The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)
For kids only?
I admit, I enjoyed the books by C.S. Lewis when I was a kid, I guess you can compare the books to today's bestseller Harry Potter in that aspect. Now, 20 years later, I get to see the movies based upon these books that really liked when I was just a kid and I'm disappointed. I don't know if it's because I've grown up and can't seem to identify myself with the characters anymore or because this movie just doesn't do it for me any more. The CGI effects are often pretty good however as are the other visuals, but the characters and story just feel a bit outdated, it seems this movie wants to be like The Lord of the Rings, but those books are so much mature than this (and the movie too for that matter). I thought the first movie was somewhat better, giving it a 6 out of 10, but this movie is just not quite as "good" as the sequel. So, even if you enjoyed the books when you were a kid, or enjoyed the first movie, don't automatically mean you'd enjoy this, I'm afraid. To say the least, I'm a bit disappointed after this movie took ~2½hours of my time.
WALL·E (2008)
Not as good as everyone claims it to be
Since all hype and good critic around Wall-E, I thought it was time to see this Pixar/Disney movie. Said and done, I watched it the other night, and the first 10 minutes were pretty good, Wall-E and Eva are lovable characters, no doubt about it. But after that, it went downhill to become just okay, the "supporting" characters in Wall-E are just so boring and don't have any personality at all, they aren't likable at all really. And the idea of having the main characters only, communicating with each other by their names and body language didn't make my day at least. No, this certainly wasn't as great as the IMDb users wanted it to be. It's definitely not worth an imdbtop250 place, that's for sure. However, it's an okay/good movie and you'll definitely laugh at Wall-E's wonders, but as for the script goes, I found it to be rather weak.
Irene Huss: Tatuerad torso (2007)
Worst Swedish cop movie ever
This has to be the worst Swedish cop movie ever, hands down! It has so many flaws that I don't even know where to begin. Other Swedish cop movies such as Beck and Wallander sure aren't great, but in comparison to this horrible production, they really stand out as great movies.
To begin with, the story is horrible; the writer must have missed some classes and should probably have spoken with real coppers before he wrote the story, cause it gives very little information, and the actors/actresses make up clues kinda, it isn't remotely close to guess like they do, and be right without no mistakes at all. The actors/actresses aren't very good either, mediocre to say the least. The movie just doesn't feel authentic, which has to do with a very poor storyline and the actors/actresses as well. I wouldn't recommend anyone watching this really, because I don't have anything good to say about it.
1/10
Black Sheep (2006)
Can I please vote 0 for this?
This has got to be the worst movie I have ever seen. The first scene is unnecessary, and so are the comments from Experience as well (just the name, jeez). First, when I saw the trailer, I thought it would be a movie that didn't take itself too serious, which could be okay, but when watching the full movie later, it turns out that it really wants to be a serious 'horror' movie, which is just plain pathetic. The acting has to be top 10 worst all genres, I have seen budget zombie movies with better performances for crying out loud, and they are suppose to be like that, this movie isn't. I can't believe that the same workshop who made the special fx for LotR is doing the special fx for this one too, as they are really, really, and I mean really awful, I think anyone could have done a similar job actually. The "mutated" sheep are pretty bad done, and you can easily see that they're mechanics. It would also seem that this movie was the first ever made by the director, it isn't an excuse to why it is so bad, but you could understand WHY it is so horribly bad. How this movie has a rating of 7.0 is beyond me, do people just vote 10 for the fun out of it?
Final words: do yourself a favor and skip this movie at all costs.
EDIT: it seems that you need to live in NZ to enjoy this movie for some reason, since nearly everyone from NZ has given the movie a (way too) high grade. The grade @ IMDb (6.7/10 atm) doesn't do the movie justice, and it will be nice to see more ppl from outside-NZ an opinion/grade of this movie.
Wallander: Mastermind (2005)
Best of the Wallander series?
I've watched all of the Wallander movies available now, and this one was by far the most well done movie. It's the second Wallander movie based on Henning Mankell to be shown in the theaters, and I first I found 'Innan Frosten' to be the best movie (1st one in theaters) but this 'Mastermind' was so exciting and well done, it didn't really feel like watching a Swedish movie, it was a bit more exotic. I'm not going to go in on the movie synopsis too much, but this one takes a few twists that were very welcome, to break that predictable chain we usually see in Swedish action/cop movies. I can recommend it to anyone who wants a good movie to watch on a Friday night, 9/10.
Smala Sussie (2003)
Was this suppose to be good?
Was this movie suppose to be good, or do you have to live in Värmland to appreciate it? 'Cause I found it to be way over hyped on all plans, the only good thing about it, was the actor performance by Kjell Bergqvist.
It has come to my mind that Ulf Malmros is way over credited for his movies, he is definitely not as good as some people portrait him to be.
This movie is NOT for everyone, be sure you live in Värmland or close to it, so you can relate to all the bums who seems to be living there (met a friend where I study, who told me it was really like that where she comes from, Torsby). I don't hope anyone foreigner watches this movie and think the Swedes are such bums as they are portraited as in the movie.
Tjenare kungen (2005)
Possibly the worst Swedish movie of 2005
This must be one of the worst movies from 2005 in Sweden, bad actress/actors, a lousy and very predictable script makes this movie so boring I can't find words. The only good thing I found to be of a positive thing, was the music, which makes you remember the 80's, but other from that, there wasn't anything in it for me.
From 10 minutes in to the movie, you've already figured out how it's going to end. I also mentioned the actresses/actors being bad, I got that feeling where you're pi*sed off at them, thinking, no, that's not how you behaved during that era plus their performances aren't convincing on any plan.
No, this is not a movie I can recommend, you'll find more substance in a Chuck Norris movie than this crap, don't rent/buy this movie!
Serenity (2005)
Worst sci-fi of 2000?
This could very well be the worst sci-fi movie ever made, or at least in this century.
The screenplay is the same old as often seen in sci-fi or action movies, the "bad" guys creates a deadly weapon and it falls into the "wrong" hands. Throw in a savage "race" called the Reavers who feast on living people and bad actors and actress, and you have Serenity in a nut shell. All of the actors/actress aren't bad of course, but you won't see Summer Glau getting a reward for best role, I can guarantee you that. When she is fighting, it doesn't seem like she really means it. This movie has some good potential, but it simply doesn't get there.
* SPOILER * How could Mal get a sword in his stomach and still be able to fight The Operator? He limped a bit, but that was all, he should be laying paralyzed and near his death, I know it's sci-fi, but some realism would be nice? * END OF SPOILER*
Watched it yesterday with a couple of friends, I told them that this movie was listed as one of the top250 movies on IMDb, and that usually means it is watchable and good entertainment, but this movie has proved that you can expect the worst even from IMDb top250 movies, a shame.
Minority Report (2002)
Didn't impress me... much.
I saw this movie with my friends this summer, and when we got out of theater, we all thought that it was a waste of money, the trailers promised so much more than the audience got. But somehow, it had parts which were very interesting, like you cannot rely everything on machines, humans have the possibility to choose their own destiny.
Tom Cruise was actually quite good in this movie, maybe one of his greatest roles ever(?)
I can't really say exactly what I didn't liked about this movie, but maybe it was the plot or the atmosphere, I don't know. The plot was both original and not so original, you have seen most of the things before, but the whole thing about getting arrested before you commit a crime was new to me. And I can't say I'd like a system like that in the future, what would happen if someone was wrongfully accused etc.?
Oh well, some people say they liked this movie, I'd say that you shouldn't just watch the trailers before you see this movie, it's actually nothing really new, but still it's quite interesting to see how Mr. Cruise does his role.
