The Importance of Being Earnest (2002)
The twists of Earnestness
It all begins when Jack Werthing (Firth) falls in love with a girl from the city, Gwendolen, while under the assumed name of Earnest. However, Gwendolens mother, Lady Bracknell, portrayed by Judi Dench, proves very forbidding. Meanwhile, Jack's friend Algernon, or Algy, (Everet) finds out about his misnomer and also about his young ward, Cecily (Witherspoon),who lives back at his country home. This begins an intense name game which twists the characters around until, finally they all have to be confronted by who they really are. This smooth running adaptation of Oscar Wilde's play, is a very witty and comedic movie. It is definitely a flick which all would enjoy to see.
Dreamcatcher (2003)
what dreams???
I am a pretty versatile movie watcher, and i am willing to give any movie the benefit of the doubt... but this movie was ridiculous! It was interesting, almost riveting, for maybe a half hour. But as any hitchcock fan will tell you, everything is scarier if you don't know exactly what it is your afraid of! They "let the cat out of the bag" far too early, and the rest of the movie dragged; there was no more suspense! My advice to all of you is to avoid the film at all costs. If you know someone that has seen it, do yourself a favor, and let them talk you out of seeing it. The one redeeming factor is seeing Jason Lee in a role different from his typical Kevin Smith Film roles (not that they're not good too!)
...and that's about all i have to say! Thanks for letting me vent:-)!
Muppet Video: Rowlf's Rhapsodies with the Muppets (1985)
what a flashback!!!
I used to watch this movie all the time when I was younger, back when it came out in the 80's. I haven't thought about it for years! The movie is a lot of fun, a collection of songs (including "The Witch Doctor" and "Your Always Welcome At Our House") performed by all of the wonderful muppets. However, as much as I love(d) this film, it was and is utterly terrifying. When you watch documentaries on Jim Henson and the muppets, and they show those less popular. kind of creepy songs, they are most likely from Rowlf's Rhapsodies. If You have seen it, you know what I am talking about. So, long story short. I love this film, despite is scariness, and would watch it again in a heartbeat!
