The Unwavering Strength in True Friendship - Manjummel Boys
6 May 2024
Manjummel Boys is a survival thriller movie that shows the enduring power of friendship. A group of friends on a vacation face a nightmare when one gets trapped in a cave. The film masterfully builds tension, showcasing the desperation and resilience of the remaining friends as they fight for their companion's life.

Soubin Shahir and Sreenath Bhasi deliver a great performances, portraying the deep bond between the characters. The flashbacks weave a beautiful tapestry of their shared past, making their unwavering loyalty even more impactful.

Cinematographer captures the breathtaking beauty of Kodaikanal, contrasting it with the claustrophobic darkness of the cave. The background score by Sushin Shyam perfectly complements the emotional journey, adding depth to each scene.

While the pacing might feel slow in the first act, the second half delivers a nail-biting rescue operation. Manjummel Boys is not just a survival story; it's a testament to the unwavering strength found in true friendship. Prepare for an emotional rollercoaster, but know that the film's heart lies in its genuine portrayal of human connection.

Yodha (2024)
7/10
Non-stop Action but story is too predictable.
29 April 2024
Yodha is a action movie based on a task force starring Siddharth Malhotra, Raashii Khanna and Disha Patani, movie is filled with action sequences, particularly those set within the claustrophobic confines of a hijacked plane. Siddharth Malhotra delivers a committed performance as the ostracized soldier, Arun, fueled by a thirst for redemption. The fight choreography is inventive, utilizing the plane's unique environment to its advantage.

However, the film falters when it attempts a complex narrative. The revenge plot against the system feels muddled. Despite the efforts of the cast, some character motivations remain unconvincing. Overall, Yodha is a crowd-pleaser for fans of action cinema. It's a visually stunning film with a captivating central performance. But for those seeking a more nuanced story, Yodha might not be a good choice.

A Timeless Romance with Heart
28 April 2024
The Age of Adaline offers a captivating twist on the classic love story. Blake Lively shines as Adaline, a woman rendered ageless after an accident. Living a solitary life to hide her secret, she meets Ellis (Michiel Huisman) who reignites her passion for life. Their connection is undeniable, but the burden of Adaline's immortality casts a shadow on their future.

The film explores the weight of immortality, the constant goodbyes, and the yearning for connection. The supporting cast, including Harrison Ford as Ellis' insightful father, adds warmth and humor. While the plot might be predictable at times, the film's emotional core and the undeniable chemistry between Lively and Huisman make it a worthwhile watch.

The Age of Adaline isn't a groundbreaking story, but it's a visually stunning and heartwarming exploration of love, loss, and the courage to embrace life's fleeting moments.

A Grand Spectacle Fueled by Destiny and Sand
27 April 2024
Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part Two," a visually spectacular sequel that expands on the complex world-building of its predecessor. The movie dives deeper into Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) mythic journey, exploring his growing connection with the Fremen and his struggle with his prophetic visions. Zendaya emerges as a powerful presence as Chani, Paul's love interest and a key figure in the Fremen rebellion.

Action sequences are thrilling, particularly the sandworm battles and the Fremen's guerilla warfare against the cruel Harkonnens. The return of familiar characters like Javier Bardem's cunning strategist, Stilgar, is a welcome addition.

However, "Dune: Part Two" prioritizes spectacle over emotional intimacy. The focus on political machinations and epic battles can overshadow character development at times. The film also assumes viewers remember the intricacies of the first part, which might be a hurdle for newcomers.

Despite these minor stumbles, "Dune: Part Two" is a worthy successor, a visually stunning and thought-provoking epic that leaves audiences eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Paul's grand destiny.

A Visually Stunning Movie
27 April 2024
Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part One" isn't just a movie; it's an immersive experience. The vast deserts of Arrakis come alive with breathtaking visuals, from the big sandworms to the sleek spaceships of House Atreides. Hans Zimmer's score throbs with an otherworldly energy, perfectly capturing the harsh beauty and hidden dangers of the desert planet.

