A very entertaining movie with unexpected twists and turns.

This is a very entertaining movie and rather original to me. There is a ton of twists and turns in this movie. This movie doesn't really rips off the ring, as blood and gore is used in this movie, even sharp knives. Giving the whole movie a brand new look. Female murderers used in movies are not very original if you have seen diary. But this movie is a lot more original and the storyline is awesome and very original too. The ending is where I give the movie most credit. Very unpredictable. To me, the best scene in the movie is the last twenty seconds of the film. This film is slow,repetitive and slightly draggy at certain parts. However, this movie is highly entertaining, with the climax coming towards the end. This movie may not be as entertaining as the better ones such as "Koma". This movie is more of a fantastic phsycological thriller than a horror movie. It plays in your mind. At the end of this film, I guarantee that you will be very satisfied. I will give this movie a very high score of 9/10.

Diary (2006)

Great movie, crap ending

This is an electrifying movie. If you have like audition, you will probably enjoy this. The whole plot is great. The murder/torture scene in this movie, to me, is scarier than audition. The woman does not only torture the man, but kills him. The woman in this film is a lot more crazy than the one in audition, making the torture/murder scene much more effective. The part where she kills the man, with the crazy look on her face, scared me a lot more than audition. The story is very well developed. There are no plot holes. This movie is a very sad one, with twists and turns. One major flaw in this movie that audition does not have is the ending of this film. The main character tries so hard to find her husband, but what happened in the end. The ending for this film,is extremely aggravating. One of the most aggravating ending any film would have. Hence, I prefer audition. This film is recommended for fans of mystery and a movie with a good storyline. However, I hated the ending. If you like a phsycological horror with a satisfying ending, go watch Koma and Audition. This movie is still great despite its flaws. 8/10(0.5 points deducted for terrible ending.)

Face (2004)

Utter trash

This is probably one of the worst Korean horror movie I have ever seen. This movie starts out well at the beginning, with effective scares, like the mirror scene. Some gore in the beginning contributes well to the film. Mystery elements are there. This movie is about reconstruction of a face. When the film is at the halfway mark, it becomes utter trash. What one will get to see is long, boring, draggy dialogs, showing the silly guy reconstructing and reconstructing the face over ten times. It gets terribly dull and boring, and makes one want to go to sleep. Just long boring dialogs between the main character and a woman. Yawn... Nothing really scary overall. The films attempts to be a little more interesting towards the end, when it gets more absorbed into the mystery, with a huge and great plot twist. The storyline becomes interesting towards the end. You get to find out why the bad guy was murdering others, because his son suffered some kind of illness, and feels that life is unfair for him. I thought the storyline was OK. But the film was just terrible, lack of adventure, extremely repetitive. The atmosphere for this film, was dark, unclear and dull, making the film undesirable to watch. If you want a good K-horror movie, go watch the red shoes.

Ghost Train (2006)

Entertaining, but not scary

This is a relatively nice movie for me. This movie deals a lot with friendship among two people, and really does remind me of One Missed Call Final. This movie is original. The entertaining scenes takes place in a train station. The opening scene in this movie is scary. I like the plot used in this movie. I like the cave like setting of this movie. I don't know why this movie is rated so low. The cave like setting for this movie and the use of the train station in this movie is very original. I love the ending in this movie. This movie is a little touching as well. However, there are flaws in this movie. The acting in this movie is a little poor. The GCI effects were very poor except for the last ten minutes. The whole movie was not scary at all. There were only two scenes that were scary. Tension and fear was not built very well in this movie. This movie becomes very melodramatic at times, and its pacing becomes just as slow as a snail,especially the scene where the girl calls her friend using the hand phone. This movie is one of the least scariest Japanese horror movies, but not the worst definitely. This movie shows that a good movie need not be scary. This movie is really entertaining and has some very interesting ideas, like the use of the bracelet being stuck to one of the girl's hand. The train station scene in this movie is nowhere as creepy or spooky as The Red Shoes. This movie is entertaining, though not as great as some of the other J-horrors such as Ringu, Ju-on or One Missed Call.

