Forever Summer: Hamptons (2022)
Mindless tv (in a good way)
Interesting to see they extreme rating swings. I think it's getting under rated considering what the genre is. It's exactly what you'd expect. A reality show about rich teenagers in the hamtpons. Is there drama? Hooooohhhhh yeah. Is there storyline? Not really. I do like how realistic everyone looks though.
And poor Ilan Hahahha he gives off major tool vibes but he does seem like a generally good person who just keeps getting hate from very over dramatic insecure guys and that makes for pretty good tv.
Give it a one episode view. I don't think the 1/2 star ratings are very fair. It's like they expected to be watching an Oscar nominated movie. Its not that and shouldn't be rated in comparison.
Platonic (2023)
Hilarious and realistic
I feel this show so much with how I am with my guy friends. It's a different type of friendship sometimes better and worse. Was going to give this a 7 but can't stop thinking about all the feelings it highlighted for me and they really touched a nerve.
**spoiler**
I was very worried this was going to be a trope and they would be clearly in love and end up together, her marriage destroyed. This wasn't the case!!! I think there were drops of love here and there but in general it was realistic and satisfying.
Will and Sylvia also had great chemistry which is crucial considering they're in nearly every scene together.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Eerie (but not scary) masterpiece
The ghosts had motive and depth from the beginning. It was a great story line that left just enough mystery for you to want more but not so mysterious and confusing that you had to watch the first 8 hours before getting any answers (I hate when shows do that).
Not as scary/jumpy/suspenseful as the first Season (Hill House) but story was just as good and thought provoking.
The Night Before (2015)
Worth one watch
Lots of mixed reviews. The people saying it's directionless didn't get the point. It's a silly comedy that takes place the night before Christmas. How much plot can there be.
Seth Roger steals the show with all his scenes and I was laughing pretty hard multiple times.
Worth seeing at least once if you're in the mood for a pineapple Express type comedy. Don't watch with children unless you wanna explain drugs and sexting.
