An "Action-Fantasy" genre? There is now!
11 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Having seen the first showing of the first day and leaving the theatre feeling exhausted from the action and upbeat from the ending...knowing chapter 3 should ensue, I felt this movie sets its own bar as Keanu and co. have created the perfect action-fantasy film...somewhat like Pulp Fiction. Perhaps we are left to ponder if the John Wick character is a winner who's going to lose, or a looser who's going to win...regardless, we can't look away and leave wanting more. I don't believe it is necessary to see the first film to get into, and enjoy this offering - which I believe is made firstly, for the big screen, viewing it on TV, later, will dilute the intensity and flavor somewhat. I'm glad I didn't miss out. To me, John Wick Chapter 2 is #1, in a class of it's own!

High-ranking Canadian TV from Top Notch Novel
2 February 2017
As a loyal fan of the Giles Blunt "Cardinal" book series, I can say I was delighted to learn they were headed for the screen. It is always a great concern when one has loved the books that the screened adaptations be faithful - and tho I know it is impossible for every page to be represented, the reader is usually the most critical viewer. That being said, I am happy with the show so far to the point that I am hoping there will be other 6-part TV series to represent the 5 (so far), Giles Blunt, remaining Cardinal books. Many proud Canadian moments for me: great Canadian fiction, represented in great Canadian TV, with many great Canadian actors...Canadian TV has come of age!

...started watching 15 min in - thought it was an enjoyable movie...

Warning: Spoilers
I have to admit checking out many so-called "sit-coms" and not seeing the half hour(s)thru...but this one, I started in the middle, and immediately took a look for another show time to catch the beginning, then, having done so, clicked on series record. So I am well willing to give it a chance hoping it continues in the fresh, realistic, amusing tone that has been set in the pilot. The actors are well chosen with Mr. Meloni doing the story proud. His talent is not legendary for nothing! Now, it is up to the script staff to provide great material and we all will have another bright spot on Thursday nights. We won't just "survive Jack", we will appreciate him!

RE: "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner"
18 November 2013
Personally, I had three favourite episodes in Season One and it turns out that last nite becomes my fourth. I have read comments that dis this "dinner" show, but I always keep in mind what is necessary to generate interest, suspense, romance and move the story forward... I feel that the writer of this episode covered all bases very well. I expected something to pop up re: Tess & J T, after the warm & fuzzy bar scene interaction and have to say I give it my approval! I hope they stay connected. I believe Tess & J T are awesome actor additions to this show. Folks, remember that good drama is conflict and we won't always see the stories unfold as we are comfortable with - what ultimately counts is the final result...let's hope it is to our expectations and not too soon...

the "Home Alone" of bank Robberies...
6 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Just caught this great little flick on cable this evening - I found it unexpectedly entertaining...never a dull moment! The entire cast gives perfect performances and go well together,, like peanut butter and jelly. (pun intended). If you are looking for something a little different that's fast-paced and doesn't waste your time, I believe this offering will do the trick. I am hoping to pick up a copy to share with friends who appreciate comedy at it's best, and count this film in the same class as "Blame it on the Bellboy," re: the humour, plus "Inside Man," in a cheeky sense. I rarely think of a movie as fun, but this one left me with a grin and desire to write this positive review: good stuff!

Inside Man (2006)

Personally, totally satisfied with every aspect of this film....
6 August 2006
Just viewed the DVD at home, alone, tonight and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it as I had been "warned" it was confusing and hard to follow....perhaps, having been told that, I payed more attention. Aside from the usual: great acting, directing, story-line, etc. I wanted to comment that although at first I found the music to be a little overbearing I soon came to appreciate it as an exciting part of the film which somehow reminded me of another action flick but I can't recall which at the moment....perhaps a Harrison Ford film. I disagree with those who felt the F word was overused or unnecessary because in situations like that with supposed characters like that it is inevitable in a New York world. I was glad to see Chris Plummer still in the game - I can't help wishing he were {still} a younger man and had many years ahead to delight us...yet, here's hoping we'll see more of him. Hats off to Spike Lee, as usual!
