Die Fighting (2014)
Cliché story, bad acting, and good but copied choreography.
I watched this because i am a fan of martial arts, films, and thus martial arts film choreography.
The Good : martial scenes are energetic, fast, well executed, with an occasional variation of a move we have seen before.
The Bad : The acting is really bad. At first i don't mind because i thought these were just ordinary stunt men and not actors, so it was interesting to see how they react if they get entangled in a situation like the one they are in. But then you can't bear with it for long. It is really bad acting. And afterwards i realized the film premise is that they ARE actors in the film. So it's even worse.
Another bad thing is some dialogue which is super cliché.
Also, the choreography is also copy-paste from other films and actors like Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Sammo Hung, etc, who did all this decades ago. No originality. Pity.
You can fast forward to check the fight scenes, and even then you will not be impressed if you have watched good martial arts films in the past.
Knights of Bloodsteel (2009)
Utterly hopeless !
For any sci-fi or fantasy fan, or any good TV series or Film for that matter, this pilot will seem cliché, repetitive,unimaginative,un-insipiring,poorly directed and poorly executed. Continuity is absent, the characters are as superficial and un-involving as they can be. Even Christopher Loyd's performance was nothing like his usual level. Total waste of money, time, and effort. The script was the main cause of all of this, and the direction finished the job and sealed it's fate. The audience doesn't relate to the characters, nor does it care what happens to them. The actors were not helping out at all with their performance.
Sicko (2007)
A softer Moore, but a more efficient one.
For those of you that seem to get "stuck" on HOW Moore chooses to pass a message to viewers, and thus mainly missing the message itself....you will find this film more to your liking. Moore here is more substance and documentary, than what some people would call "Rambo revolutionary". The documentary examines the US Health system, and then indirectly compares it to Canada's, France's and other countries. The differences are obvious. In the U.S if you cant pay the huge amounts of money required, you get no help. In these other countries, exactly the opposite. You pay nothing. And if you think you are left with no money, because of taxes, you're wrong. The sad thing is, that countries with much less development and resources can offer a better overall health system. It IS true that you can judge a people from how it treats, it's most unfortunate citizens. The conclusions are indisputable. The only thing i was hoping for, was some more heat on Pharmaceutical companies (major heat is on Insurance ones). Maybe in Sicko 2 , or the extras. A MUST see!
Stupidity (2003)
Not as it should be...but a MUST-see nonetheless !
The title pretty much says it all. People really should watch this. I don't care if the budget was small, and the video and sound quality is not Hollywood level. The content is what matters. And the content is good here. I voted 8/10 because it really needed to insist on some subjects, and not mention them and move on so quickly. Also i would like a bit more info, interviews, etc. The music was great by the way. So was the narration. I liked the comments from various famous people, like Noam Chomsky, Joel Shumacher, Michael Moore, John Cleese. also i liked the choice of people inteviewed. TV producers, journalists, authors and others.
Fahrenhype 9/11 (2004)
Pity it wasn't serious work...
Just watched this, full of anxiety to see if things "are not as they were presented by Moore" or not.
Instead , i see a bunch of people talking, no proof, and more Moore-bashing ,than Bush-supporting (which should make you think).
I've read some of the "lies" on the internet about Moore's film, and i've read tha facts on Moore's site. And honestly, Moore provides far more support and credibility to his words. Just go check it out.
Also , what bothers me a lot, is that people are missing the point. In many levels. The point I got from Moore's film was that it is highly probable that powerful men are constructing bigger lies than what i though ! The point wasn't if, the damn plane full of Saudis left on 14th or 13th !
Also,I didn't perceive ANY disrespect towards soldiers from Moore's film, like this film attempts to convince. The disrespect was towards the people who sent the young men to such wars.
I'm not republican and i'm not democrat. I'm a person who thinks and filters what he hears.
Its not easy to know what really happened and what not. But for sure, a government that has upset the whole globe, cannot be believed just because "there' republicans". And neither can the media controlled by them.
Just keep an open mind, read all you can, THEN form an opinion.
Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004)
Intentionally biased powerful documentary
Moore does it again. Sure, he doesn't offer both sides of the story, and he doesn't prove each and every finding or conclusion he mentions. But i get the feeling the film's purpose is not so much as to convince people that things went exactly as he describes. The film's purpose seems to be, to MAKE people THINK more and think BETTER. Even if half of what he describes is true, it really means that the American people (and everyone to an extent) have been fooled for years. And it has been EASY, because no one gets informed.Moore wants to change that, and he already has changed people, with his films and TV series. Fahrenheit 9/11 is just the next step. And it is a good one.
Gothika (2003)
Sufficiently scary and entertaining.
If you're a thriller fan, you better watch it. It's no breakthrough in originality, but it works. Berry even looks scary by herself thanks to makeup, face expression and lighting. There are 3-4 points where you will jump out of your chair, grab someone or feel something through your spine ! The director did a nice job creating a dark (seriously, lots of dimly lit scenes.....creepy) and claustrophobic enviroment, in which the main character is trapped....in 2 ways. The music was good too, not just the basic sounds and single notes, but a couple of nice themes as well. The story itself is not bad, but like i said in the begining , nothing special. Berry acts fine, and i also liked Penelope Cruz and Bernard Hill (Theoden in the Lord Of The Rings parts 2 and 3). I think it deserves a little more than 5 out of 10...
