Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008)
Underrated Gem
Repo! The Genetic Opera is a hard film to define. Not fantastically brillant, but also not that dreadful. There is something almost 'addictive' about this film. I've watched it 3 times in as many days. Anthony Head showed us the power of his voice, the Graverobber/Narrator has an awesome set of pipes, and as for Paul Sorvino, who knew the man had operatic tendancies? Paris Hilton is not that bad as the sugery addicted daughter, and I actually don't know why so many people gave her a bad review. Give it a look, make your own mind up, give it a chance. Personally, I think this is an underrated classic.
Entity Project (2019)
Not bad
I actually enjoyed this film. It's been a while since a film has kept my attention like this one did.
Loved the 'haunted house' itself, plenty of creaking floorboards and squeaky hinges, also the suitably spooky basement scenes.
The dialogue was scrappy in places, like it may have been improvised. Pretty standard for a 'found footage' horror, however, I found the storyline engaging and felt that a lot was actually left to the imagination of the viewer, which is something I enjoy (I have one hell of an overactive imagination); we do not need to see the big, scary monster to know that it is actually there ...
Not great, but not at all that bad, it kept me entertained for a while.
The Demon Inside (2017)
99 Minutes I will never get back
If I could give this a minus rating I would. The characters were completely dislikable, and the only reason I watched this until the end was in the hope that they all died horrid, lingering deaths. Sadly, a couple of them survived. The acting was non existent, (where did they get these 'actors'? The kid had the most talent in my opinion), and the 'special effects' were distinctly underwhelming - however, the soundtrack was moderately ok. If I never see this garbage again, I will lead a happy life. Don't waste your time on this garbage, it should have been left on the cutting room floor.
A Dark Path (2020)
Dark enough to be creepy
As low budget UK horror films go, this one at least kept my interest. A lot was left to the imagination (always a good thing for me). Yes, I know this kind of genre has been done to death, and the acting was a little more than wooden. However, as mentioned before, it held my attention. I do recommend this to those of us that can still use our imagination.
