The Batman (2022)
Batman but even more depressed
I remember hearing Robert Pattinson would be Batman and thinking "Why?". His potrayal was dry. He had about as much personality as the light in my fridge when the door is closed. The relationship between batman and Catwoman was comical and forced. At one point I felt like I had been watching it forever. I checked the time and realized I still had 1.5 hours left. It was a chore.
Sweet Magnolias (2020)
Poor writing
I enjoyed the first season. I've liked the second up until I started paying more attention. I finally realized Dana-Sue was messing around with her cheating ex. Why are women always written to forgive their cheating spouse? Her friends giggle and encourage her behaviour. Maddie's husband cheated on her. Has multiple children with multiple women. She can't forgive him. Maddie was furious he fathered a child when he was 16 but yet openly admires the kids mother for giving him up for adoption and keeping it a secret for 22 years from EVERYONE. What?
As soon as I realized where the storyline was going for Cal and his anger issues I got upset. His fan entered the business, refuses to leave, threatened violence and yet everyone was upset Cal forcefully tried to remove him and punched him. Ok. Who is writing this show? Why can't we write th we characters more fiercely? Why can't they reject their cheating spouse and move on?
How I Met Your Father (2022)
Lacks reality and ditch the laugh track
It is hard to understand or like each character. I feel little connection to any of them. I wish they would spend more time showing the humanity in these people. I know the show is new and they have limited time. The stories are all the same. They're predictable.
The laugh track really kills it all for me. I don't like being told something is funny. It makes it hard to connect with the characters when there is an ominous group of laughter.
Sitcoms work when they are loose and natural. They don't need to force jokes or try to be relevant. They just need to be real.
Only Murders in the Building: The Boy from 6B (2021)
CHILLS!
I am BLOWN away by the acting in this episode! The story was told in such a wonderful and endearing way. You truly felt for the character as you were submersed in his every day life.
This show has delivered every week but this episode? Raw talent. Can't wait to hear about the awards it will receive.
Cinderella (2021)
Disregard the negativity
Was it predictible and cheesy? Definitely. It is a musical that is based on a story we all know and that has been done so many times
However, it was entertaining! The music was great. The acting didn't make me cringe. There were moments of comedy that made me chuckle.
I went in to it not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews but I hope that everyone gives it a try.
Prodigal Son: Like Father... (2020)
Unpredictable!
I was a bit overwhelmed with how fast the show seemed to be moving in the last two episodes. It seems they rushed production to beat the impending shutdown due to COVID. I am so glad they did!
This episode DID NOT disappoint. I rewound a few scenes to take in what I had just seen or heard.
Jessica is an incredibly strong and fierce woman! She comes alive and flies in to fight mode.
Malcom does the unthinkable and allows his girl in the box to literally get away with murder.
Ainsley! Wowzer. Not only did she thoroughly get a rush from killing but I cant help but wonder how Malcom missed potential signs. Were there hints that we (& Malcom)missed on who she truly was?
I look forward to season 2!
Ready or Not (2019)
Pretty good
There isn't anything surprising or a major unexpected twist. Just some good gore and great laughs. At one point I asked if they were being serious with the plot through my laughter. I genuinely enjoyed it and am not dissapointed.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Emotional rollercoaster
With a runtime of 3 hours it blew by so quickly. Watching it in a packed theater for the first time was fantastic. We all laughed, gasped, jumped, and fell silent in unison. From the residual laughter after a funny scene to the soft sobs of people processing the deaths; we all shared in the viewing of a true masterpiece.
The acting was fantastic. The story telling was brilliant. They gave us what we wanted and deserved without compromise or restraint.
I'm sad to say goodbye but excited for where they are taking us next.
Sierra Burgess Is a Loser (2018)
Predictable and just mean
About 10 minutes in I knew I should stop watching. I knew I'd end up angry. I knew I'd hate Sierra.
I was right.
The story was terrible. Sierra turns in to a terrible person. The cast is the only good thing about this movie.
