Bringing Down the House (2003)
Disgusting
I went to the sneak preview of this film over the weekend. I expected a class comedy, like Martin's earlier film 'All of Me'. Unfortunately what I got was something more like 'Porky's'. Very disappointing. Steve Martin's comic timing seemed to be off as well, and the editing and direction was below average. And, I can't understand why all the people in the theater were laughing. This movie was filled with crass material, and Joan Plowright's solo was the final straw. Give me a break.
Dracula père et fils (1976)
Awful
Possibly the worst dubbed film I have ever seen, miserable acting to boot makes this one of Lee's worst Vampire attempts. Skip this film in English, maybe the original language version redeems. Catch Love at First bite for a better attempt at satire. good luck.
Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968)
Lee looks spectacular
Without a doubt, Christopher Lee never looked more impressive as the lead character. Freddie Francis no doubt knew more about cinematography then dialogue, as both the settings and Lee's makeup make the third entry in the series the most visually striking. Lee's coloring, gray temples and cape was never filmed with more verve. The script on the other hand, and Lee's over-the-top acting in the final scene make most of the film forgettable. Why the script would refer to the crucifix as a "thing", just proves inane dialogue can never be overcome. `Horror of Dracula' still the best.
