World War II in Colour (2009)
Human faith is least secure in human hands
This show demonstrate how unreliable human being are and how far they go due to their incomplete and sometimes wrong believes.
Going through the events occurred during WW II over and over again coming to conclusion that human will eventually destroy itself is inevitable.
The irony is human being having concerns regarding artificial intelligence and machine controlling human life. Yet that could be the only solution to not let human being destroy itself.
All these events happen about a century ago and still we see several evidences, that even up to presidential level of super power countries acting the same if not worse and supported by millions of people.
Seriously, we should not only let but beg machines to save us from ourselves before it is too late.
Inside Out (2015)
An animation for all ages
Pretty well made animation meant for all ages in which illustrate how mind work as whole. The emotions have been clearly displayed within in this animation as well as their play on one's characteristics, personality and decision making.
I beautiful journey in one's mind taking you along on joy, sadness, discuss as well as risk experience within the mind. The analogies used within this animation are priceless and can give pretty good insight to understand our mind as well as people's mind around us.
This animation could have pretty constructive effect on children how to acknowledge their feeling and grow up with better understanding.
Swades: We, the People (2004)
Dysfunction of culture and religion
This movie is among the best in it's kind regarding pointing out the dysfunction of culture and religion which any nation could fall prey of.
The movie point out in very constructive way how ancient culture or religion could deprive a nation from progress and manifest how could be improved.
Media, especially movie an well know actors and actresses could play pretty important roll to open the eyes of one nation, giving them wake up call by pointing out what believes and practices are fundamentally wrong and how harmful they could be for the nation and country in large.
As a non-Indian I enjoy the movie a lot, and I am sure Indians could make a deep connection with the movie and take lots of precious tips form this movie.
Ikiru (1952)
Life is brief
Akira Kurosawa within his masterpiece take the audience for a long and unexpected journey. Takashi Shimura is actor with many lots of talents, and he offers one of his best in this movie.
This movie illustrates how knowing you are going to die is devastating, and at the same time could be enlightening. The protagonist find out he is going to be dead soon. He find life meaning less and consider all his life as a lost. Now he try to find a way to enjoy life and yet nothing can give him that peace of mind which he looking for despite the fact that he got a chance to give a life that he imagined is fun a try.
Surprisingly the protagonist find what he was looking for where he were least expected, the place that he thought initially were the most boring place that he could imagined.
The story looks like ended at the middle of the movie, Akira Kurosawa surprise the audience when he start the story all over again from other's perspectives. No one could comprehend what happened to the protagonist, and yet everyone tried to analyze, justify and understand the dramatic change which occurred to him.
The director picture the Japaneses culture, generation gap and lots of other details within this movie. It take you the working environment, government bureaucracy, society adversity, family nostalgia, parent hood and so forth. This movie have a lot to offer and I am pretty impressed.
The movie reach the audience heart and sole several time chief among them when the seen is ready and the song goes like this:
Life is brief.
Fall in love, maidens, before the crimson bloom fades from your lips before the tides of passion cool within you, for those of you who know no tomorrow.
Life is brief.
Fall in love, maidens before his hands take up his boat, before the flush of his cheeks fades, for those of you who will never return here.
Life is brief.
Fall in love, maidens, before the boat drifts away on the waves, before the hand resting on your shoulder becomes frail, for those who will never be seen here again.
Life is brief.
Fall in love, maidens, before the raven tresses begin to fade, before the flame in your hearts flicker and die, for those to whom today will never return.
Rashômon (1950)
Truth is relatvie
This movie trying to show truth is relative. There is an incident occurred and there were some witnesses of that incident, each narrate the story from their point of views. The outcome the story is identical however each narrator saw it differently.
One of the interesting part of the movie there is no interrogator shows in the movie. The questions are repeated by the witnesses and answered accordingly to keep the story intact from the interrogator's characteristic.
I categorized this movie under philosophical genera. It shed light on human being nature and how they think and interpret their surround. The human nature is to look for truth and yet they alter the fact to be able to leave with it in a way or another.
All About Eve (1950)
Great Movie
Great movie with rich dialog and acting. The movie was kind of predictable the way that it started. You know the outcome of the movie from the beginning and the curiosity will drag you down till the end to figure out how that happened.
This movie shows publicity and fame within theater and movie are the main nature that drives some actor and actress and they are willing to do what ever it takes to reach to the top using all people as a means to become celebrity.
Inside Job (2010)
Glob economy and financial bubbles
Informative documentary about the recession and global economy as well as crises and bubbles. This documentary is an eye opener to see how economy works in large scale and what is the government role on forming and controlling it.
When economy of a nation is in jeopardy they majority within the society will pay the price and it take quite long time for nation to get back on it's feed as a whole. Every individual should know this stuff to some extend so they wouldn't fall pray of politics and bubbles.
As they say history repeat itself over and over again and people would never learn...
Per qualche dollaro in più (1965)
Remarkable Cowboy Movie
Remarkable cowboy movie and for sure among the best. The movie got two starts and the credit spread equally among them. In my eyes the title is bit misleading and the movie could get better attention by another title. The idea of ending the movie another way is also something that engaged my mind... it could have been a seen just like apple tree (you'll know when you see the movie, I wouldn't elaborate further to avoid being a spoiler)
The Apartment (1960)
Wonderful story
The way that movie started one could never guess how exiting and romantic it will get down the road. The story drag the audience along and engage them pretty deeply. This movie is full of romance, surprises as well as great actors and actress. On color, no especial effect, no action and yet you enjoy them movie, that's all what good movie is about.
Singin' in the Rain (1952)
Best musical movie I have ever seen
Singin' in the Rain is the best musical movie ever seen. Love, hate, laughter and cry are emotional elements planed professionally within the movie. Lighting, coloring, voice effects, and color mixture are amazing. There is too much spirit it this movie and it is nicely articulated within face, dance, movement and voice of actors and actresses.
