Stargate Universe (2009)
I hate this mistake
I love this show. Gritty and dark while still holding to that classic Stargate humour. However, the mistake I refer to is Battlestar Galactica. All of you self-obsessed, gloomy Battlestar fans automatically assume that the next dark and gritty show is the replacement for your beloved hour of depressing doom. This is not a replacement for Battlestar. This is a replacement for a longer-running, more successful and more widely loved show, Stargate. The sooner you stop watching this show with your Galactica goggles on and start watching it like any other sci-fi show, the better. Battlestar was too depressing for me. Sure I watched a bit of it once in a while, but my viewing always tapered off while I watched more Stargate. Stargate always made more sense to me then Battlestar because of the humour. The humans on Galactica always seemed to be like cylons to me because of the lack of humour. Its human nature to joke and laugh when times seem to be at their worst. Sure when someone dies its really inappropriate to laugh, but if it wasn't so depressing all the time I would have liked it more. Humans can't be that depressed and sober for that long or we'd go insane. This show perfectly combines dark grittiness with light humour while at the same time delivering a show that still feels like Stargate. There are still critics who say that in every Stargate episode an impossible scenario is given and the team always manages to figure out a solution before the end of the show. They forget that this is true of the majority of action/drama shows. The difference with Stargate is that the solution is rarely perfect and no one does impossible like Stargate.
No Country for Old Men (2007)
Said he knew he was going to hell. "Be there in about fifteen minutes".
This movie was amazing. It definitely deserves the Oscar for best picture. I'm going to give you a few reasons why this movie is so amazing. The reason why they killed off the lead was to show that know one, not even the lead character in a movie, is invincible. The reason why the bad guy lived was to show how good at killing people he really was. If he was killed by a hillbilly with a shotgun then he must not be very good at his job. I love how at the end you don't actually know if he killed the wife, it just shows him walking out the door. On a side note, the main reason why this movie won best picture was because of the performance by Javier Bardem. He is EPIC in this movie.
Royal Canadian Air Farce (1993)
Rest in Peace: John Morgan
I am not interested in the show currently because the only reasonably good new person is Jessica Holmes. The show used to be great before John Morgan retired. Everything went down-hill after that. It seems the original cast just stopped caring. The Tim Horton's scene was never as good and they even got rid of the Chicken Cannon. When John Morgan was on the show I liked it more then the Rick Mercer Report. Nothing was better then "Mike from Canmore". The Royal Canadian Air Farce died with the retirement of John Morgan. For anyone who doesn't think John Morgan was one of the greatest Canadian's on TV:
GET STUFFED!!!!
Eragon (2006)
The worst movie since Alexander
The difference between the book and the movie is like the difference between The Lord of the Rings and Alexander. In case you didn't get the clue, I have read the book. The Ra'zac are very important in the first two books and they die in this movie, they don't show Galbatorix in either of the books, the Urgals were supposed to look like tall Orcs with horns, they completely cut out over five cities and towns and they cut out the dwarfs. They shouldn't have let a new director start off a career with a book to movie adaptation. You would think that someone who has worked on Terminator 2, Jurassic Park and The Bourne Identity would actually be good at making movies. In my opinion they should have at least tried to get Peter Jackson who is actually good at finding new talent and making movies. My opinion on watching this movie is don't, just don't.
