Okay, it didn't win any awards, but it IS funny! Jack Weston is a hoot. Do yourself a favor and watch this. It is just brainless fun!

Very Underrated Film

This funny movie is just plain fun...!!! The thirty year old Shirley McLaine is a hoot..!! Peter Ustinov has a ball with his role as the king. You should know this movie is a farce; it is not great art, but for some fun, I suggest you watch this movie. If you do watch it and like it...consider it my gift to you.

This is very underrated movie! My cable company gave it only one Star out of five. The IMDb is only 6.2 stars out of ten.
The acting is actually quite good. Maureen Stapleton is a hoot! Michael Keaton does a good job.
This is not a serious,. dramatic movie. It is satire and as sub is excellently done!
Just sit back and enjoy. Is is a fun movie!
On an enjoyment scale this is 9. Okay, so it is not The Godfather, few are on that level. Pop a big bowl of popcorn, get some cold soda and then get ready for a great movie fargen movie night!

Masterful direction and cinematography...!!!! It was watching a series of wonderful black and white photographs taken by a skilled professional photographer. This movie is a joy to watch and enjoy.
The actors, most of them unknowns at the time, are excellent. It is so well dome it is like watching a documentary. The hand-held camera work helps give you this feeling.
The story, basically a true story about an uncle of Elia Kazan and his efforts to get to America, is riveting. The characters seem real because they are real. It will hold your attention. SEE IT..!!!! You won't be sorry.

Exciting, but.....

Yes, it's a thriller. Exciting. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. But, come on now; didn't the producers have enough cash to hire a competent technical adviser. It was based on a true story, but GREAT artistic license was taken. Watch it for fun, not to learn about railroads. Denzel is good, as usual. he is very good at playing a "Denzel Washington" type character. And Ms. Dawson was outstanding. Mr. Pine was okay. Enjoy the thrill ride and the outstanding photography. And don't forget the popcorn. The kids will like it. Go read the real story of what happened. It is exciting also. You can look it up in Wikipedia at "CSX 8888 incident".
