The Curse: Green Queen (2024)
Great ending that made sense
I still think Asher is a sociopath and a bit sadistic. He gives Whitney a pregnancy/ "push" present of giving their home to the single dad and his daughters. Whitney appears pained by this decision. This is shown in the scene where they are telling the dad, and in a split screen the side with Asher is clear, and the side with Whitney is blurry and scratchy. Whitney has been tortured by Asher all along. I also saw this when he tells Whitney "you have a little part of my inside you". Now that the baby is coming, Whitney is not having it. First Asher is banned from the bed, then essentially from the house, and eventually from the Earth. He is the curse that has been excised.
The Curse: Young Hearts (2024)
I love this cringy show!
Everyone on this show has some type of personality disorder. Spoiler alert! Asher is a complete sociopath. The curse does not come from a little girl. Instead the curse is the pathologies of these characters starting to manifest in full form, probably from doing this "reality" show in first place.
Whitney is a total narcissist who shows no humility whatsoever. Her parents are the same way. Dougie is borderline, manipulative and running hot and cold. These are the exact type of people who would do a reality show like this. They are so phony and insincere. The ancillary characters around them appear to see this clearly. They are just caught up in the ride of being " famous on television". This is why I love this cringy show. It's not supposed to be a laugh-out-loud comedy. It's a slow burn of discomfort and absurdity. I think it's pure genius.
The Internet Remains Undefeated (2024)
Very funny
I watched this film a few months ago at the Portland Horror Film Festival. Great festival by the way. All I can say is it is silly fun and made me laugh. I even watched it twice and want others to see it. It's not scary but laugh out loud funny. Now I'm trying to make this review long enough to post. This is a very short film so not much to say about it except it is a clever independent film. I love independent films because they are usually better than the big Hollywood films. The Portland Horror Film Festival had a lot of good short and long independent films. Some I still think back on and admire them like I did with this film.
Nope (2022)
The haters just don't get it
I loved this film and all the symbolism. The black and white; white horse/black horse; the turning of a wheel to make a motion picture; "Hollywood so white"; a giant camera in the sky. The incident with Gordy and an impressionable "Asian child actor" had everything thing to do with what happened at the ranch. I totally got it and loved it.
Pistol (2022)
I found it to be boring
I'm surprised I was so bored with this series. I found the characters of the band to be quite whiny and annoying. I loved the Sex Pistols when I heard them in the 80s. This portrayal did not seem like them at all. I look forward to reading Jones' book just to get some perspective.
