Maid (2021)

Dramatic and Over Dramatic

This show has all the makings of an effective story based on the real life events of the main characters inspiration who wrote the book that inspired this show. While at times it hits hard between the struggles of abuse, being provided nothing for legal counsel, to her moments with her daughter you can't help but wonder were all these moments actually true (too much coincidence right?). Well it turns out a lot of this is fictionalized for dramatic effect and things were not AS bad as they were for this show and hence a lot of moments do feel unrealistic/convenient to happen and that takes me personally out of it.

Worth a watch but go into it with realistic expectations that this is a show not the whole hearted truth of what really happened.

Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024)

Cash Grab Film with generic/mediocre results

I remember taking my brother on his golden birthday to see the first Kung Fu Panda movie in theaters back in 2006 and it was one of the most magical moments of my life staring how much my 7 year old brother at the time love that movie and so did I. Second movie couple years later was just a slight step down but overall was pretty good still.. I even enjoyed the third film a little bit. But this fourth movie oh no this one is clearly a cash grab with a mediocre story,mediocre villain, only one voice actor for the returning villains/furious five and can we stop having Awkwafina be in every animated film??? Humor was decent at time, the action was forgettable, and the overall plot was formulaic. This should be the end but it obviously won't be now...

House of Ninjas (2024– )

Shinobi Incredibles

This show has no business being this good. Where did it come from... How did it fly under the radar like this? I never would have imagined liking a show this much that I didn't know was coming in the first place. House of Ninjas has everything you could want in a fully developed storyline. Humor, action, drama, emotion, excitement, thrills you name it. I compare this show to The Incredibles loosely given it's virtually a Rated R/MA program of ninjas killing other ninjas but the premise is a family that has been out of the game is slowly brought back in and I will be there every step of the way going forward. Well done!

Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024– )

Greatness wants to be unleashed, but...

The story is fantastic, the characters already established are fantastic, it has a Netflix sized budget/production at its disposal, it even has a predecessor to look towards in terms of what not to do to be better and yet the acting of the younger characters is what really holds this show from being great. The script also is wooden at times and over explains rather than shows you that emotion, payoff, etc. Every episode had its moment to shine and some did while others felt like it was being rushed, made, or acted by mediocrity. I sure hope they focus on getting the younger cast to ask more authentic rather than sounding like they are reciting lines for a play. Fingers crossed!

Reservation Dogs (2021–2023)

Decent show with odd final season

Reservation Dogs hits extremely well right out of the gates as a fun, sort of coming of age feel show about 4 teens going through life on the Res. The show has laughs, feels, some excitement throughout but slowly matures into more about the community rather than the teens it seems to push as the stars. Season 2 was more of the same, but let's talk about season 3... To me this is where the show runners knew the show was done and instead of naturally flowing the story line it became more of an anthology in which each episode did not flow into the next and more satisfied goals in random order. Very jarring if you ask me. I really wanted this show to go out on a complete high note because it was well done, but to me it exited on a whimper in terms of what could have been.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

Cringey at best, but Kang is real

After seeing how Kang was revealed in Loki I thought we were in for a real treat going forward anytime he showed up. Luckily Kang still was pretty good in this film but the problem is the rest of the film was so awful... The dialogue, the secondary characters, all of it was truly cringe-worthy and I feel like this was truly meant for young children to be watching this film. Now that Bob chapek is out at Disney I hope everything gets back on track because this film is the epitome of mediocrity at best. Don't get me started on modok as I'm sure everyone else felt the same way seeing how terrible that looked. Let's raise a toast that Jonathan majors continues as kang and that we hope the films become legendary once again going forward.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)

It's a me... Meh-rio!

After seeing the trailers I shockingly had somewhat high expectations that this movie was going to rock through and through and at times that maybe the case but this is a heartless spectacle of a film. Target audience will clearly be more focused towards younger children rather than general audience or in fact any type of gamer older then the age of 13. Is there some nostalgic moments obviously but I can't help but think how much of a wasted opportunity this film truly was considering the voice talent the visuals and the gameplay they had to use for inspiration for it's just feel completely heartless in the end. Who would have thought Sonic was better than this turned out to be??!

The Last of Us: Look for the Light (2023) Season 1, Episode 9

Stuck the landing!

Well done TLOA crew. The finale makes or breaks most shows and you crushed this finale. This story is a tragedy plain and simple and you get every ounce of that tragedy in this episode. The fate of the world is in their hands and they make a choice that will alter that fate forever. Decisions whether important to them or not were made throughout and those choices have immediate consequences and other consequences that will come later for them. Terrific montage type filming and dramatic score to emphasis what was happening and trying not to spoil this for others so hopefully you found the beauty in what this was and where it's going in the future seasons.

