Fast-Walking (1982)
Complicated,intriguing intelligent flick with...Kay Lenz
I will freely admit that my initial interest in this movie came from not from reading the book (there was a book?) but from the prospect of seeing the unbelievably attractive Kay Lenz frequently nude. How has she developed since 1973 and "Breezy"? (Very very well!) Nevertheless, the movie offered much more than that.
James Wood is a prison guard and a hustler looking for money where he can make it, and he isn't fussy about how. So when he finds a way to score 50K by springing a (nice guy) black activist, he wants in. But..there is also a plot to kill the black activist and he finds himself involved in that too. Meanwhile, he gets involved with Kay Lenz, the gorgeous wife of his cousin, the con who is the brains behind the plot to kill the activist. This flick has twists, turns, and a surprising ending that you will NOT figure out 'till the last few minutes.
Darn good movie. And Kay Lenz looks terrific! Why didn't Playboy grab her for a 10-page pictorial?
Stripped to Kill (1987)
campy movie, beautiful nude star, humorous dialogue, even a plot
well, one of us is confused. With the right attitude, this is a terrfic movie starring the lovely Kay Lenz. If you liked her in "Breezy", you'll like her as much in this campy romp.
A maniac is killing strippers at a club..and the strippers won't talk to the cops. There is only one answer. The beauteous Detective Cody has to go undercover. Her partner talks her into entering an amateur contest. The winner ,as measured by an applause meter, get a full-time job .She does so,and then says to her partner, "But what if I don't win the applause meter?" "Sure you will " says her partner."All the guys will be there!"
The audience packed with hooting cops, Detective Cody is hesitant at first, but loosens and bring it all home. The problem is that she is a gorgeous woman, but not a great stripper. But she works hard, watches others, practices, and learns from the other girls. Soon she is a star, and liking it more and more. She is..liberated! (hey,it could happen. right?)At one point, the cops think they've nailed the guy and she is pulled off the case..but she refuses to quit! Dedication to justice is a praiseworthy quality. When to see her final show, you will agree!
This is a movie with good music, lots of stripping, some humor, a plot, and Kay Lenz (and friends)with no clothes on frequently. I'm ready for a sequel! Recommended...
Breezy (1973)
A terrific love story! Acting, cast, plot, humor..
All right. it's ,ahem, inter-generational love, but all the sweeter for being ultimately doomed..maybe.
Frank is burned out. He's had all the woman and success he wants, and he's at the "what's it all about?" stage. Nothing touches him. He's seen it all..
And then...Breezy! This bright beautiful happy hippy chick flows into his acerbic world. He fights it. He ain't interested. He sends her away. He tries to ditch her. He knows it's wrong. But...
Kay Lenz is beautiful. And nude. Frequently. That's a heck of a fine combination, but her sunny disposition and William Holden's burnt-out sardonic adultness just strikes sparks together you won't see often in a movie. Maybe not a movie to watch with your jealous aging wife, but a fine amusing bittersweet and humorous flick of an unusual love affair with two excellent stars. You won't forget Breezy..
The Ghost and the Darkness (1996)
Spectacular movie! Great acting, tense drama, beautiful scenery
One of the best movies around! Classic true story of a race to build a bridge across a gorge to East Africa at the turn of the century..and then..
Kilmer and Douglas are outstanding. Well shot, lovely country. Not much romance, but this movie will be appreciated by men, women or kids (but perhaps not little ones, as it's intense at times).
A heroic story.. You won't go wrong.
Road House (1989)
Outstanding Western via martial arts! Fast gun cleans up the town.
This is a great western! The town too tough to tame..the fast gun hired to clean up the town, and make it a decent place. The outlaw gang strikes back! The sidekick is called in to help. Fast gun finds love, but she knows he can't win, and wants to run away with him to save him. But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
"High Noon" as an American martial arts movie..
Flashdance (1983)
A sparkly fun movie about accomplishment and striving
No movie can sparkle if you don't! Dull serious people may not care for this movie of a lovely young woman driven to accomplish, despite hardships and heartbreak. But good music, good chemistry between the romantic co-stars, great dancing, an optimistic tone, make this a gem. "Rocky" with a dance motif and female star. Unless you're irretrievably burdened by life or just don't like good-looking women who achieve, you'll be cheered by this fine romantic flick.
