A Ranjith Cinema (2023)
Painfully slow and Enmeshed story
The description of the movie on Netflix aroused and interest to watch the movie. However the description only is of second half of the movie and of few minutes.
Although the acting seems to be at par for all characters, the movie is a huge disappointment in terms of screenplay, direction and editing.
Too many characters and storylines appearing in random and a scene which could have been asking short as 30s goes on for 5 minutes.
In the end, attempt to make things all good and abruptly provide ending to all storyline seems uncharacteristic of all the plots which seemed different in the initial depiction
Overall huge disappointment and feels like absolutely waste of time.
Aachar & Co (2023)
Short and Delightful leaving you wanting for more
Although known for its accurate portrayal of old age Bengaluru, there is more to it. It is a narrative of decades of story in a small runtime leaving you wanting more substance for each plot of each decade. Often this is a negative aspect of many movies but once you leave the theater with this sense. You realize that is one of the best attributes of the movie.
Predominantly consisting of newcomers, all the actors provide worth for each role they portray. Timely background score matching the decades and amazing music and songs overall keep you happy. The storytelling of Kannan Gill and Sindhu is amazing and so is the direction.
All in all it's a must-watch movie and you can basket it under the comedy/feel-good genre. You will thoroughly enjoy particularly if you are from Bengaluru and make sure to watch it with generations of family to get all the additional stories for each prop and situation.
Varane Avashyamund (2020)
Smooth Transitions
It is one such movie in which you enter without expectation and feel good at the end about the value of time spent!
It portrays many scenes that in a traditional movie would be difficult to watch in a delightful and optimistically realistic way
The transitions of the roles and relationships although expected are very smooth be it the difficult relationships of mother and daughter which one would assume was smooth initially or the relationship between a angry old man and a talented romantic woman.
Direction and the story telling is absolutely brilliant which is fulfilled by brilliant roles of all characters.
Can be definitely characterized as a " Feel Good" Movie as that is how you will feel at end of it!

The Brilliance is in the acting, screenplay and direction
There are lots of good things to say about this movie but lets start with ones that are leading to negative reviews
- With Raj hitting high scores in his previous endeavors, this falls substantially short in comparison
- Expected storyline which might feel bland for the overall spice which raj has been providing so far
Now to talk about the good
- Screenplay is brilliant accompanied by excellent editing and background score. It is difficult to appreciate each of it separately but combined these 3 aspects make you not get off the chairs.
- Surprisingly amazing acting of " newcomer" Chaithra Achar who fulfills her role as jenny to the core making you feel extremely sad for the fate of her character.
- Direction is beyond doubt amazing here as well
Despite this you will feel in the end that something is missing and overall you just feel sad and helpless.

A thorough court room drama which is worth the time you invest
Went with no expectations considering mixed reviews across the internet. However, it was pleasantly gripping throughout despite the lack of obvious suspense upfront about the crime in question.
The acting is unsurprisingly good overall except for the primary negative character in question both his role and acting is stereotypical.
A lot of unnecessary attempts to enhance the movie screenplay by forcefully introducing sections of law. The law language was very artificial in the mouth of the actors.
That said the brilliance of the movie lies in the overall storyline and direction.
Overall it will be disappointing if you were expecting another drishyam but if you have no expectations, you come out with a good feeling of having spent your time in an engaging movie.
The Trial (2023)
Movie with incessant mindless twists stigmatising mental illness
Let me be honest! Went into the movie with a lot of expectations considering a lot of reviews mentioned in IMDB above. Adding multiple layers of twists in a suspense movie is the current trend. Wholly the movie is built on the same premise of showing a single scene in various possible forms. There is no natural flow in the film. Jumping from one scene to another mindlessly. Acting also seems to be subpar overall although the attempts made by the Lead characters cannot be discounted. Background score also seems to be in shambles with volume raising and dropping randomly and attempting to display the brilliance of twist using the background score for hapless twists is a sad attempt.
Building a negative character is necessary for movies with suspense but that doesn't mean that you bring in mental health and professionals without proper background checks. To an already stigmatizing world, this is just an addition that tries to use the mental illness angle as a possible layer of twist but fails to build it properly. Overall a sad and stigmatizing movie.
PS You might like it if you are enthralled by layers of mindless twists.
