Awakenings (1990)

Tearjerker

Besides when I was a child, I never actually cried during a movie. I've felt the urge to cry during some of them or had tears forming in my eyes, but they never really came out. Before I viewed "Awakenings," "Schindler's List" was the closest one to making me cry. Now, "Awakenings" has done it.

Another great thing about "Awakenings," is that it truly teaches us to appreciate the simple things in life that we take for granted, from taking a walk by yourself or reading a book or even just brushing your teeth.

I don't care what anyone says, both Robin Williams' and Robert DeNiro's performances were excellent and touching. I found this more touching then "Patch Adams." (But I guess "Patch Adams" is more of a Comedy/drama).

Give this great film a try. Grab the Kleenexs during Robert De Niro's first dance.

Of Mice and Men (1992)

Incredible....and Malkovich was PERFECT

A wonderful adaptation of Steinbeck's classic. Gary Sinese is wonderful as George and as director of the film. John Malkovich, who is one of my favorite actors, never lets me down. People complain about his portrayal of Lennie, because he makes Lennie seem like a person with down syndrome? What do you expect him to do? Bang his hand against his chest while letting his tongue to hang out? To me, Malkovich WAS Lennie. Everything about this film was perfect. All the actors were magnificent. Kudos to Sinese for direction, and of course Malkovich for his superb acting.

Billy Joel: Greatest Hits Volume III (1997 Video)

I've been a fan of Mr. Joel for quite sometime. Since I was about six, I believe. I'm sixteen now and he hasn't failed me yet.

This is a great collection of his videos (along with "The Essential") and with Billy himself commenting and discussing his songs and videos.

I give this and my dream husband Billy a 10/10.

P.S. Billy, come back to Philly or New York! Must see you and Elton again! =D

Reservoir Dogs (1992)

Bark or bite?

I'm a fan of Steve Buscemi, so I decided to try this film out. Also heard a lot of great things about it.

I did find this movie very good, not to mention very bloody. I felt horrible for the poor LAPD cop. Good cast and acting and good storyline. The ending though was just...eh. But then again, what other ending can you come up with?

Overall, I give it a 9/10, due to the ending.

Ghost World (2001)

Added To One Of My All-Time Favorite Movie List

I heard about this film before but never seen it. I finally saw it on TV awhile ago and I was blown away. I couldn't believe I hadn't seen this movie earlier.

Story: High school graduates Enid (Thora Birch) and Rebecca (Scarlett Johannssen) are best friends, but are the complete opposites. Enid is an artistic, cynical girl who doesn't know what to do with her life. Rebecca is the "normal" girl who wants to get an apartment and job and live a "normal" life. While looking for an apartment, the girl's days consist of messing around with their secret crush Josh (Brad Renfro), passing by a mysterious man named Norman who waits at a bus stop that was shut down two years ago, and then on one particular day, play a prank on an eccentric loner named Seymour (Steve Buscemi). Afterwards, Rebecca is the main one looking for an apartment. Enid is drawn to Seymour and befriends him and even tries to be his match-maker. But the girl's friendships become more and more distant as Enid and Seymour become more and more closer.

I love this movie. My favorite characters are Enid (who I almost look like with my glasses), Doug (awesome mullet dude who was also in a Red Hot Chili Pepper's video) and of course, Seymour. Steve Buscemi was perfect for him. He's also become of my favorite actors.

This is not an average teen movie. I'm quite proud that it got on IMDB's Top 250.

I give Ghost World a 10/10.