The Locker (2004)

The haunted locker

The locker films are very entertaining and definitely deserves to be watched. The locker- I found this to be a very entertaining film. It has got an original storyline, with some great scares. The scares in this film are relatively original. The hearing of the babies cry really scared me. Tension and fear build up towards the end of the film well. The scariest scene was the one where the girl got possessed and hung herself. The ending of this film was a very sad and touching one. This film has got very solid mystery elements. I love the storyline of this film. I loved this film. This film has got a lot of emotional moments. Very unique and original scares like showing the baby being covered by a cloth and her hand slowly comes out of the cloth. The mystery contributes to the scares. The main character is very pretty. This movie is mostly shot at night, making the scares much more effective. The locker 2- This is a direct sequel to the first film. People who have watched these two films would enjoy this sequel more than the original. For me, I liked the locker a lot more than the locker two. Unlike the locker one, where the scary scenes involves a baby being covered by a cloth with blood and hands slowly coming out of the cloth,the scary scenes in this film was not original, unlike the first one. Although this may be a little scarier, it does not gives as much entertainment value as the first one. I found this film to be highly derivative of JU-ON and One missed call. The twisting scene, the elevator scene, the use of the young girl with black hair and some of the other scenes were very similar to One missed call. Somehow, I did not find this movie to be as effective as the first one.However, the good thing about this film is that it is very fast paced and provides a wide variety of scares. There were many scenes that made me jump. Scores: The locker - 8/10 The locker 2 - 7.5/10

The Child's Eye (2010)

An entertaining movie

I found this movie to be relatively entertaining but not fantastic. This movie revolves around a really dark hotel. This movie is rather unique as it has the elements of comedy, horror and fantasy. The idea used in this movie about this dog-human hybridisation was very original and interesting. This idea was not used in other horror movies before. The dark and tense atmosphere used in this movie was great. There were a few jumpy scenes. This movie has its mystery elements and has a rather decent storyline. The acting in this movie was quite good, although the acting of the creepy girl in the movie was very poor. The fantasy land used in this movie was quite interesting and original. I love the scary scene where one of the main characters vomited white gory stuff, followed by blood, and then his tongue. He seemed to be possessed. I thought this scene was done very well and was really scary. However, there are also flaws in this movie as well. This movie does not build terror and fear very effectively. It gets less and less scary towards the end of the movie. The ending for this movie requires a whole lot of explanation as it was just so confusing.The movie was too fast paced to be scary. There were many scary scenes in this movie. Some of the scenes were very memorable. I would prefer this movie to build tension and fear around the beginning of the movie with some scary scenes, and let it get scarier and scarier towards the end of the movie.This movie did not manage to build terror and fear towards the end of the movie. This movie should have its scariest scenes towards the end ofthe movie and not end the movie with some very touching stuff. This movie tries to be touching towards the end but did not manage to do so. This movie does not have any suspenseful moments. Hence, this movie did not manage to be as well made as ringu, Ju-on or One Missed Call. Overall, I found this to be an average movie with some entertaining scenes. Recommended. Score:7.7/10

Exte: Hair Extensions (2007)

Original film, and very entertaining.

