Page Miss Glory (1935)
Maid working in fancy hotel, ends up a star, because she resembles a picture.
This was an interesting movie. Had a pretty good cast, and a well written storyline. But I can't say it's my favorite Marion Davies movie. I liked it, I thought it was funny, but there was something off about it. I think it might have been that it was hard for her to top some of the silent movies of hers I've seen. But it's still a pretty good film. I personally liked Marion Davies, & Patsy Kelly's characters the most. They have this certain charm about them. Although this might not be her best film, it's still funny, & worth watching. A borderline classic. I thought they could've done better with the ending though. Give it a shot, & check out her older movies if you haven't seen them.
The Isle of Sunken Gold (1927)
About a Sea Captain who finds a treasure map, & has to fight for it.
The main reason I wanted to watch this, is because until recently, I had no idea Jack Pierce was an actor as well as a makeup artist. I could only find the fourth chapter in this serial, & i'm not sure if any others are known to still exist. If so, I can't find them. Everything is out of context, coming in half way into the story. It's alright, but confusing. Jack Pierce appeared to be one of the antagonists in this.(at least I believed it to be him) The actors do a pretty good job, but it's still sort of cheesy. It's a little racist, but i'm not surprised for 1927. Also, there's an ape named Kong in it, I thought that was kind of funny Overall, it was an amusing piece of the film. I enjoyed it, but would much rather see a story as a whole usually. There's nothing to spoil for the audience either, with such a short part of a ten part serial. I would recommend watching it as a time killer, but wouldn't consider it epic. Maybe if the rest of the film is found, I might be wrong. But it's amusing if nothing else.
