Garth Marenghi's Darkplace (2004)
One of the best British comedies in a long time
I honestly look back at all the comedies that have been done recently in the UK and not one of them has had me in complete stitches throughout the entirity of the programme...even half an hour afterwards when thinking about what just happened in an episode. Even know the humour is quite simple, that is what I find the funniest of comedy...and it doesn't try to be anything else. Matt Holness and Richard Ayoade have stuck to writing what they know best and pulled it off brilliantly.
I think that although it is simple humour, the style they've done the programme in is extremely reminiscent of 80's shows and they've parodied it very accuratley, like the quick cheesy zooms, sharp cuts and out of sync dubbing which adds to the overall comedy value excellently.
Overall, I have to say it is, I think, one of my most favourite comedies of all time so far. Watch it if you enjoy films such as Airplane and Naked Gun or if you want to have something that will have you rolling about the floor, laughing for hours.
The St. Francisville Experiment (2000)
crap
i watched this about 2 years ago....and it has a few cheap thrills and thats about it....
the acting is AWFUL....simply crap, especially the psychic lady...i mean christ, i've never seen any acting as over the top and as stupid in my life
i think they just tried to outright copy the blair witch project and cash in on something similar......but they've failed.....dramatically...oh boy, have they failed....
there we go, i've had my rant, if you want to watch a scary film in similar style i recommend the blair witch project or my little eye...both very good films in terms of atmosphere....the complete opposite of this trash...
avoid at all costs OR watch if you want a good laugh at the expense of a 'HORROR' film