I found this film very entertaining. There were parts that were very emotional, and some parts that were really scary. The scares were very original. Most of the special effects were good though some were really bad. The scares were terrifying and very unique. The two most terrifying scenes being pulling the hair out from the eye and from the tongue, and the scene where the hair strangles the main character made me jump. This show was more touching than scary to me. Its a movie with tons and tons of hair. This movie is a bit slow at the beginning, but when it grabs you, it really does. This movie, like all other Sion Sono's films have a very great ending that makes people feel happy after watching the film. This movie has the happiest ending in comparison with Noriko's dinner table and also Suicide Club. Everything in this movie is clear unlike suicide club. This movie is entertaining in various ways. There were lots and lots of character development between the characters in the movie. The special effect where the hair attacks the main character and her sister was creepy and interesting. The effects just looked so real. The storyline was great and touching. However, there are still some flaws in this movie. This movie is relatively slow in the first ten to twenty minutes. This movie has some poor special effects as well. The effect where the man became an elf, to me was really bad. This movie has got so many entertaining scenes throughout the second half of the movie just concerning how the hair attacks people. Some of the scenes were just so creative and gross. The part where the girls hair stands up and sticks to the ceiling, than became bald, was just awesome. I like how this movie deals with themes such as "Love" and "Child abuse". The scary scenes mainly occur at night which was great. There are many memorable scenes and really gross scenes in this movie. Hair just comes out from anywhere and attacks people by tieing them up or strangling them. This movie is very original and I personally found it more interesting than shows such as Noriko's dinner table. However, this movie would be more effective if they reduce the comedy for this movie and make this movie scarier. Because the funny parts for this movie are not funny at all, they are just ridiculous. Other than that, this movie is emotional, scary, gross and very entertaining. Score:8/10

Ring 0: Birthday (2000)

Great movie, though slow at times

I found this to be an excellent movie. First of all, this movie is really terrifying. This movie might even be almost as scary as the original ringu. There were a few interesting scares during the second half of the movie and there were a few jumpy scenes as well. There were more scares in this movie than the original ringu, though as a whole this movie isn't as scary as the original. The ending for this movie was a very sad and scary one. Basically, this movie explains why Sadako ended up being thrown in the well. This movie is electrifying, and is interesting that some of the scary scenes took place in the forest. There was one scene where Sadako seem to even twist her own body. I thought that was terrifying and rather unique. This movie starts of being very interesting for the first twenty minutes, then continues with some long draggy and boring dialogs showing how Sadako and the other man build up their relationship slowly. The scenes that took place in the theatre just got draggy after the first twenty minutes. However, let the show take a little while to grab you. Halfway during the movie, it grabbed me, and I could not stop watching this film. This film is both electrifying and relatively sad. Another major complain I have about this film is that very much like ringu, the scariest scenes in this film take place entirely during the day and not at night. This eases out a lot of tension and fear when I watch the movie. Other than that, this movie has an interesting storyline, an interesting idea, a relatively touching film. This film is recommended. Score: 8/10

Suicide Club (2001)

A very original and well done film

I thought this film was very well made though extremely confused at times. A horror film that contains masses of one suicide after another caused by a group of teenage girls is extremely scary. Before I watched this film, I thought this film is about people who get possessed by some ghost and commit suicide. It didn't turn out to be what I expected. It does not matter. I still found this film to be very exciting. The character development for the detective was done very well. The ways the people commit suicide were creatively done. The opening scene was just done wonderfully well. The high school kids that slowly gets obsessed with committing suicide(the tension and fear that builds up in that scene is fantastic). I love the messages the show conveys. I didn't know why people complain about the ending. I loved the happy ending. I thought the ending was done so well. The twists and turns of this film was done well. This film, to me, has got quite good character development amongst the main characters and is definitely highly recommended. There is a sequel to this film, which explains about this film in great detail. However, the sequel to this film, Noriko's dinner table has such a terrible and aggravating ending that this film succeeds much more than its sequel. Recommended definitely Score:8.5/10

Cinderella (2006)

Not that scary, but a wonderfully made movie

I have heard many bad reviews about this film. I wonder why. I thought this movie was made very well. Everything was explained clearly, the storyline was very original and just great. Even the idea used in this movie was fantastic. Not all horror movies need to be scary, they just need to be entertaining. This movie, in terms of the storyline, might have even been more effective than A tale of two sisters, because the storyline is extremely clear. You know what is going on throughout the whole film. Even the ending was quite unexpected. Even this film might get extremely dramatic towards the end of the movie, there are tons of emotion of the characters very well used in this movie. This movie has a tremendously strong character development, which I personally find it being much more effective than shows such as Noriko's dinner table. I cannot understand why this film is so lowly rated. I hardly find any flaws in this film. The first half of this film was tremendously scary, especially the scene where the girl looks into the mirror and saw blood covered over her face. That scene was much more effective than even shows such as wishing stairs. The scenes during the first half of the movie are tremendously scary, though the second half was very dramatic. Hence, the building up of tension and fear was done very badly in this movie. It does not matter. This film succeeds in both being very terrifying and very touching to me. This film is very original as well. Highly recommended. Score:9/10

