good so jumping into this movie i was very excited to see what it had to offer. And it's good that i watched this movie. Because i LOVED it!
Positives:
- The movie has PERFECT gore! Not TOO over the top but still VERY graphic!
- The kills in the movie are creative and great.
- The movie is very good for being a slasher.
- The actors in the movie are pretty good at acting for being average teenagers.
- The ending of the movie was pretty un-expected. It wasn't Bobby, it was the sheriff!
- Good and fun main character that you can root for! I think Jessica has the best performance in the movie.
- Pretty cool and creative ending on the final scene of the movie before the credits roll.
- The movie is creative.
- The killers style/costume is very simple but still pretty well done and it looks good!
- The movie has a PERFECT runtime!
- The black friday scene was VERY BIZARRE but they still did it in a good way to make you feel disturbed and sorry for the main characters.
- The movie is fun and re-watchable!
- Probably Eli Roth's BEST movie!
Negatives:
- Theres an OVERUSED amount of swearwords. This shouldn't really annoy me, but the characters say about 100 swearwords in like the first ten minutes of the movie. Like.. WE GET IT! You're annoyed! You're a teenager!
- The killers speech for why he was killing these people is quite stupid because it wasn't the teenagers fault.
- The dialogue in the movie isn't great but it's still OK.
- The transition in the final clip of the movie when they "zoom?" Into the credits is a quite bad and funny transition.
- The movie doesn't give a lot of information about the lead character Jessica. She's just one of the people who survived the killer.
Overall i think that the negatives that i've put in this movie are just REALLY TINY DETAILS so i don't care about them that much really. This movie was REALLY fun, and if you're a slasher fan i'll DEFINITELY recommend it!
