Ultraviolet (2006)
interesting use of color and architecture element
This isn't the Matrix, and the plot has some holes, but overall the cinematography has quite a bit of uniqueness to it.
I loved the very intentional use of colors - strong primaries, and the visually strong use of architectural element.
There are nifty camera angles and a few new stunt techniques that overall makes it visually appealing, not necessarily in the innovative technical sense, but a aesthetically pleasing sense.
The plot is interesting... apparently it is a "vampire" movie, but it doesn't feel like it. There are a few leaps that you have to make, and a few things you have to infer, but if you miss it, it won't ruin the flow of the film.
Overall, I'd recommend seeing it, especially if you are looking for something pretty to look at that doesn't require an enormous amount of thinking.
The American Embassy (2002)
Bring back Emma!!
I was a faithful follower of Ally McBeal even in its later rotten years... I was bitter about the show's slow death, but when this fresh new show called American Embassy came on the scene, I forgave Fox for the last two years of crap. Then boom, as soon as it apppeared, it disappeared. If Fox gave American Embassy half the advertising it gave its other stupid shows, I am certain the AE would have gained popularity. But alas, no such luck... I hope we continue to champion the show in the hopes that Fox execs would wake up and smell quality TV when it hits them in the face.