The Ring (2002)

A terrifying film, though not as good as the original

I found this movie to be made quite well and quite terrifying. There were lots of jumpy scenes. The opening scene for this movie was done very well. The part where the main character pulls out the hair from her mouth was also done very well. This is the remake of the original film. Though I found this remake to be quite entertaining. There were a few flaws that made it not as good as the original. The opening scene to me in this movie seemed to be the scariest part in the entire film, in fact it was probably even scarier than the scene where the ghost comes out of the TV set. I have read some of the reviews about the wonderful opening scene in this movie, and I agree. However, this whole movie definitely was not as good as the original. Because the scary scene where the ghost comes out from the TV set in the original was much scarier.The storyline of this film is about the same as the original. Here's a comparison between the original and the remake. Original - The man was working on his newspaper articles in a typical house, when the TV showed a picture of a well.You could already see the terror and fear on the man's face. Sadako slowly crawls out of the well and crawls out of the TV maintaining her scary crawling position. She then stands up, with her hair still covered over her face. Her face was not shown. She slowly moves towards the man. The man was shocked and frightened as you could see from his expression. He struggles. Just as you thought that Sadako would move towards the man. No. Sadako twitches her eye and stares at the man. Just as you thought Sadako would move towards him. No, the man faces Sadako, his mouth was forced opened, his heart stopped beating and fell onto the floor with his mouth opened wide.I could not sleep after I watched it Remake- The man was also working on his newspaper articles, when the TV seems to be on, he turns off the TV. He did not look as terrified as the man in the original ringu version. The man even stupidly moves towards the TV. Samumara comes out of the well.(The atmosphere around the well was not dark unlike ringu) Samumara slowly comes out of the TV set. Strange, but the coincidence of the main character trying to call the man to warn him what was about to happen, reduces the tension and fear of that scene. Samumara slowly comes out of the TV set, her hair was still covering her face. She slowly walks towards the man. The man seem to trip over some shelf. The shelf fell onto the ground with a crashing sound.This part reduces even more tension and fear of that scene. The camera angle was then not right. The scene then shows Samumara's feet walking towards the man.(also reduces tension) The man then tries to hide. Up to here , the scene was still very scary. What comes next became a disappointment to me in comparison to the original. Sadako slowly raises her head, with anger, her entire face was shown(Sadako's hair was still covering her face in the original version).Then some crappy special effects occurred without even mentioning what happened to the man unlike the original. The ending for the remake was also disappointing compared to the original.there were a few plot holes in the movie. Firstly, the video which the main character watched left many questions in my mind. What has the centipede got to do with the plot for this movie? What has the ladder even got to do with the movie? What has the finger piercing the nail or even the housefly has got to do with the movie? I personally think the special effects were overly done in that video for the remake. Some parts like the mother pushing Samumara down the well was pretty unexpected. I love that twist, because all the while I thought the father was the one who did it. This twist was not used in the original. I love the creepy atmosphere being used throughout the entire movie. I love the tension and fear that builds up in this movie. I love the characters being used in this movie, Samumara really looked scary. I love the character development and the storyline used in this movie. I thought there were lots of character development. Base on cultural interest, the original has done a much better job than the remake. Overall, I found this to be quite a nice movie, but the original was three times better than this. This movie is still recommended, but I highly recommend one to see the original first before you see the remake. My scores for the ring series so far would be: Japanese version of ringu- 9/10 Japanese version of ringu 2- 7/10 The ring(remake)-7.7/10 The ring two(remake)-7.1/10

Koma (2004)

