The Hunting Party (1971)
Copy of 1966 Episode of The Big Valley
This extremely violent movie is a direct copy of episode 19 of the first season of The Big Valley. The writer of both was Gilbert Ralston and Lou Morheim is credited for the "story" on both the TV episode and this movie. Barbara Stanwyck & Candace Bergen is each mistaken for the school teacher and kidnapped because the gang leader wants to learn to read and write. The only difference is Barbara Stanwyck lives and Candace Bergen is murdered by her husband.
A Last Cry for Help (1979)
Parents Should Watch This Movie and Take Heed
I am 66 years old and just finished watching this movie on YouTube (free and no commercials). Linda Purl was excellent. This is a very moving program and should be watched by parents of teenagers. It will give the parents some idea of the damage they can do to their children when they favor one over the over (and the kids know parents, even when you say you love them all the same) and when they pressure one child to live up to the talents of another, etc. Even though it is a TV movie over 40 years old, teens should watch it too so they can realize they can be their own person and don't have to try to live up to a siblings triumphs.
The Virginian: Big Image... Little Man (1964)
A remake of a remake
First came Captains Courageous (1937) with Spencer Tracy and Freddy Bartholomew, then Cattle Drive (1951) with Joel McCrea and Dean Stockwell, finally this poor adaption in 1964 as an episode of The Virginian. All follow the same theme...rich person is lost during a trip (Freddy falls off a boat, Dean falls off of a train, and Linden Chiles is pushed off a train). Watch the first two renditions and skip the episode of The Virginian.
A Snow White Christmas (2018)
So bad it's good
I think the bad acting was intentional and the cast pulled it off. You have to go into this movie expecting it to be bad. It definitely is not a Hallmark quality but it is worth the time, if you don't have anything else to do. Let it play in the background while you vacuum or iron or do the dishes. It is a watch-it-one-time movie, it will never be a classic.
Holiday Miracle (2014)
A Different Christmas Story
This is no Hallmark movie, thank goodness. Some of the lines in the movie are "insider joke" references. Such as the poster that says "real heroes don't wear capes" which I believe is relating to Dean Cain's years as superman in Lois & Clark. I liked that it is not heavily into the romance side of things. A nice lighthearted movie and well worth your time.
Northern Lights of Christmas (2018)
A good movie
This movie follows the typical Hallmark formula...guy and girl don't get on at first but fall in love during the movie. I appreciate that the makeup and hair of the female actors is more realistic and not so overdone, as it is in many Hallmark movies. Disregard the comments of jmlang-180-760580, as I am guessing he/she never lived in Alaska. I lived there for years and, depending on where you are located, there is plenty of bright light in the winter. People wear sunglasses during the winter so they don't suffer permanent damage to their eyes. The sun reflecting off the snow can cause snow blindness.
Gunsmoke: Song for Dying (1965)
Above Average Episode
Ignore the review by Johnny_West as it sounds like he has a personal dislike for two fine actors, Theodore Bikel and Robert Simon. The previous review complains about the singing (which I thought was pretty good) and attributes it to Mr. Bikel. I believe it is another artist, not Mr. Bikel. You should watch and form your own opinion, don't decide based on the opinion of Johnny_West.
Heaven Sent (2016)
A Remake/Copy Cat
First, the little kid is a cheap copy of Shirley Temple but without the talent. They gave her lines containing words/phrases a child that age would not know. Even many adults would have to look them up.."uber-logical".. from an eight-year-old? Second, I think it is a poor remake/copy of a movie from 1950, For Heaven's Sake. I watched Heaven Sent once and will not waste my time again.
