You Belong to Me (2002)
Really cheesy adaptation of Mary Higgins -Clark book
My wife and I are suckers for a good true-crime, thriller
& or "who-done-it", so when she picked this from Amazon Prime for us to watch, I was game.
As much as we love a good crime drama, I quickly realized that this was nothing like a good crime drama.
The acting and directing was awkward and cheesy. It was like watching an 80s episode of Murder She Wrote.
The Chosen (2017)
The life of Christ & His Disciples as you've never seen them before
There have been many movies down through the years about the life if Christ. Some great, some not so much. Christian films are not known for the quality of the production or the depth of character development. But make no mistake, "The Chosen" sets the standard by which all Christian films should be judged.
The creators of The Chosen took the time to develop each character in a way that we find so totally real, so relatable, so authentic. We see their flaws of the Disciples as they squabble amongst themselves & fight their own personal demons & and a Christ who smiles and gently & lovingly guides them as they try to understand their Master.
The dialogue is brilliantly written and allows us to see each character in their humanity, their struggles, their amazement as they come to realize that this man, this Jesus is the Messiah who has come not as a military leader to establish his kingdom, but as a gentle, humble servant/teacher.
The richness of the characters, the cultural background the settings will captivate you and draw you in. It will engage you from the very first scene. It will make you smile and laugh out loud. It will also bring you to tears as you witness the transformation of those whose lives He touches.
A gem like this is a very rare find in a film industry that has made glorifying violence, lewdness in all its forms, drug use, and exploitation of women the primary tools of its trade.
This fact makes The Chosen shine all the more brightly. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Lies & Illusions (2009)
Pathetic waste of talented actors
Hard to believe that good actors like Christian Slater and Cuba Gooding actually agreed to be in this loser after reading the script. The only thing about this film that is worse than the script is the lousy attempt at directing, horrible camera work and even worse music score. The music score in this film sounds like a throwback from an old James Bond film and none of it matches up with the action in the film.
The cinematography and editing is so pathetically amateur that I could have done a better job with a hand-held camcorder and editing the film on my home PC.
This film is so bad that it's actually found myself laughing at the awful dialog, and lousy directing.
