Raffa (2023)
Where is Adriano Celentano
I just finished watching the mini series on Disney + about a figure that I remember throughout my childhood. I remember Rafaella Carra always on the tv during the weekends with her amazing dancing figures. The documentary reveals her life and success on a much more grandiose scale, and as such it has done a fairly good job. I was especially very surprised bu her time in Spain, and her tours across Latin America. However, the film misses a very important figure, which is Adriano Celentano. I always remember Rafaella Carra with her show with Adriano Celentano, and I was always under the impression that they were a duo. In this film, there is no mention of Adriano Celentano, as if he doesnt exist. There wasnt even a single frame of their joint shows. I find this a major odd in this film, not serving as a good documentary function as such.
Sahmaran (2023)
Starts great, but ending still remains open
This mini series is absolutely full of world class film making elements....a historical myth based suspense building, the acting, less but meaningful dialogue, the visuals, soundtrack, all adds up to a world class film making experience. Hats off to the director and the crew. The actor for the Maran character reminds me of 2 old actors: one being a famous Turkish actor, namely Fikret Hakan. Burak Deniz reminded me off F. Hakan's youth. The other one is a well-known Italian actor, Gian Maria Volonte. The actress who plays Shasu also grows well beyond her 1st serious role experience. All the cast delivers a superb performance. The suspense build-up was done nicely, however, the final 8th episode ends with lots of questions unanswered. I think that is a negative side on the scenario writer such that all that build up deserves more explanations or revelations, which seem to be missing. I am an avid film afficionado, always curious to discover new elements, genres, actors etc. I find this series very gripping, fluent, but all those gripping elements you put into the storyline brings an extra burden on the scenario writer to bring an ending that should bring all those suspense elements come down to the audience's world with some type of explanations. In this series, some characters unfortunately remain in the air, some plots not seeing their resolutions. That is why my rating stayed at the 8th level. However, it is definitey worth watching.
Django Unchained (2012)
total waste and terrible exploitation of the genre
One can not stand without wondering as to how on earth someone can spend so much money with so great actors in the middle of a huge financial crisis all around the world. Except Samuel Jackson's great acting, there is nothing but a total carnage in this film. One crazy lunatic comes along, spends a huge budget, uses great names, like Morricone, and all the actors, and come up with a total waste of resources. I guess this film shows the level of mess Tarantino is at his film making ability. He totally messed up the entire Django and spaghetti western related themes, ruined the memories we had about these films.
I just don't know where to begin in criticizing this film. The storyline flow, meaninglessly long but nonsense dialogues, exuberantly extended gory blood scenes, and on and on. As I kept saying, Tarantino has been on a downward slope in his career since Jacky Brown, and this film is probably lower than the bottom side. I think, or, if I were in level of authority in Hollywood, I would have banned Tarantino in making any film without going thru some treatment of some kind. I am having serious problem in understanding how on earth studio execs would fund such a carnage. I guess, this would be the last time I go and watch any Tarantino movie anymore. The level of mess in the film is beyond any explanation. If any person would do what Tarantino does in his business, he probably would be taken directly into jail by the account of misusing the company resources. What Hitler has done to the world is nothing compared to what Tarantino did to the world of spaghetti western genre. It is also bewildering to see such names like Morricone putting his name to this carnage. Despite the fact that I am a huge fan of Spaghetti Westerns, I fell asleep three times during the film. Such a huge failure beyond any explanation. I hope Tarantino stops fiddling with old films, and leave us alone with our good old memories. It is almost as disrespectful as pissing on your grand father's grave. I think people like Franco Nero should have rightly gone crazy to see how his main film was exploited so badly, and people like Sergio Corbucci would have turned twice in his grave seeing this carnage.
I suggest don't even waste your time in considering this film. World deserves much better films than this.
