Bastarden (2023)
Love Mads
I loved it, a historical and biographical film full of feelings. A heartbreaking story of a cruel and classist Denmark, which reveals how social classes divide us and bring out the worst in human beings. A character who does not allow himself to be intimidated and undertakes a battle so unequal that he will put not only his life at risk, but also the family of marginalized people that has formed around him. Ludvig Kahlen is an outcast, a bastard who longs for a noble title, a title that is far from giving him happiness and, above all, dignity. A Mads Mikkelsen who perfectly embodies a man devastated by poverty, misunderstanding and disdain for a solitary life. A man who only hopes to live his dream...serve the king!
Berlín (2023)
Berlín or Andres
Berlin, Berlin? And why not Andres? Yes, Berlin was the alias that the character of Sndres adopted to hide his true identity. Screenwriter's error or did I miss something? Alicia and Murillo? Friends so close that they wonder what color the panties they are wearing? Hmm, as far as I know, that phrase was the professor's phrase towards Lisbon (Murillo) to give that connotation of intimacy to the characters. Keyla somewhat similar to Tokyo and the rebellious girl Cameron takes me back to the Nairobi episodes...many similarities. A lot of romance, little action. A lot of vanality in the face of the theft of the century.
Napoleon (2023)
Francia, armé and Josefin
Expected a Napoleon that was more true to the real character. I can understand that director Ridley Scott is a regular follower of Joaquin Phoenix and was captivated by his histrionic character and his ease of improvisation, but he removed himself from what we know about Napoleon Bonaparte. Young, bold, meticulous and in love with a Josefin who was 6 years older than him. The truth is, it wasn't a bad way to pass the time, but I wanted to meet a Napoleon who made history. I am not giving it a higher rating because I expected more from that great director. I waited for the film with anticipation and left the theater feeling like I wanted an explanation.
