The heart and soul of the film, Owne and Editor of the quirky magazine, is lost in a blizzard of wordy dialogue and confusing flashbacks. Bill Murray's character is the most interesting part of the film, but unfortunately has the least amount of screen time. When he's on screen, it feels like the movie is back on and uninterrupted.
The film is centered around the Editor of the Dispatch , but sadly he's run-over by the scripts delirious attempt to be hip.
Ironically, the Editor of the magazine is always attempting to keep the articles simple, concise and heartfelt.
If only the movie script had been reviewed by the Editor in Chief of the French Dispatch, this could have been Anderson's greatest film yet.