Timothée Chalamet delivers a compelling performance as Paul Atreides, the young heir burdened by destiny. Rebecca Ferguson adds depth as his enigmatic mother, Lady Jessica, a member of the mysterious Bene Gesserit order. While the film takes its time establishing the complex political landscape and rich mythology, the world-building feels deliberate, drawing viewers into the intricate web of alliances and rivalries.

However, The focus on setting the stage means the emotional connection to some characters feels underdeveloped. Despite these shortcomings, "Dune: Part One" is a visually stunning movie. It's a film that leaving audiences eager to explore the deeper mysteries hinted at in this grand opening movie.

Another masterpiece from Vineeth
14 April 2024
Just watched Varshangalkku Shesham directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan. Starring Pranav Mohanlal as Murali and Dhyan Sreenivasan as Venu in lead roles.

The movie promises a feel good experience. The film's emotional depth and well-placed humor make it a delightful watch. The first half of the movie introduces us to background and stories of the lead characters, while the second half takes unexpected twists and turns, introduction of Basil Joseph and Nivin Pauly makes the movie more interesting.

Nivin Pauly shines in his role, notably the dialogues and his reactions felt more realistic compared to the real incidents about body shaming and all

The chemistry between Dhyan and Pranav is commendable. And Vineeth introduced most of the same actors from his previous movie and all.

A Masterful Portrayal of Duty and Grief
13 April 2024
In the movie Helen Mirren gives a great portrayal as Queen Elizabeth ll dealing with Diana's passing and a people desperate for the statement of The Queen. We observe a confrontation between tradition and modernity, the Queen's emotional pain and public responsibility. The film isn't a spectacular biopic, but rather a subtle character study. Mirren's portrayal of the Queen portrays both her sensitivity and strength. The script contains smart dialogue, notably in her confrontations with Prime Minister Blair, played by Michael Sheen. The Queen concentrates on a critical moment, showing the monarchy's inner workings as well as the Queen's humanity. It's a must-see for fans of serious dramas and Helen Mirren's compelling performance.

Damsel (2024)

A good watch for fans of Millie Bobby Brown and lighthearted fantasy adventures. But those seeking a groundbreaking narrative might be disappointed.
13 April 2024
Millie Bobby Brown shines as a warrior princess in Damsel. This action-packed fantasy throws her Elodie into a dragon-guarded escape from a forced marriage. The stunning visuals, particularly the landscapes and the dragon, are a feast for the eyes. Brown delivers a fierce performance, proving she can do these kind of movies as well.

While the plot might be predictable, the film's creatures like talking dragon keep things fresh. Though some supporting characters lack depth, the fast pace keeps the focus on Elodie's thrilling journey.

Damsel isn't a groundbreaking story, but it's a blast for fans of Brown and fantastical adventures.

One time watch Rom-Com Movie
13 April 2024
Just watched premalu and it's a one time watch feel good movie. In the movie Sachin, played by Naslen K Gafoor, is an engineering graduate who wants to advance his profession in the United Kingdom and is so bored with his hometown and the family's bakery business that he seeks an escape. Sachin briefly relocates to Hyderabad at the recommendation of his friend Amal, played by Sangeeth Prathap. There, he meets Reenu, played by Mamitha Baiju, an IT professional, and he develops feelings for her. However, Aadhi, played by Shyam Mohan, a senior colleague at the company, shows an interest in Reenu. And that makes the movie more comdey.

Naslen and Sangeeth Prathap steal the show with their innocent yet hilarious characterizations. Among the female actors, Mamitha Baiju and Akhila Bhargavan are a delight to watch, with Mamitha Baiju delivering her best performance. Meenakshi Raveendran, portraying the role of Wanderlust, appears sporadically but manages to evoke laughter.

As Sachin and Reenu form a friendship, events unfold toward the conclusion that shapes the narrative. As a drawback it felt like clinched story and predictable climax.

