Weeds (2005)
Halfway though season 7
I was scared that with the season 5 finale they had jumped the shark. How could they possibly rebuild the series? Season 6 was filler. Really? Trailer park fights? The RV living and NO dealing was not what I signed up for. OK, enough b*ing about the previous season.
At the beginning of Season 7, Nancy is now living in a halfway home. Her sons (plus Doug and Andy) return home to help her in their own ways. She finds that she might as well work towards her path using her wiles, but the best part about the show is that it's answering our questions.
It immediately answered our questions on Esteban, Stevie, her sister and other loose ends from the previous seasons. Jump forward a few episodes:
The recent addition of new characters has added a new zing (who doesn't love Martin Short?!) Plus the integration of existing characters into new roles has continued to add to the excitement of "what's to come."
All in all this show is back on track. We're only halfway through season 7 and I'm confident it has a few more seasons left. I'm excited for what's to come and cannot wait to see how the new players, plus the old, combine for the new setting.
I have found a new fervor for the series, and appreciate what the writers have done for the fans that have been there since day one.
The Winner (2007)
Lenny Clark has NEVER been funny
This show is terrible. I love the Daily Show, I love Family Guy. This is NEITHER. What this is, is terrible acting, horrible plot lines, shallow jokes that are only driven by the laugh track and insults. I tried to laugh, I really did, but Lenny Clark is one of the most annoying people on the planet (how does this guy keep getting work?!?) and the Mom of the show (who I'd never heard of before, and probably rightfully so), seemed so insincere about her lines I was waiting for her to look at the camera and say "I quit!" (and I totally wouldn't blame her!) The rest of the characters were so forgettable, it would be unfair to judge them as I have no idea what their point was, let alone who they were! Terrible show, I will never waste another second on this.
Barnyard (2006)
Let me say, I am a 22 year old male...
For starters, I believe the issue here is NOT with the movie, rather the label "children's movie" seemingly associated with it. I am a 22 year old male who, well I'll just say it, I'm not too different from the pig in the movie (who cracked me up, by the way! That bee thing was too much; I was dying!) Regardless, the animation is tight: a bit grainy in some areas and the lighting was questionable at times (I think it could have been brighter.) The voices were cast perfectly (Danny Glover is the MAN!), the movie was nonstop funny (for a guy like me) and I can't say a single bad thing about this, except don't take your kids!
Equilibrium (2002)
Perfect Blend of "The Matrix" and "1984"
I must say, for being a movie not very well advertised this movie certainly out-shines many that are. The action is superb and the plot is brilliant. This movie should win many awards, and is by far one of the only recently produced movies out there worth watching.
