Anomalisa (2015)
Predator Vs Prey
The fact that the Academy got behind this film only further drives home the point that Hollywood has no idea the power of their storytelling on young lives and that makes me sad for those young folks who will see this film because of the praise it is receiving.
When you put behind all the oooohhh's and ahhhh's about how dark this film is I want you to see that at the end of the day you have a man named Michael who is a predator preying upon an insecure much younger girl named Lisa. There are multiple victims of his in this film. Just watch and you will see. Then ask yourself if you can support such storytelling upon our world.

Solid Movie With Just a Few Flaws
I enjoyed this movie overall and feel it was well filmed.
Ray McKinnon and Sam Shepard stole the show in terms of acting. Amazing job done by the both of them. I wasn't impressed with Matthew McConaughey's acting. He is a very average actor and I feel the movie could have had a different vibe without him in the role. Both young actors (characters of Ellie and Neckbone) did a great job.
It is interesting how the movie is set in modern times (2011 was seen on a calendar) yet you don't see people using cell phones or computers or the internet. It's almost as if the film could have been done 30 years prior based on how it was filmed and the mood/tone of it.
I didn't fully understand the point of the character Galen and felt he could have been cut from the script and it wouldn't have made a huge difference. He was entertaining but irrelevant to the movie.
In the end (this is the spoiler) we are basically watching two murderers get away with murder. Of course they have our sympathies but...well...you know.
Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)
Lame. Predictable. Not Even Average.
Probably the worst movie script of the past decade. I knew this movie was going to be bad but geez, not this bad! Not sure where the "screenwriters" came from but the local high school in my small town could produce a better script. Every scene is predictable. Every character is predictable. The timeline doesn't work--the main characters are way too young to have been born in the 1970s. There are so many issues with this film I would be here all day listing them. This movie is not scary.
Please don't waste your money on this as it was obviously just made to capitalize on the Texas Chain Saw name.

Great Job!
I saw the initial showing of this doc at SXSW in Austin, TX and am glad that I did. It was a sweet, touching documentary of small town life in Sidney, Ohio. The movie was well shot, well put together and really captured the spirit of the residents in the town. Being the fact that I myself am a small town girl I really enjoyed the essence that this film produced, from a confused man who called out the police because his cable stopped working to the very serious efforts of the high school football team to "go all the way" (spoiler: in the Q&A with the film makers after the showing we learn that alas, the football team didn't make it and the teenager with the jerk boyfriend did indeed break up with him).
This film isn't supposed to produce any sort of judgment. The beauty of the movie is in the sweet, subtle truth of small town life which is a thing to treasure for its own benevolent journeys.