The Mask of Madness
13 April 2024
The Last King of Scotland is a 2006 historical drama film directed by Kevin Macdonald. It isn't a typical dictator biopic. Instead, we experience the horrors of Idi Amin's regime through the eyes of Nicholas, a young Scottish doctor played by James McAvoy. Lured by adventure, Nicholas becomes Amin's (played by Forest Whitaker) personal physician, witnessing the dictator's charisma mask a terrifying brutality towards the people of Uganda. The film excels at portraying the seductive allure of power and the gradual descent into darkness. While some criticize the historical liberties taken, focusing on a fictional character brings a chilling intimacy to the atrocities. Be prepared for violence, but The Last King of Scotland is a rewarding watch for its powerful performances and thought-provoking exploration of power, corruption, and the seductive nature of evil.

Unraveling the dark reality behind the African medical aid.
12 April 2024
The Constant Gardener is a 2005 drama thriller movie directed by Fernando Meirelles and the movie delves into corruption and conspiracy. Ralph Fiennes delivers a powerful performance as a grieving diplomat uncovering the dark truth behind his activist wife's played by Rachel Weisz murder in Kenya. The film goes beyond a simple whodunit, exposing the exploitation of Africans by powerful corporations. Be prepared for a raw and emotional journey. Weisz shines as the passionate activist, highlighting the human cost behind corporate greed. The vibrant Kenyan landscapes provide a stark contrast to the ugly secrets Fiennes unearths. Don't expect a happy ending, but this thought-provoking film will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Buckle up for a blast to the past with "Back to the Future"
10 April 2024
I just watched Back to the Future (1985), a sci-fi comedy in which a teenager called Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is transported to 1955 by a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his scientist buddy Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd).

The movie is an excellent blend of humor and action. Marty's 80s fashion clash with 50s style is funny, as are his attempts to fit in. The unexpected bond Marty has with his parents is at the center of the story. He views them in a completely new light, recognizing that they weren't always boring grownups.

Back to the Future isn't all fun and games. It cleverly delves into issues of family, destiny, and the strength of friendship. The special effects, while not mind blowing by today's standards, but it hold up surprisingly well and perfectly capture the magic of time travel. This movie is a timeless classic. It's a crowd-pleaser with something for everyone action, laughs, and a touch of heartwarming sentimentality.

Against All Odds
9 April 2024
Cinderella Man movie is a wonderful portrayal of the human spirit's resilience. Ron Howard directed the film, which stars Russell Crowe as James J. Braddock, whose boxing return symbolizes hope during the Great Depression. Crowe provides a subtle performance that captures Braddock's tenacity and humility. Renée Zellweger excels as his supporting wife, Mae, providing emotional dimension to the story. The film's accurate portrayal of the 1930s, paired with its thrilling boxing scenes, sets it apart. It's more than just a biography movie, it's a celebration of endurance, family, and integrity. This cinematic gem resonates with its portrayal of a guy who battled against all odds, both inside and outside the ring. It's a great movie to watch.

Perfection, I Felt It.
9 April 2024
Black Swan is a movie from the Hollywood about scary things that happen in someone's mind. Darren Aronofsky directed it, and Mark Heyman, John McLaughlin, and Andres Heinz wrote the script. It's based on a story by Heinz. The story is about a ballet show in New York City. The show is "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky. The main dancer, Nina Sayers, played by Portman, is perfect for the role of the good and gentle White Swan. But there's also a part for the bad and bold Black Swan. Lily, played by Kunis, is better at being the Black Swan. Nina feels a lot of pressure to do well and starts to feel very confused and scared, which makes her act crazy.

The Fighter (I) (2010)

Christian Bale as Dicky is something.🔥
7 April 2024
The Fighter movie is a portrayal of boxer Micky Ward played by Mark Wahlberg, who is stuck in his overbearing family's corner, Micky dreams of championship glory while battling his drug-addicted half-brother played by Christian Bale, who's both his trainer and biggest burden.