Very entertaining movie with a great storyline

I found this movie to be very entertaining with lots of wonderful surprises. There were lots of unexpected and entertaining moments in this film. This film deals very well with themes of friendship, mystery and love. The ending was very touching and unexpected. Though the action may not be as good as some of the Jacky Chan movies, this movie has a great storyline. The cinematography of the film was well made. The acting was extremely fantastic, especially the acting of Karena Lam. This movie has wonderful mystery elements as well. This movie even contains some horror elements in it though it was supposed to be a physcological thriller, there were some jumpy scenes. However, there are still some minor flaws in this film. I thought the middle portion of this film where the relationship of the two girls were being bulid up was quite draggy. It would be good if they have shorten that up a bit. This movie contains a lot of action, and well paced overall. This movie is a rather original one because it deals with kidneys. This movie is highly recommended. What I actually like most about this movie is the ending. The ending was very well done due to the built up of the film. The ending was though, predictable, a very touching ending indeed. The ending for this movie is very satisfying for me unlike the one in diary. The ending shows a great relationship between the main characters. A lot of credit was given to the ending for me. Hence, I will give this movie a high score of 9/10.

Noriko's Dinner Table (2005)

A well made movie, but needed a little more character development

This movie was quite entertaining, but I have got one very major complain about this movie. This movie did not really show how the father was bad to his daughters. The father just cared about his work, so when the daughter, Noriko and her sister ran away, did not bother him much. That showed how cruel Noriko's father is. The father even asked his wife to help him do his work, so you can see how obsessed the father is at work. As mentioned towards the end of the show, Noriko's father may even hit her if she asked him something. However, the character development for Noriko's father to see how distant he is towards his daughter could have been made much better like the movie "Click". I thought this movie should also focus more on the "Problem" rather than just the "Solution".Click really shows that when when the main character was obsessed with his work, and when his kids ask him a question, he would scold them and shout at them loudly. The movie also shows how obsessed the main character was obsessed with his work(when he got back home he just did and did his work without even caring about the kids). So you can see how distant their relationship is and feel touch for the characters. This movie did not really manage to make me feel touch because they focused too much on the solution rather than the problem. I did not really feel that the relationship of the daughter and father was very far unlike the movie CLICK. The first half an hour of this movie could have used to build up development instead of long boring dialogs. This movie still managed to be interesting though, it managed to be touching at times, especially when they are trying to solve the problem by doing some 'acting'. This movie is unique and entertaining. It is fun to watch due to its rather good storyline though poor character development. Furthermore, the ending pratically spoiled the entire film. The ending was extremely aggravating and terrible. I thought the whole problem was solved. A lot of effort was put in to solve the problem. What wrong with Noriko's sister? Why did she do something so stupid? Why did she run away? This ending is just horrible and extremely aggravating. This film somehow did not impact me as much as suicide club. I preferred suicide club to this film. Though this film was still good because it was very very entertaining though not convincing enough for me. Score: 7/10

Dark Water (2002)

A very entertaining movie

This movie is entertaining in numerous ways and has many nice scare. I do not find this movie slow pacing at all. I thought it was very well paced. The ending of this movie was very touching and well made. The storyline was decent but there were some plot holes. This movie, unlike ringu, contains both touching and creepy scenes. This movie has much more scares than ringu, cause ringu only has one scary scene. But the scary scene in ringu is much much more frightening than this movie. So overall, ringu was scarier and much more entertaining. The storyline of ringu was better than this. However, although ringu was much more entertaining than this movie dark water, dark water has got very good development of the characters. This movie deals very well with themes such as "Family", "Love", "Mother Daughter Relationship". The ending for this movie was an extremely sad one. There should be more character development for the ghost. Other than that, this is a wonderful movie that deserves to be watched definitely. Score:8.7/10

Re-cycle (2006)

An average film with good cinematography, but poor scares

This movie is an average movie for me. This movie is about a woman who aborts a child and is being sent to this other world where things are being recycled. Her child was there as well. This movie has a relatively decent storyline with a very very touching scene. This movie is entertaining in many ways. The other world was just done so so well and so original. I loved it. However, some of the scenes tried to be scary but it just didn't work. Pratically none of the scenes are scary to me. I thought it would be good if more things were being explained about this other world and I thought it would be good if there was more adventure which the main character could experience in this other world with the young girl. It would be good if this movie had been longer. This movie is very well paced and very touching. Possibly one of the most touching movies I have seen. This movie is quite nice and original in various ways. The other world was just done very well. You can just see a chunk of thrown away materials and stuff being found in the other world. This movie is recommended definitely. I thought that this movie was even better than shows such as The eye or the eye 2. Score: 7.6/10

