White Teeth (2002– )

Imaginative story, did not end as strongly as it started.

The story gets off to a great start focusing on Clara, Samad, and Archie. Clara's rebellion against her mother's narrow religious beliefs, and Samad's and Archie's reunion and subsequent relationship were the highlights of the show. The second half focusing on their progeny did not pack the same punch. It was too "over the top". The acting was strong throughout.

From Hell (2001)
COOL FLICK, GOOD STORY
18 May 2003
London in the 19th century is creepy. It is the perfect setting for any movie trying to achieve that vibe. The movie made me want to read the graphic novel. The acting works. Johnny Depp and Heather Graham both do well. Their love affair felt a little thrown together though. All in all, this is a cool flick with a good screenplay that I enjoyed and would recommend.

Average Fun

Nothing ground breaking here. Somewhat of a waste of good acting talent.

The film lacked character development. Hoffman did the best with what he was given. My girlfriend thought Ed Burns looked "real good", I just saw an unappealing character. Rachel Weiz's character was a throwaway, she added nothing. The story was OK, not as intelligent as neccesary to make this scam movie into an upper rung film. The scam didn't really seam like something that had the potential to be effective in the real world. If your looking for an hour and a half diversion without a critical eye this movie may be for you.
