Jack Reacher (2012)
Very good suspense and actions
I will rate 9 in almost every department except story. Story has nothing new but the script and characters catches the attention. Good car chase scenes and excellent fight scenes. Effort in the writing department and shooting the scenes makes the movie a must watch.
I liked the presentation of the film, the first scene is very catchy and makes you sit on the edge of your chair. It was good that movie doesn't takes too much in the background story of Jack and it revolves around the present situation. There are some clever tricks used by Jack in order to escape police and also during the climax scene which doesn't looks unreal.
The course of entire movie looks very real and that what makes this movie very good to watch.
The Woman in Black (2012)
Real horror - Good to watch
In one line if i say, i don't really like Hollywood horrors as they I feel they loose the realty connect at times and that's why they becomes imaginary situations. But if some one can create horror when it comes to touching to something which can happen in actual... in real... it can really freeze one's nerves.
This movie is about a young advocate discovering spirits or shadows and really try to help the spirit to get whatever it wants. Really ending up what he wants - its still debatable.
Overall I liked the movie. Its not just any horror movie. Its bit slow but catches up one's attention till end once it take pace.
Ra.One (2011)
Spoiled my day - RA.ONE.
Complete disaster movie.
Surprised to see people rating 10/10 on IMDb, where serious cinema lovers use to comment.
Well, movie starts with common overacted scenes by SRK. Creates confusion of it being children movie or adult movie with non-veg non-funny jokes. Ends up with more confusion & flaw full action scenes.
I did not heard SRK taking any serious action training for this movie & got my answer. Action is like another well choreographed item song.
Watch this for Arjun Rampal, who seems to be the only person who did justice to what is expected out of a big budget action movie.
Rascals (2011)
I got tickets for cheap and I feel I wasted that money too.
3 starts to Kangana, Ajay and refreshing Arjun Rampal.
I want to start with praise to Arjun who has don a seriously good role and looking apart in the movie. Rest of the movie is full of crap, vulgar and cheap comic shots, which I don't know which category of people like.
I could not believe David Dhawan, who was the reason for me to agree for this movie. He use to make sense earlier, till interval, you will wonder where is the movie going to?? What they want?? and What is going to happen next?? Just vulgar and cheap shots one after another.
I would not recommend this movie.
Regards
Karthik Calling Karthik (2010)
Watch it for Farhan, Farhan and Farhan
Title said enough about the protagonist so I am coming to others things. Story looks inspired from 'Fight club' (Brad Pitt, Edward Norton) of a mentally ill guy whose sub-conscious mind tries to control him, but the movie takes this idea one step ahead. During the first part I was sure about the ending but in middle I really got caught in the suspense and didn't have any clue about the climax. The script writer/ director has done a brilliant effort making no flaws which normally Hindi suspense movies are full of. Movie starts smoothly, with brilliant acting skills shown by Farhan Akhtar. As film progresses, it starts attracting more. Even if you have seen Fight Club and have an idea about the problem, you will also feel the suspense for at least an hour after intermission. So I will suggest you to watch it so as to cheer the new wave Hindi film industry is going into.
3 Idiots (2009)
Numero uno idiots!
Direction - outstanding, Script - excellent, Dialogues - Well written, Acting - 10 out of 10, Comedy - mind blowing, Emotions - great, Message - too good, (specially for Indian parents) Whatever else you find left out, add full marks from my side. Rajkumar Hirani's earlier movies - Munna Bhai series, were all exapmles well crafted arts. Which answers all the question about his caliber. I have also heard that script of Lage Raho being added to Academy's Library of scripts. By this movies he proves yet again what he can create. He is simply among one of the best directors present in the country today. RajKumar Hirani + Aamir Khan, upon a Chetan Bhagat's best selling novel and you will find - 3 idiots!. I loved the message most as it matches with the need for today. I remember myself being imposed the dream of becoming an engineer. It beautifully captures the emotions of such students and the pressure because of their family. Dialogues has simple words but at the same time well thought out ones and one of the few i loved was from the suicide scene - "I Quit" - least use of words and maximum results.
One of Aamir's best ever!!
A MUST WATCH FOR EVERYONE.
Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009)
Rocket Ranbir!!!
Ranbir Kapoor has truly taken the Kapoor legacy forward today. He is exceptional as a young sardar guy. The movie is as great as its script, story and dialogs. The movie captures the ethical dilemma of a young entrant entering the corrupt world of selling. The protagonist takes the lead out of the compromiser of values and creates his own organization with ethics and values. He shows that for your long term sustainability one must be honest with his work and people he is working with. The dialogs were well written by Mr. Sahni. One of my favorites is "do business but don't become businessman". Some might not like it not being like a typical bollywood movie with naach-gaana and melodrama but still it has something for everyone - a great lesson - don't be hypocrite.
American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009)
not up to AP level
This edition of American Pie (AP) is not what earlier AP series movies were like. It lacked the fun part of a school goer and the humor of the earlier ones (Beta house and Naked Mile). It was like just another teen movies having a good morale in the end. The role of Stiffler was also not as strong as earlier. He is a kind of bad image boy which one teenager should not like to be. I am a fan of Beta House and Naked Mile, therefore i compared this with them and I am sure there must be several other fans of AP series who would be disappointed with the latest version. The movie looks good in the trailer only and most of the good part of movie has been disclosed in trailers only.
The Descent (2005)
Just another "trying to be" scary movie
Movie doesn't have zombies but the plot is similar. Nothing new for those who have seen movies like 'The Hills have eyes'. Hard core lover of this kind of movies will like to watch this movie. But for mine like looking for some creative stuff, there is nothing much more new than the background plot of the caves and of course, six girls. As far as story is concerned, one would not find any clue why all the mess is happening and who are these creatures. In between there are clues from where you can think that now a story is being woven, but that doesn't happen and suddenly you find picture getting over. Perhaps producers wanted to cash movie from a specific target audience.
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009)
A refreshing comedy
Past few years has seen ab bunch of mindless, brainless, scriptless, storyless comedies. Except than few beautifully crafted movies like Hera pheri and No entry, Azab Prem Ki.. could be marked as out and out comedy of this era. Rajkumar Santoshi has brought back the charm of Aamir Khan and Salman Khan in Andaaz Apna Apna, as Ranbir Kapoor as Prem in APKGK. Katrina's character was lovable and i could not think any one else for that role. Upen was seen after a long time but was overshadowed by Ranbir's. Jokes and punches reminded me of Andaaz apna apna, but were refreshing. I could not found any cliché except the last fighting scene but that was also mixed with new flavors.
Manorama: Six Feet Under (2007)
a must watch suspense
Before watching Manorama, i considered Johnny Gaddar as best scripted suspense movie of modern times, but Manorama is far above from Johnny. The best thing is that the storyline looks real and on the level of a common person. It is not like a typical Hindi Cinema (bollywood) suspense movie with the protagonist playing a hero. I gave 9 because i felt detached in middle of the movie but approaching to the end, it captures attention and the climax is well written. I'll curse myself for not watching it for so long even after i heard its praise from my friends. Abhay Deol looks good as a Middle class Rajasthani and so as Gul Panag. Vinay Pathak is exceptional as usual.
