Great

A great piece of work, the men responsible for the movie chose the right attitude by using the angle of comedy, cause that's the only way to make a sports movie, a sports event can never be moved to the screen succesfully (except maybe Chariots of Fire) in a realistic way since the whole idea of it is that you don't have clue who's going to win until it's all over.

Although I'm not from the UK I did get most of the jokes since I follow footie a lot and am a big fan of the game.

a big thumbs up for the crew and actors, "Mike Bassett" is simply brilliant.

stuff of dreams

What an inspiring movie for both kids and adults alike, you'd think that this sort of movies have been made over and over again. You're wrong, "Jimmy Grimble" is beyond the sugar coated disney type of yarns.

It's grim, sad, fun and full of joy all at once, but not superficial.

I think this film is a real boost for all of us to stop doubting ourselves and go do what ever we enjoy and be the best we can.

Extra points for the scriptwriters for including Man City as an integral part of the movie, the Blues are as genuine as the movie.

unsavory

This movie is probably the worst one I've ever seen, the plot is something that even Ed Wood couldn't have concocted, unbelievable, gratuitous violence and gore. I'm surprised that Clooney's career survived this bomb.

a WW2 "whodunnit" which slows down after an ok start
11 February 2003
The movie is set in Austria just after WW2, the driver and friend of a British officer of the occupation force is murdered and this incident leads to a new conflict between the winners and the losers..

In my opinion this movie was okay, it has an experienced cast (mainly german speaking veteran actors like Mario Adorf and Wolfgang Preiss) who try their best in a mediocre script, Anthony Andrews looks a bit lost a few times though.

One of the more brighter performances is by Helmut Griem, who is very good as the manic police officer.

I give this film ** out of *****
