Shôgun (2024)
Episode 8 just killed it for me!
I don't know what else to say.. everything has been said in so many ways by other reviewers about the show. One thing I wouldn't make a point about and that is the true grit and resolve shown bu the actors and their utmost conviction to playing their part right. Everyone in episode 8 performed so well. After last episode 7 ending, i was totally convinced what path would it take but then it took an unthinkable turn. I am so impressed by the production and I wish this could go on and on at least one or two more seasons but I think this is enough. I hope people outside Hulu get to see this mini series (soon).
Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
Masterpiece!
Unfamiliar with Osage and other related issues, I truly felt the film, story, screenplay, sound, acting and direction were masterclass. Cannot be denied that it is year's best film and probably one of the best ever. Three plus hours and didn't feel at all dragged. So compelling .. the only issue I felt a couple of times was related to editing/cuts. Otherwise, I felt it took me to that period of history. Brilliant filmmaking; all actors were so good. The last 5-10 mins of stage narration was something I had never seen before.
Overall, I a great moviegoer experience. Looking forward to upcoming works of Scorcese.
Guns & Gulaabs (2023)
I loved it. Well executed.
Not sure what the reviewers are complaining about. The series is well done. Every characters is well defined, with arcs and the dichotomy they grapple with is excellently portrayed. Yes, some of the plot points didn't seem particularly interesting and perhaps could have been edited but I think they left me curious.
Halfway thru the series, I felt invested. Didn't see any dull moments. All in all great fun ride with cool performances. Hates off to Satish-ji. He will be missed dearly. Great performance by a true champion and veteran of India cinema. I'll always cherish my random encounter with him at India Habitat Centre's all American Diner in New Delhi.
The Witcher: The Cost of Chaos (2023)
Disappointed!
Very anticlimactic final episode of the season. Just felt going downhill with ramped up melodrama, rebuilding things towards sort of change in regime; handing the batten, prepping new character introductions for the next season. Nothing much happened to be honest in these 8 episodes. Main character is being searched etc etc. Overall didn't see anything built up to look forward to in the next season.
With Geralt character change who knows how'd play out. Too many unknowns. Seem extremely hotchpotch at the moment. As a fan I am sure I will wait for it and will watch it no matter what. But certainly not excited anymore.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
It'd be okay to ignore the critics for this one!!
Just wanted to say that, the critics are so unfair towards the movie and the all hard work that went into making it. It's one of best done Potter-world movies in my view.
Minnal Murali (2021)
Hands-down one of the best superhero movies in 2021!!
Best story
Best cinematography
Few acting hiccups but great overall performances.
Best CGI (for the budget)
I wish to see this story expand and budget scaled up.
Ted Lasso: Make Rebecca Great Again (2020)
Turning tides!!
Yes, it was a perfect episode.
I love Nick Mohammed's character.
The Irishman (2019)
An epitome of motion picture.
Power is a person doesn't necessarily come from action. Mere words are enough to do the deed. Man, both Joe Pesci and Al's characters portrayed it so well. And of course De Niro at the center of it all. What a masterpiece!!
Game of Thrones: Winterfell (2019)
What a start to the end!!
Best line .. "waiting, for an old friend".
Very well thought of season's first episode, with the procession and ending with the same two faces looking at each other as was in the season one's first episode. Superb!
Sacred Games (2018)
Oh boy!! How do I say this!!
What a show!!
Such rivetting adaptation. What performances!!
Nawaz and Kubra Sait killed it.
I just couldn't stop watching. I hope Netflix presents us with the rest three-quarter of the book.
Sanju (2018)
It's a one-time watch!
First half was alright.
Needless defense mode transition in the second half felt made up. If at all those denfenses were true, very few people in India cared about them. I believe no one asked for any justifications. Glorifying Sanjay Dutt (who is anyway popular) didn't resonate at all.
Like all RHF films, contextualizing the subtle message bit felt made up.
Black Panther (2018)
They sold me a hi-techie Lion King. Period.
The only thing I liked about this movie is it's background score. Everything else about this is an expensive repackaging. Nothing more.
Yes, yes, the whole Africa angle is cool, but what's with S.Korea and Marvel. I don't get it.