Stacy: Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies (2001)

Great movie, great idea, entertaining, poor storyline

This movie is relatively fast paced with extremely gory scenes. However, the storyline for this movie is not that good. I felt that the storyline for this movie was not clear and confusing. I could hardly understand what is happening in this movie except towards the end. This is a very complicating film. This film is entertaining though, it talks about some near death happiness stuff. The idea used in this movie was quite good. The ending was really touching. Eiko lying there in the middle of the grassland really made me almost cried. However, I felt that this movie was not really certain of its direction. It starts of as a comedy, then combined with horror and gory scenes, and then ends off being very touching. I would like to appreciate the touching scene at the end much more, but I find it difficult to do so due to all the comedy at the beginning of this film. This film has got quite interesting scares such as plucking the head out from a girl. The acting of the schoolgirls were just really fantastic. Eiko's acting was good. I wished this movie could have just given a bit more focus to the main character. This movie is original and has some unique scenes. This movie is not scary but fun to watch because it was just extremely fast paced. This movie overall, though wasn't fantastic, was definitely interesting enough. Score:7.8/10

Infection (2004)

Great movie, interesting plot and very original

This is one of my top 20 favourite horror movies. This movie is really unique. Although there are similar movies like this that were made before such as resident evil and slither. This movie has a very unique twists at the end which makes the entire movie interesting. Is there really a virus?? I'll leave you to watch this movie and figure out for yourself. This movie has an extremely creepy atmosphere. This movie builds tension and fear very well. This movie just gets more and more scary as it proceeds. The scariest parts of this movie to me are towards the ending. The ending is quite confusing though. This movie starts of as being very simple but ends off being a very complicated and tangled one. If you are interested to know the types of emotions doctors who treat patients in the hospital have, then go watch this movie. This movie is mostly made in a very dark atmosphere that adds to the tension and fear when one watches this movie. Some of the flaws of this movie include being slow pacing at the beginning with quite a number of dialogues, some parts were not even scary for me. Other than that, if you want to watch a movie with an interesting storyline, original and unique. This movie is highly recommended. Score:9 out of 10 stars

Yogen (2004)

Great storyline, great idea

Premonition is one of my Top 20 horror films that I have watched. I love the idea being used in this film, I love the originality of this movie. This movie is really very very original about fates. This movie is about a man who can see the future and when he tries to stop the future, terrible things starts happening to him. This movie is slow paced at times, but just let it grab you because for the last 20 minutes, I just could not stop watching this movie. In comparison to butterfly effect, I thought this ending was much better. The mystery elements used in this movie were just great. The scares used in this movie by the flying newspapers were great. This movie is not extremely scary, but is a show with a solid storyline. Though I had one major complain in this movie. The scene where the passengers board the train and the main character pulls his wife back and the train starts to move. I was expecting something to happen in the train but nothing happened. This movie is terrifying and scary psychologically. This movie is very original. I highly recommend this movie if you like shows such as The Time Machine or The Butterfly Effect. Score: 9/10

Naraka 19 (2007)

