Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
Great entertaining film, nostalgic 80's feel, funny and a rollercoaster!
I didn't think I would like this as I'm not the biggest fan of the Rock (only because he sin so much) but all the actors are cast really well and very funny. There's definitely a nostalgic 80's feel to this movie as well as modern take which appeals to all. The action was great and comedy was unexpected. If you love a great rollercoaster of action, comedy and nostalgia you will love this. I must admit the Rock was very good as well as Jack Black (stole some of the show).
Arrow (2012)
Great show with a "Lost" meets "Batman" meets "Smallville"
I was never keen on the poster and the Green Arrow wasn't high in my hero list but I must admit I was gripped by this show with it's premise and it built up nicely with characters and plot revolving around a few central stories. It was nice to fresh faces in the cast and not full of plastic actors. There definitely was a good mix of twists and turns in the plot and I really like the flash backs. Each episode holds on it's own as well as revolving around a central theme. This paves the way for other hero shows and look forward to series two. I would like to see more of a cross over with other DC characters to open up new shows as well as pave a way for the justice league.
Carjacked (2011)
Enjoyable thrill ride with a human side!
Firstly I am surprised that this became a BLU release and not a theatrical release.
Regardless that my music plays at the start of the closing credits I approached this film with an open mind and some caution.
That said I was pleasantly surprised and impressed both by Mario Bellos down to earth performance and believability as well as Stephen Dorffs villain.
Unlike most movies of this genre which are more action and less script.
I felt there was a nice balance and interaction between Bello and Dorff that keep the film alive and interesting.
Yes there where some clichés, but it is a thriller and we love to hate those moments.
All in all it's a nicely shot film with realism and has a great contemporary composer on board (not me) and you really feel for the characters and their dilemma.
A great supporting cast and executed well. A good date night movie!
