Waiting Fear (2010)
The Best Yet!
This is Lokean's third commercial film, and their best work so far! Continuing on the arc of Ahriman, they delve deeper into a dark, serious story, resurrecting a long-discarded genre: Suspense Horror.
Instead of going the route of most modern horrormakers, Lokean spares the blood and gore, instead keeping a lingering shadow just outside the realm of normalcy. The terror comes from discovering the unknown, instead of slathering us in the modern horror trends that rely entirely on the visual. This is more cerebral, playing at the need to know something, while also dreading what we might learn.
The performances of Brett Vanderbrook, Jessica Cameron, and John Falzone are impeccable. The editing has improved by leaps and bounds from their last film. Lokean struck gold with this one.
Welcome to Reality (2008)
A triumph!
I came across this piece with the knowledge that this was the company's first attempt at a film.
So my expectations were low.
To say the least, I was very pleasantly surprised! ESPECIALLY for a first time film, this company did a LOT of things right.
The CGI is superb for its caliber, some of the acting was top-notch, and even the stunt choreography was impressive! It does get dialogue-heavy, but that follows the focus of the film. Perhaps a little less talking would be preferable in the future.
This company is off to an EXCELLENT start!
Ahriman (2008)
A noteworthy effort.
I loved the morality play aspect of the piece. It played like a good episode of Tales From The Crypt. The moral of the story has that wise yet nasty bite that makes this type of film work so well.
Since this company is best known for comedic pieces, I was intrigued to find out of they would be able to handle a serious drama.
I was pleased to discover, that indeed they can.
It is apparent this is early work of those involved, paving the way for future projects to come, so any mistakes made are certainly forgivable. No one makes a gem their first time. This evidences they have made great strides since their first endeavor.
This company is off to a good start. Eagerly awaiting what's next.