well made at the beginning but had a terrible ending

This is only an average movie for me. The first 2/3 of this movie was done very well, but the last 1/3 of this movie sucked. The opening scene of this movie was terrifying and seem to give me the impression that this is one of the better horror movies ever made. The opening scene starts of showing someone that was caused to feel very depressed and ends up killing himself. It quite reminds me of Kairo, except that in Kairo, the depressed victims vanishes. Hence, the idea used in this movie seems to be very creative. Another depressed victim eventually cuts of her tongue. The main character went to investigate these mysterious suicides. The use of cellphones to cause the victims to enter the levels of hell is not original, it reminds me of One Missed Call. I personally found this movie to be underrated and deserves a higher score. Overall, this movie is original and has some terrifying scenes. The cinematography in this movie was well done. The atmosphere for the 1st level of hell and the 4th level of hell was fantastic. Knifes dropping down from the sky was really creative. In the 1st level of hell, the ghost attacks the victims on a small boat. I thought the idea was creative. However, this movie is far too fast paced. It should be made into a 3 hour movie to explain the different levels of hell. Before you know it, the main character has already entered the 18th level of hell. What made this movie bad was the last 1/3 of the movie. That part really sucked. The ending was extremely hanging in the air, and possibly one of the worst endings I have ever seen in cinematographic history. What happened in the end??? The man was about to open the door, and I thought that the climax of this movie was about to occur, and 'boom' the movie ended, without even having a sequel. Another really major complain I have about this movie is that What is Wrong With the 19th level of hell??? I was expecting so much to happen in that level of hell. What turned out to be in the 19th level of hell is much worse than the other levels of hell. Don't expect something great to happen in the 19th level of hell, because the 19th level of hell is just filled with rocks and rocks and rocks. Its ridiculous. The 18th level of hell was overcome to easily(even seemed easier than the other levels of hell). The atmosphere for the 18th level of hell is also a terrible one with just walls and walls and walls. Overall, this was an average movie for me, it started off very well with a good middle portion, but a terrible ending. Score: 7.3/10

Silk (2006)

Well made horror movie,with nice scares, nice ideas but complicating storyline.

This movie is about one who traps ghosts in a merger sponge. This movie is unique in various ways. I personally found the opening scene to be probably the scariest scene in the entire show and I have to admit this opening scene was far better and much scarier than the opening scene in ringu(though overall ringu was a better movie.) This movie share similarities with ringu, i.e the people who died had twisted mouths and their mouths were being opened very wide. This movie is unique, it explains the use of the merger sponge. It explains that ghosts does not hold grudges are in peace and vanishes into thin air. Whereas ghosts who holds grudges don't. I am a Singaporean and understand Chinese. So I do not need to look at the subtitles. This movie is acted by a very famous Taiwanese actress, Barbie su, who does a great job in this film. However, the atmosphere of this film was not really scary. I did not like the atmosphere used in this film. I thought more information needs to be given about the boy and his mother as in why they held such a strong grudge. This film gets really complicating towards the end though it was still entertaining. Overall I think this was a really well done movie. If you love this movie, you may also like to try out the Taiwanese horror movie called the heirloom, which was also very well done. Score: 8/10

Pulse (2001)

Very very creepy but not shocking

This movie is one of my top 10 horror movies and is unique and original in various ways. This movie makes use of the technique of isolation, shadows, blurred images to cause the scares. This movie is well paced and entertaining. However, don't expect things such as the ghost coming out of the computer or the characters in the movie being sucked into the computer. There wasn't such scares. In fact shadows(visions) of dead friends would be shown in the computer, and there is one really frightening screen saver. The usage of possession in this movie was very unique. Don't expect the possession technique to be like Bunshinsaba and Phone, which the girl gets possessed ends up killing others or treating others differently. This show uses the possession technique such that the person who gets possessed ends up wanting to kill himself and die. They feel very lonely and become shadows and then paintings on the wall and vanishes into thin air. The flaws in this movie includes this movie taking place mainly in the morning( I prefer some of the scares to take place at night) Tension and fear of this movie does not take place evenly.(i.e. The scariest scenes in this movie mainly take place in the middle but not towards the end.) The ending was a very sweet one. This movie is highly recommended. It is unique and entertaining. Score: 9/10

The Heirloom (2005)

good storyline, good scares but poor idea.

