A Ghost Story (2017)
Why? Just Why?
The question "why" is applied to both the movie and the glowing reviews. I like a good love story AND a good ghost story but this was neither. I wasn't looking for a horror story, but I did think I might get a good love/life story. It starts very slow and continues that way. The only true emotion I saw in this movie was when the wife eats a pie after his death and the frustration the ghost feels when he goes poltergeist for the one time in the movie. There are a few poignant moments here and there, shown through some very artistic scenes, meant to bring a sense of melancholy but those are few. Other than that it leaves you wanting. Specifically at the end. No satisfactory resolution. The least they could have done was let us see the message. Was the message so loving he had no choice but to move on or was it so disappointing that he left like the other ghost in the neighboring house. I'm sure is the intention to leave you wondering but still... Very disappointed.
The Parades (2024)
An intriguing look at the life after.
This movie is excellent and gives an interesting perspective into the life after death genre. Heartfelt and well done in all respects. I loved the ending and think it is well worth the time. Michihito Fuji did a wonderful job writing and directing this feature. I look forward to seeing his other movies. The actors in this film did an awesome job. The music was just as fantastic. If you get the chance please watch. Get your popcorn and candy ready and if you've a tendency for tear jerkers you might need some tissues as well. Just sit back and enjoy. This movie is definitely a ten out of ten and would watch again.
Moxie (2021)
Excellent movie.
I watched this thinking it was just going to be another teen angst movie but was I wrong! Excellent movie for showing how women feel about their treatment in society and how so many people just shrug off our feelings and concerns. This is a movie everyone should see and share. Amy Poehler did an excellent job directing this with an excellent cast! This definitely sends the right message. I wish there were more like this. Education in entertainment. I loved it so much I had to watch it again and I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. "We've got claws and we're not afraid to use them." Good line.