The Last of Us: Left Behind (2023) Season 1, Episode 7

Weakest episode by design

This episode is based on the DLC left behind story line following Ellie and her best friend Riley and how they came to be and how they also came to their end of their friendship. By design of just being a small DLC storyline this in nature was going to be one of the weaker elements of the overall product. It doesn't mean that this is actually a bad episode it just is a smaller more intimate story to tell that has some but not major ramifications for the overall storyline. I thought the two leads did great for what they had to work with but my question is will they actually show Ellie putting Riley down? Will they show Riley die at all while they show Riley turn? I didn't play the DLC but I knew about it personally. The next two episodes are going to wreck you if you have never played the games before so prepare yourself!

Alexa & Katie (2018–2020)

Show lacks energy...

This show tries it's best to be funny and meaningful but as you watch you can feel the awkwardness and lack of energy from the actors and the "audience." The show tries to follow positive messaging which is hit or miss depending on your experience related to such messages. The two stars are alright with their acting skills but even then it's quite sub par to the older sitcoms that came before. Boy Meets World, Family Matters, Fresh Prince, Sam and Kat, Liv and Maddie you name it those shows are far and away better than this one. Supporting actors are extremely forgettable or stupid aka the males in this show so there's that issue also.

The Last of Us: Part II (2020 Video Game)

Finally complete

When this game first came out and everyone review bombed it because they were upset about certain characters paths endings controversies leaking etc it really turned me off to even wanting to play it even though I'd already purchased the game because of how excited I was from the first one being so amazing. I played the first 45 minutes over a year ago and never went back to it until about 3 weeks ago and I couldn't stop playing it until I finished it it's that good! The storyline is wonderful yet heartbreaking the action is heart pounding and this is in a video game!! I am more than pumped to watch the series come out on HBO in January and I'll be there for every minute of this amazing two-part saga thus far well done!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)

Starts strong burns out slowly

Wakanda Forever had me from the get go. The pace was perfect, the tribute was elegant, the introduction of Namor and his people was great, the action was heart pounding.... And then the rest happened. The film needed a stronger lead to follow throughout the film but how can you if you don't recast T'Challa? The film ultimately suffered from that absence but when you lose your star player the rest of the team generally suffers somewhat. Angela Bassett was great, probably the most impactful I've seen her in some time. Love Okoye in this one... She had the best action scene in the whole film. Shuri, Nakia, Umbaku, and Namor had their moments to shine but just like great role players they are not perfect stars but solid nonetheless. The outfit choices and some poor CGI, a long with a slog of a middle portion of the film is what dragged this down out of the top 10 MCU films for me. Fyi younger kids will likely not enjoy this film due to the mature themes throughout and lack of entertaining scenes.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022)

Naked Gun and Bohemian Rhapsody had a baby...

Weird was truly on an epic path within the first 20-25 minutes and then the wheels started to fall off for me. This story is about 3% true unlike what most people are saying... Which is fine but when you sell something as being 100% true well you know the drill. Radcliffe was surprisingly infectious with his enthusiasm and performance and you will really enjoy watching him on screen. Everyone else is forgettable including Madonna ( played by Evan Rachael Wood - who despite the weird turns her character makes did a good job also). This is Naked Gun stupid which Parodies are supposed to aim at but this one wasn't for me in the end.

Ozark: Fire Pink (2020) Season 3, Episode 9

Taking a dramatic turn

This was expertly crafted as a Tragedy from the beginning shots to the very end of this episode. Very tough to endure yet unable to look away. Brutal, sad, and gut wrenching all in one. Well done, but I will not want to re watch this episode personally.

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

The mighty have fallen...

Marvel hit the highest of highs with Infinity War/End Game and even releasing the next two Spidey films, Shang Chi, and the Final Spider Man film but my lord have their films taken a nose dive since. BW, Eternals, DS2, and now this film hitting the lowest point yet in my opinion. Bob Chapel better let Fiege have creative control back ASAP because this is approaching DCEU territory bad. This film is horrible with the humor,Gorr is barely in it, too much focus on kids, on and on I could go. Pray things get better quickly.

Hustle (2022)

Solid film with a let down 3rd act

Great humor, heartfelt, and formulaic to a T. The 3rd act is repetitive from the 2nd so I felt the momentum lose speed towards the finish line. Adam Sandler continues to show why he should stop doing dumb comedies and stick to Drama. He is a solid actor.

What ana amazing episode. Brilliant animation, emotion, tension, thrilling, etc. This is a 10 and I don't give those out lightly. This made me grit my teeth thinking Mob was going to get beaten and when that number jacks up to 100 it was on. Well done!

Attack on Titan: The Dawn of Humanity (2022) Season 4, Episode 28

Decent prelude to what's to come...

Season 4 itself first...I'll never get over how awful these characters look under MAPPA and even if this was done by the author it still jars me to this day they all like sleep deprived dull versions of themselves.

As for the episode: This episode is not a 10 based on what it was. This showed small flash backs leading up to the Rumbling and based on the limited dialogue and jet packing through the party with the refugees this episode is not elite by any stretch. Now if you wanna say "but the ending though?!!!" That doesn't justify a 9.9 rating. Next episode could be a solid 10 and I will be glad to do so, but collectively this episode is not that.