I found this film quite interesting though very slow pacing at times. The characters chosen were really good. I am a Singaporean and I do understand Chinese. Hence, I do not really need to look at the subtitles to understand this film. Though this films may not be as scary as J-Horror films, I think it does a great job in creating a creepy atmosphere. This movie is very original. Very much like Ringu, tension and fear builds up to only one very terrifying scene. The scene in the toilet at the airport was terrifying. The girl got hung without even with a rope around her neck. Just like ringu, this terrifying scene occurs in one of the most unexpected moments in the show, that makes the scene scary. The idea used in this movie was rather ridiculous. It is about a strange tradition a family has in which people who are unhealthy have to get locked up. However, the storyline was done so well that I found this film very entertaining. The acting, especially the main character, in this movie did a very great job. Score: 8/10

Witch Board: Bunshinsaba (2004)

an extremely well done film though it gets complicating at times

To me, this is a very original film. The use of the Oujia board was very original. I have not seen a similar idea in other movies yet. The use of hympothising another person to cause that person to kill himself/herself was very original. This movie is extremely fast paced or possibly the most fast paced movie I have ever seen. This movie is just awesome and entertaining from the start to the end credits. The opening scene was very well done and scary. The ending was quite good. This movie probably is as scary as shows such as the shutter but did not scare me as much as ringu. The first half of the movie was terrifying, the second half of the movie was not as scary but still entertaining. However, this movie is really complicating somewhere around the middle and I have a hard time trying to figure out what was happening. This movie is similar to Reincarnation in some ways, but it does not matter. This movie is extremely exciting and recommended. This is one of my Top 10 horror movies. Score: 9/10

A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)

One of the best story lines any movie would have

This movie has got lots of twists and turns that really got me glued to the screen. This movie is very well paced. However, this movie isn't scary at all. There were pratically no frightening scenes in this movie. Other than that, this movie is great, interesting with many many twists. The ending, was probably one of the most unexpected ending any movie would have. This movie is so original in terms of the storyline. There was no murders only not helping others when they are in need. Lots of hallucinations were used in this movie. This movie was extremely slow at first, but just let the movie slowly grab you. Eventually, it does grab into you and you will be very satisfied with this film. Many weird things happen in this film which makes this film interesting. The storyline is a very unique one. There is a lot of character development in this film. The acting was good, the cinematography was good. The hallucinations of the main character were used well. This movie just shows how one mistake can lead to terrible consequences that will occur in a person. This movie is very original, if you like shows like Reincarnation, you will like this movie. Score: 8.7/10

Shutter (II) (2004)

An entertaining movie with a good storyline

This movie, Shutter really has a very good storyline with many unique scares. This movie is very well paced and the more scary moments comes toward the end. This movie is unique because the ghosts attacks the photos. There are many interesting scenes in this movie. The dark humour (about the toilet scene) in this movie contributes a whole lot to this movie. The ending of this movie was similar to ringu 2 but was done far better than that show. That was lots of character development and the acting of this film was just great. The staircase scene in which the main character keeps on being on the fourth floor was interesting. The scene where the main character's wife vomits blood is terrifying and entertaining(This is not a common scene in other horror movies) Everything in this movie was clear and explained very well. The ghost, Natre who walks on the ceiling was well done and terrifying. However, I still do have one major complain about this movie. I thought the part where the main character tries to escape by climbling the ladder out of the window was just too ridiculous. The ghost climbing out of the window chasing him makes things even less scary and really ridiculous. A ghost that climbs out of a window just doesn't seem scary, its ridiculous. Furthermore, it was raining, hence the scary atmosphere was drained off by the rain. A horror movie would not be scary anymore if it was raining. One particular reason why I find this movie more effective than Ringu is because most of the scariest scenes take place at night, in a very dark atmosphere(the best scene being the blanket scene).However, the scary scenes in ringu are shown during the day, hence there is a lack of this dark, nighttime atmosphere. I thought the blanket scene was far better than the one in A tale of two sisters. This movie is awesome. Though terror and fear are not distributed evenly throughout the entire movie for me. This movie has an extremely clear and stable storyline with some twists here and there. This movie has got many terrifying scenes. The last few scenes towards the end of the movie are not very scary but extremely entertaining. I found this movie to be more effective than ringu. Other than that, this movie is still scary, terrifying and electrifying and highly recommended. Score: 9.1/10