This film goes beyond the boxing ring. The movie shows the dysfunctional family and Micky's struggle to break free. Wahlberg delivers a powerful performance, but it's Bale's transformative role that steals the show.

The Fighter isn't afraid to get down and dirty, showcasing the harsh realities of a boxer's life. Yet, humor peeks through the cracks, balancing the intensity. It's a compelling story about family bonds, the fight for self-belief, and ultimately, finding the strength within yourself to become a champion.

Love and Limits
6 April 2024
Five Feet Apart is a story about two teens, Stella and Will, played by Haley Lu Richardson and Cole Sprouse, who both have cystic fibrosis (CF). This movie, directed by Justin Baldoni, shows the hard realities of this chronic illness, but also a beautiful love story that blooms between them.

Stella is very careful with her treatments, while Will is more rebellious. This difference makes their relationship interesting and easy to connect with. Even though they can't touch because of their illness, the movie shows how strong their feelings are for each other.

Five Feet Apart isn't just a love story. It reminds us to cherish every moment we have and shows how strong people can be, even when things are really tough. It's a powerful story about connection and hope.

The film balances humor and genuine emotions.
4 April 2024
50/50 is not a typical tearjerker. Instead, it's a funny and heartfelt portrayal of a young man named Adam, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is diagnosed with cancer. The film skillfully balances humor and genuine emotions. Gordon-Levitt's performance as Adam captures the complexities of navigating fear and frustration. Seth Rogen provides comic relief without trivializing the seriousness of the situation. Anjelica Huston shines as Adam's concerned mother. While the movie doesn't shy away from the harsh realities of cancer, it also finds humor in unexpected moments. Ultimately, 50/50 is a touching story about friendship, resilience, and finding joy in life's toughest moments.

When Metro Man is mysteriously vanquished, Megamind grapples with an unanticipated crisis - "what's the point of evil without good?"

Good Movie
2 April 2024
Silver Linings Playbook goes through humor and heartbreak. Bradley Cooper shines as Pat, a man with bipolar disorder determined to win back his wife. And Tiffany played by Jennifer Lawrence, a young widow with her own problems. Their unlikely partnership for a dance competition forms the crux of the story.

The film excels in its portrayal of mental illness. It's not romanticized, but the characters struggles feel genuine. The humor arises from their quirks and anxieties, but never feels mean-spirited. There's a strong supporting cast too, with Robert De Niro delivering a memorable performance as Pat's obsessive-compulsive father.

While the dance competition is a bit cliche, it serves as a metaphor for Pat and Tiffany's growth. Their journey isn't about finding a cure, but about learning to live with their flaws and finding strength in each other. The film's message of hope and acceptance resonates, making Silver Linings Playbook a ultimately uplifting crowd-pleaser.

The story revolves around Kishorilal (Amrish Puri), an NRI in America who wants an Indian bride for his westernized son. The movie shows the Cost of War.
1 April 2024
All Quiet on the Western Front isn't a typical war movie. It punches you in the gut with the brutal reality of WWI. We follow Paul played brilliantly by Felix Kammerer, a German soldier who loses his innocence alongside his friends in the trenches. The film doesn't shy away from the horrors of war, showing the physical and emotional toll it takes. Despite the bleakness, there's a powerful message about the importance of humanity and the cost of war. The story resonates, making you reflect on the devastating impact of conflict. It's a must-watch for those who want to understand the true human cost of war.

Breaking the Mob
31 March 2024
Gangster Squad packs a punch with shootouts and star power. Josh Brolin leads a crew of LAPD cops battling Mickey Cohen played by Sean Penn, a ruthless gangster gripping 1940s Los Angeles. The cast is stellar, but the characters are thin. The action is intense, but repetitive. The story itself is fictionalized history, and the violence can feel cartoonish. While entertaining, Gangster Squad struggles to balance style with substance. If you crave a visually flashy shoot-em-up with a big cast, this might be your jam. But for those seeking a deeper gangster story, this might leave you wanting more.
